Kabuto's expression brightened as he pulled a small deck of cards from his pouch. "That's where I can help. These are my 'Ninja Info Cards.' They're loaded with information on a lot of the candidates here."
Naruto tilted his head, intrigued. "'Ninja Info Cards'? What's that supposed to mean?"
Kabuto held up one of the plain white cards, its surface blank and unassuming. "They're special data cards. When I inject my chakra into them, they reveal the information stored inside. The best part? They're keyed to my chakra signature, so no one else can access the data."
His words caught everyone's attention, and a few curious murmurs broke out among the rookies.
"I'll show you how they work," Kabuto said. He took out a full deck of the cards, rifling through them expertly. Selecting one, he sat on the ground and placed the card down. The card started spinning, and a cloud of smoke appeared above it, covering the card. Then, the smoke disappeared.
In an instant, the blank card transformed, text and diagrams appearing as if written by an invisible hand. The rookies leaned in, their curiosity piqued as they watched the intricate details emerge.
"There," Kabuto said with a grin. "Just like that. Any data I've collected gets displayed, whether it's about a candidate's skills, history, or even their village's strategies."
"Wow!" Sakura exclaimed, her eyes lighting up as she leaned closer to the card.
Kabuto adjusted his glasses, the light glinting off the lenses as he explained, "As you can see, this card displays the number of applicants from each village participating in the exam. It's all here—organized and clear."
The rookies gathered around, peering at the card. Sure enough, the details were unmistakable: village names, participant counts.
After examining it, Sasuke spoke up, his tone calm but sharp. "Do you have information on all the individuals in this room?"
Kabuto smirked slightly, pushing his glasses up with his middle finger in a practiced motion. "Of course. I've been collecting intel for over a year. Just describe how they look and tell me their village, and I'll pull up whatever I have on them."
Sasuke's dark eyes narrowed thoughtfully before he said, "I want information on Gaara from Sunagakure, Rock Lee from Konoha, and…" He paused for a moment his gaze shifted deliberately toward Inoiki before he added, "…Inoiki from Konoha."
All eyes turned toward Inoiki, who met Sasuke's piercing look with a calm demeanour. He didn't seem surprised. Instead, he simply shook his head with a faint smile, understanding Sasuke's motives. Sasuke's curiosity was justified—after all, he had overheard Guy warning Lee to be cautious of Inoiki's abilities.
Kabuto chuckled, clearly enjoying the request. "No challenge at all. You've made my job even easier by giving me names and villages. I've got information on all three of them."
Reaching into his deck of Ninja Info Cards, Kabuto selected three blank ones. With deliberate care, he placed them on the ground in front of him.
Kabuto knelt beside the cards, his movements deliberate as he injected his chakra into the first card. The blank surface flickered before revealing detailed information.
"Let's start with Rock Lee," Kabuto began, holding up the card. "Lee has completed 20 D-Rank missions and 11 C-Rank missions."
The rookies murmured among themselves, nodding at the respectable record.
Kabuto then reached for the second card. As his chakra flowed into it, another set of data materialized. "Now, onto Gaara from Sunagakure," he continued. "He's completed 8 C-Rank missions and one B-Rank mission. Since he's from another village, I couldn't gather much else. However, there's something notable—while completing that B-Rank mission, Gaara emerged completely unscathed."
A hush fell over the room as the weight of Kabuto's words sank in. The thought of a Genin accomplishing a B-Rank mission without sustaining a single injury left the rookies visibly shaken.
Shikamaru broke the silence, muttering under his breath, "Damn. A Genin completing a B-Rank mission, and coming out unharmed? That's insane…"
The tension in the room thickened. Most of the rookies looked uneasy, the revelation adding to their already mounting nerves. But amidst the murmurs and widened eyes, Inoiki remained calm, his expression unchanged. He already knew this about Gaara.
Finally, Kabuto turned to the third card. With a slight smirk, he infused it with chakra. The blank surface shimmered as detailed text and diagrams came into focus.
"And now, Inoiki," Kabuto announced, reading the card with an air of intrigue. "I have to say, Inoiki's journey is quite unique. Unlike most Genins, he was the only member of his academy team to graduate—his original teammates weren't qualified to advance. Because of this, he was reassigned to a team of veteran ninjas, led by a Chunin named Izumo."
Kabuto's voice carried across the room as he revealed the next shocking detail. "On his first mission outside the village, Inoiki's team was ambushed on their way back. I don't have all the specifics of the battle, but here's what's known: Inoiki single-handedly annihilated the enemy team. All ten ninjas, including their Jonin leader, were killed."
The room fell into a stunned silence. More than 150 Genins had their attention locked on Kabuto's words, and every single one of them was shaken by the revelation.
