The next morning, the air was sharp with purpose as the city stirred to life. Xander's expansive office was filled with silence. Liam knocked once and entered, his demeanour crisp as he approached Xander's desk.
"Good morning, sir," Liam greeted.
Xander glanced up from the document he was reading and nodded, gesturing for him to proceed.
"I contacted the police station as you requested," Liam began. "The gun used to kill Adam Swift is still in their custody."
Xander's shoulders relaxed imperceptibly, the weight of potential setbacks easing. "That's good," he said, his tone measured. "We need that gun to corroborate the other evidence we're about to gather."
Liam continued, "Our team has successfully escorted the waiter's wife and her son back to Wing City. They're currently en route to the safe house."
