The dimly lit corridors of Aryavarta Medical College felt alive with shadows. Flickering lights cast elongated silhouettes against the walls, while the distant echo of footsteps reverberated through the empty hallways. It was a night like any other—except for the thrill of the unknown lurking just beyond sight.
A small group of fourth-year MBBS students huddled together outside the main entrance, their breath visible in the cool night air.
"Are you all ready to see if the legends are true?" Riya, the adventurous leader, grinned with excitement, her flashlight beam dancing across the stone façade of the ancient building.
Karan, the skeptic of the group, rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the unease simmering beneath his bravado. "Legends? You mean ghost stories. This is just an old building. Let's get this over with."
Neha glanced around nervously, her voice barely above a whisper. "You know what they say about the anatomy lab... People say it's cursed."
Vikram, the joker of the group, flashed a nervous smile. "Cursed? More like it needs a good cleaning. Let's get some good footage for the documentary." He raised the camcorder, capturing their anxious faces as they exchanged nervous laughter.
Armed with flashlights and Vikram's camcorder, they stepped into the darkened halls. The air was thick with the scent of old books and dust, and the shadows seemed to shift with every flick of their lights. As they made their way past the reception area, they shared local legends about past students who had vanished under mysterious circumstances—tales filled with whispers of lost souls and forbidden experiments that had left an indelible mark on the college's history.
"Did you know," Riya began, "that one of the students went missing after a night just like this? They say he was last seen in the old anatomy lab."
Their journey led them deeper into the college, passing doors marked with faded names and numbers. The anatomy lab loomed ahead, and Neha hesitated. "I don't like this place," she murmured.
Riya pushed forward, fueled by excitement. "Come on, what's the worst that could happen?"
As they entered the lab, the sight of old, dusty tools hanging on the walls sent a shiver down Neha's spine. The fluorescent lights flickered, casting an eerie glow over the room filled with old cadavers and medical equipment. Karan tried to maintain his composure. "It's just a lab," he said, but even he felt the tension in the air.
Vikram, attempting to lighten the mood, quipped, "Well, if any ghosts show up, at least we know they'll have a good grasp of anatomy!"
Just then, a sudden creaking noise echoed through the corridor. The group halted, hearts racing. The lights flickered again, plunging them into darkness for a heartbeat.
"Did you hear that?" Karan asked, eyes wide.
"Probably just the building settling," Riya replied, though her confidence wavered.
Neha, feeling a cold draft, pointed towards a shadow darting across the far end of the corridor. "What was that?"
The air grew colder as they stood frozen, uncertainty and fear coursing through them. Suddenly, a chilling voice whispered from the shadows, "Get out…"
Panic gripped the group. Riya's flashlight beam wavered as they exchanged terrified glances. Vikram, unable to keep his humor, let out a shaky laugh that sounded more like a gasp.
"What do we do?" Neha whispered, her eyes darting around the darkened room.
Before anyone could respond, the lights flickered back on, illuminating the corridor in stark relief. But the shadow was gone, and the oppressive silence returned, heavier than before.
"Let's get out of here," Karan said, urgency threading through his voice.
As they turned to leave, Riya hesitated, looking back into the darkness. "Wait, we can't leave yet. We have to see if it's real!"
But as she stepped forward, the cold air intensified, wrapping around them like a vice. Another whisper echoed, louder this time, "Leave… now…"
The group exchanged frantic looks, their resolve crumbling. With hearts pounding, they rushed toward the exit, the chilling presence behind them urging them onward. The night was just beginning, and the true horror of Aryavarta Medical College was about to unfold.
