Aurora shakily grabbed her phone and dialled Abigail's number. At the first ring, the call connected.
"Aura, I was just about to call you back. What's going on? Are you in any kind of trouble? Did Xander—?"
"I'm fine, Abby," Aurora quickly said, cutting her off before she could say anything to incur Xander's wrath. "I just thought I could invite you to dinner, but Xander has other plans for us tonight, so you don't need to come again."
There was a pause from the other end, followed by feet shuffling. The next moment, Abigail asked, still in doubt. "Aura, you know you can talk to me if something is bothering you, right?"
"Of course, you are my best friend." Aurora's heart bled. She had so many things she wanted to tell her unfortunately she can't do any of that with Xander on her neck. "Did you get the bottles of wine and the invitation card for my champagne launch?"
