"No, that's not it!" The Fatty shouted, holding his head. "It's not just me—he definitely felt them too. They're not dead! No one is dead! Everyone is alive!"

In his speech, the pronouns shifted from referring to a woman to referring to himself.

"Everyone is alive! No, it's you all, you're all alive, hehe… All alive in my body."

When he opened his eyes again, he was greeted by dazzling sunlight. The Fatty realized he was lying on the ground—no, more accurately, on a damp beach, with waves approaching him.

Startled, he scrambled to his feet.

"Awake?"

It was the doctor's voice.

The Fatty turned in surprise and saw the doctor lying not far behind him, in a sandpit he had dug, covering his face with a large leaf that was probably scavenged from somewhere to shield him from the direct sunlight.

If it weren't for the strange situation, he would've thought the doctor was here for a vacation.

"Doctor, what's going on?"

"How do you feel?" Jiang Cheng removed the leaf from his face, squinting because of the intense sunlight. He placed the leaf on his head instead and squinted his eyes at the Fatty, saying, "Get up and walk a few steps."

Before fully understanding what was going on, the Fatty decided to follow the doctor's instructions. He got up and walked a couple of circles, then stomped his feet as directed by Jiang Cheng.

"Doctor, I feel fine. Everything's good, my body feels fine," he said, standing up straight with a slight stiffness in his legs. He swallowed and, with some hesitation, asked, "But I just want to know what exactly happened?"

"How did I end up here when I opened my eyes?"

Jiang Cheng thought for a moment and replied, "You passed out earlier. I brought you here."

"Just like that?" The Fatty blinked in disbelief.

"Just like that."

The Fatty looked around, somewhat helpless, and said, "Doctor, there's no one else here. Don't joke around. You're so lazy, how could you lift me all the way here without a reason?"

His memory had a gap.

He only remembered the doctor asking him a question, and then… then he couldn't remember anything. When he opened his eyes again, he was here.

He watched Jiang Cheng open his mouth again, and his heart couldn't help but stir.

He had a feeling in his gut that the lost memory was very important to him, and if he could retrieve it, things might become clearer.

"Don't you know your own physical condition?" Jiang Cheng, holding the large leaf, said with a mocking tone. "Carry you? Dream on. I'll tell you the truth—you were dragged all the way here by me."

The Fatty looked beside him for confirmation. Sure enough, there was a long, winding mark on the ground that looked like a snake's trail, stretching from under his feet all the way to a cliff nearby.

There were several large circular depressions in the middle.

The Fatty could imagine that this must have been caused by the doctor getting tired of dragging him, throwing him on the ground, and kicking him to make him roll along.

"If you're still breathing, let's go see the forest nearby," Jiang Cheng muttered. "If you're out of breath, then…"

"Doctor," the Fatty sighed. "I'll go with you."

Near the beach, the Fatty hadn't directly stepped into the sea, but his body was still damp from the splashing waves. Jiang Cheng carefully walked towards the shady spots near the cliffs.

A gust of wind blew by, and the Fatty couldn't help but shiver.

"Why are you so close to me?" Jiang Cheng tilted his head and asked, "If you're cold, go walk in the sun."

The Fatty followed Jiang Cheng closely, shaking his head. "No, doctor, being close to you makes me feel happy."

"Tsk," Jiang Cheng thought for a moment, feeling like he had heard those words before.

Although the Fatty had his own suspicions about what happened during the memory gap, after speculating, he thought it likely had something to do with the nightmare mission. But with so little evidence, it was unrealistic to figure things out from that alone.

Fortunately, the doctor was still by his side after the amnesia.

He might have figured something out.

With this thought in mind, the Fatty pursed his lips and then looked at Jiang Cheng. They had now walked in a large circle along the cliffs and had reached the edge of the forest.

According to the doctor, during the time he was unconscious, he hadn't seen Su Xiaoxiao and Su An, the siblings, come out of the forest.

It seemed that the two… might be in great danger.

But it was only when they stood here that the Fatty truly felt the strangeness of the forest.

The vast forest was eerily silent.

There were no birds chirping, and no sounds of small animals running around. The forest was as quiet as if it were dead.

Although every tree and plant in sight seemed perfectly normal, the strange feeling came from how they all fit together.

As his gaze extended through the gaps between the trees, that eerie sensation grew more intense, until the Fatty realized something was wrong. When he tried to pull his gaze away, he found that he couldn't.

The darkness deep in the forest felt like a sticky liquid—once touched, it couldn't be shaken off. He felt his entire body slowly sinking… sinking further.

Everything around him shifted into a world of darkness, as though he were sinking into the deep sea.

A strange sound filled his ears.

The Fatty's pupils suddenly contracted. The sound was magnificent and grand, something he had never heard before. But almost immediately, he realized what it was.

Whale song!

It was the whale song they had mentioned!

He could hear a dull, booming sound like a deep underwater explosion from the grand noise. It was slow but powerful, and he instinctively judged that it was the heartbeat of this whale.

The overwhelming pressure poured down and shattered the darkness before him, and the Fatty snapped back to his senses in the next second.

His back, which had dried in the sea breeze, was now soaked with cold sweat again.

He had… heard the whale song.

"Step back!"

Before he could fully regain his bearings, a loud shout came. The Fatty instinctively turned toward the direction of the voice, but before he could react, a massive force knocked him down.

Although the thing that knocked him down wasn't heavy, the force behind it was enormous. Otherwise, even though he wasn't prepared, his large frame wouldn't have been easily knocked over.

In reality, not only was he knocked down, but the thing also ended up shamefully straddling him.

Unable to move.

Dizzy from the impact, the Fatty saw through multiple blurry images and finally identified the person straddling him. "Doctor?" he called out.

At that moment, the doctor completely ignored him and quickly got up, looking toward the forest. Two figures were stumbling out, supporting each other.

It was Su Xiaoxiao and her brother Su An.

"Save us!"

As soon as Su Xiaoxiao saw Jiang Cheng, her eyes, which had been extremely weak, suddenly flared up with light. But shortly after, as if her energy had burned out, she staggered, and the two of them collapsed at the edge of the forest.
