Zen and Sakura stared at the bulky figure that stepped out of the shadow of the shelf of provisions, the red pupils stared at them with ferocity as the tongue licked it's lips.
"Aah.... Food... Food... Hungry" The aberrant growled as it jumped towards Zen and Sakura. Zen immediately grabbed Sakura and jumped out of the way and moved to hide behind a shelf.
Zen heard someone sniffing beside him and he turned to look at Sakura who was in his arms, she was holding his clothes while trying to hold back her tears. He understood how she felt, her beloved uncle had become a mindless cannibal.
"Hey, it may sound harsh... But we need to kill that..." Zen whispered causing Sakura to look up at him.
"I know... But..."
Zen patted her hair as he looked at her with sympathy in his eyes, "we would give him a proper burial, and we would survive this world, we might be able to bring him back to life if we become strong enough ... Like in the novels"
Hearing Zen's words, a fierce glimmer flashed through Sakura's eyes then she looked at Zen who was looking down at her, their faces were extremely close.
"Please Zen, no matter what happens, don't leave me... You're the only one I have left now" Sakura said before she kissed Zen whose eyes widened in surprise.
Sakura pulled back as her face was flushed with embarrassment, she kept her eyes on his chest, "I can only offer myself to you"
Zen sighed before he kissed her forehead," You're mine now, I wouldn't want anything happen to you... We've only got each other"
Sakura nodded faintly before her eyes widened. She noticed a pair of red pupils staring back at her from the shelf spaces, a malicious grin manning the face.
*RAWWWRRR*
Followed by a crash as the shelf was thrown away with a lot of rubbles, Zen picked Sakura in a princess carry as he dashed towards the counter and hid behind it. He placed Sakura on the floor, as he looked at her, she was bleeding from her head.
He immediately removed his jacket and tied it around her head. She had been hit by the shelf beam when the aberrant had thrown it away, she passed out from the impact.
Zen squatted as he looked around, he needed something he would use as a weapon, if he wanted to kill the aberrant.
He saw a steel baseball bat at the corner of the store, if he wanted to get to it, he had to get past the aberrant first.
"Damn, what kind of sh*t luck is this??" Zen spat as he stood up and looked around the shop before looking at the aberrant, he clenched his fists tightly.
He immediately dashed towards the side of the counter and flipped over before landing, the aberrant swivlled around and ran towards where he had landed but Zen had ran away from there.
"So it's sensitive to sound..." Zen noted as he picked a flask from the shelf and threw it towards another shelf making a loud sound. He watched as the barraged towards the sound.
Zen nodded as he ran towards where the steel baseball bat was, he picked it up and swung it around, he decided to take off his shoes and move around while wearing his socks. As he had kept the bat in order to take off his shoes, he didn't know it was not balanced well, so the bat fell to the ground with a clanging sound.
Zen paled as he looked at the aberrant whose head turned towards his direction, without a pause it jumped towards Zen who picked up the bat and rolled to the side but not without having his arm slashed open by the aberrant's claws.
Ignoring the pain in his arm, Zen raised the bat and sent it crashing on the head of the aberrant, he did it a few times before he saw the aberrant not twitching anymore.
He staggered back with heavy breathing as he propped himself on the wall, he looked at the aberrant that was laying in ruins, he turned around to walk away before his eyes widened as he saw the aberrant stand up, it's deformed head made look extremely creepy coupled with it's bloody teeth.
*AAAARRRGGGGGGHHHH*
The aberrant growled and charged towards Zen who was unable to react in time, and was sent flying and crashing into the wall.
Zen felt like his body was being squashed even though he knew his bones weren't broken, the pain he felt was awful as he gritted his teeth, he was seeing red and his sight was hazy, blood was running down his face from his head.
A weakness, that's all I need.
[The head of a aberrant is a primary weakness]
He saw a row of words before him, he took in a deep breath with difficulty before he picked up the bat. He stood up with some effort as he stared at the aberrant who was walking towards him with a mocking grin with it's head cocked to the side.
Zen frowned as he clenched the handle of the bat with both hands, he ran towards the aberrant who stopped it's movement and stared at him like he was an idiot.
Meanwhile, Sakura woke up with a jolt behind the counter and she immediately winced as pain shot through her head. She grabbed her head and felt cloth on it, removing it from her head, she saw bloodstains on it.
She was confused about what had happened, she noticed how messed up the place behind the counter was, then she heard a crash, rushing to her feet, the whole store was a mess as the shelf were toppled to the ground. She heard growls and turned towards the entrance and window, several aberrants were clawing as if they wanted to enter. That was when she recalled everything.
"Zen?" Sakura muttered as she saw her uncle who had become an aberrant walking towards a direction, she placed her hands on her mouth as she stared at Zen who was in a very bad shape as he stood there.
[The head of an aberrant is its primary weakness]
A row of words appeared before her which made her surprised. She looked towards Zen and noticed how he clenched the bat tightly in his hands. Sakura clasped her hands around her chest and hope whatever deity out there would make the situation they were going through would take a turn for the better.
