Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Fuck, Axel!

If he could strangle his wolf, he would have done it by now.

"I am yours." Really?

He could not believe he just said that.

"And you are mine." Technically, it was Axel, his wolf, who spoke those words.

He would never say those lines if it had been him. But apparently, his wolf could not keep his thoughts to himself, so he forced him to utter those words.

What the hell!

Most of the time, he could control his inner wolf. But he seemed blessed with an aggressive kind that had too much testosterone.

Now, of all times, his wolf had to behave like a fucking teenager who could not keep his dick inside his pants.

Damnit! Axel.

"What are you doing?" He admonished his inner wolf, irritated with its unruly behavior.

He might sometimes be playful, even mischievous a few times, but his wolf was three times worse. Frankly, Axel was the real culprit why he was in this situation in the first place.

"Helping you. Dumdum!" That was Axel and his charming personality. Nonetheless, he loved his wolf even if he was an occasional thorn in his side.

They had been partners through everything in his life, the ups and downs, except when his wolf acted out, bringing him along to a sure roller coaster disaster.

"Help me?" That was laughable. Axel was only creating a mess as far as he was concerned.

Since Celeste cursed them, Axel had been restless. But then again, he believed his wolf had acted strange even before they got in trouble.

Sometimes he wondered if his wolf had intentionally offended the Congregation witch to piss her off. But, of course, that did not make sense. Why would Axel do that?

"You can't keep acting like a brute." Axel countered. "You need to tone down the aggression and turn up the charm if you want her to fall in love with you again."

But there were times when his wolf could become his voice of reason, reminding him of the things he seemed to overlook.

"But you did not need to overdo it." He had a plan, but not like this.

Nonetheless, he could not deny his wolf made sense. But it was not easy when he kept remembering why he could not accept her as his mate in the first place.

Yeah, I loved her.

However, what her father did destroyed whatever they had. He had no proof that she was involved, but he knew he could never trust her, not with his secrets.

Therefore, a future with her was out of the question.

"You don't want to scare her off." He knew arguing with Axel was a waste of time. His wolf could be as stubborn as him most of the time.

Nevertheless, he had to find a way to keep up with this charade. He had to live with her without revealing anything about his true identity. Most importantly, he had to make her fall in love with him.

"Hey, put your game face on. Remember, the curse would become permanent if you could not swallow your pride and act like a decent human before her."

Again, his wolf was right.

He had to put himself together before facing her again. He had to pretend that he liked her. That was the only way she would like him, too.

"Besides, stop pretending that you don't want to fuck her in every corner of this place. I don't." His wolf brazenly howled his burning desire to claim her.

"Shut up! Axel." He hated it when his wolf was making more sense than him.

He could not deny that his wolf might be telling the truth. It seemed despite rejecting her as his mate, he still had a strong connection with her.

But in his defense, she was still as beautiful, maybe even more, now that she had matured in the right places. And he was still a warm-blooded animal who had needs.

"I will if you could keep your boner to heel." Again, his wolf and his crude remarks.

He had more to say to his wolf, but a knock on his door interrupted them. He guessed he would have to continue their conversation once they were alone again.

"I am sorry." His wife's head suddenly peeked behind the door. "I hate to disturb you. But I could not seem to find anyone else in the house." She hesitantly stood along the hallway.

"I guess that is my fault since I think there has been some miscommunication in our honeymoon arrangement." Due to the hastiness of their wedding, he did not have enough time to plan the honeymoon. Not that he was genuinely interested.

However, he thought everybody would expect it once they learned about their marriage. Besides, he thought they could use this time to discuss their agreement.

"But what seems to be the problem." As soon as they left the airport and drove to their private secluded cottage in the woods, he left her in her room while he went to his private office.

He thought he should give her time to adjust to their new situation.

"Well, I went to the kitchen to look for something to eat, but the fridge and the cabinets are empty." She informed him.

Again, he guessed that would be his fault. He had chosen this place for its privacy. Since it was far from civilization, the staff, the food, and supplies did not arrive on time.

"Yeah, they won't be delivered until the morning at the earliest." He told her.

But in his defense, he usually did not deal with mundane things like this. He could only blame his assistant for messing it up.

"Oh!" She looked surprised, but what else could she do? "So, I guess we have to wait then." She mumbled as she turned to leave.

But he sensed that she was hungry. Of course, he could hear her stomach grumbling. It was the curse of being a wolf.

They have heightened senses. They heard things they were not supposed to hear. At least they could not hear somebody else's thoughts. But they still had a very sharp way of reading people through their senses.

"No, I am taking you to dinner. So, go freshen up and change into something comfortable." He announced.

Of course, he could hate her all he liked, but he still had to feed her. He could not let her starve under his watch. Besides, he needed her, liked it or not.

"No, you don't have to do that. I am sure I will find something in the kitchen." She declined.

"No, I insist."

That is more like it.

Of course, Axel would have something to say to that.
