Xander's response was measured. "I will check my schedule and have my assistant coordinate."
As they left the venue, Xander held Aurora's hand tightly, his thumb brushing over her knuckles as Liam and Nene came to receive them and escort them back to the car.
"Sweetheart, how did you enjoy yourself?"
"Very well." Aurora beamed with a smile, still reeling from the aftermath of the state dinner. "And it's all thanks to you."
A few minutes into their ride as they chatted heartily about their experience at the dinner, Aurora raised a question, her tone dripping with slight disappointment.
"I really thought I would see the Major in an event like today. Do you happen to know the reason he was absent from an event like tonight?"
Xander tilted his head to the side, seeing that she had intended to speak to him tonight. "He must have been preoccupied with the state affairs, plus plans our next mission."
