"I'm not going either," Luo Yi leaned against the bed, his pale complexion easing a bit.

He had been with Zhen Jianren, so their stance was naturally aligned.

The chubby guy anxiously looked at Jiang Cheng.

The situation didn't look promising for him.

Unexpectedly...

"You misunderstood," Jiang Cheng said calmly. "No one is forcing you to go to the equipment center. If none of you want to go, I'll go myself."

Hearing this, the chubby guy shuddered violently.

He immediately looked at Jiang Cheng, thinking he had misheard.

But Jiang Cheng wasn't joking in the slightest.

He sat up straight, his gaze calm like water, exuding a sense of steadiness.

Calm, fearless, and reliable.

A stark contrast to the scheming nature of certain others.

No one had expected Jiang Cheng to take on this task himself. Zhen Jianren and Luo Yi exchanged a quick glance, their faces filled with disbelief.

They couldn't fathom what Jiang Cheng was planning.

"Now, it's your turn," Jiang Cheng continued. "Who's going to find the woman in charge of the rehearsal?" He turned to look in another direction, "And who will go find the students?"

After a moment...

"I'll find that woman," Yu Wen suddenly spoke up, her gaze toward Jiang Cheng gradually changing. "I know where to find her, and we should be able to communicate well."

Jiang Cheng nodded to her, "Good."

Zhang Yinyin and Zhou Taifu naturally agreed to go with her.

Especially Zhou Taifu, who even stood up and positioned himself behind Yu Wen.

Since Jiang Cheng had taken on the task of going to the equipment center, Zhen Jianren's expression had become peculiar.

He couldn't help but question his previous assessment of Jiang Cheng.

But now, with everyone's attention shifting away from Jiang Cheng and back to him, he could only mutter, "Then we'll be responsible for finding the students."

"Alright," Jiang Cheng stood up, "it's settled then. Tomorrow, we'll split up and act."

He didn't bother with any useless warnings about staying safe. As the sky outside darkened, everyone returned to their rooms.

"Doctor," as soon as the door closed, the chubby guy couldn't wait to rush over, "what are you doing? The equipment center is clearly the most dangerous place, yet you're volunteering to go?"

He couldn't understand Jiang Cheng's decision at all, just as sometimes Jiang Cheng couldn't understand him.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Cheng leisurely twisted open a bottle of mineral water, took a sip, then unwrapped a piece of chocolate, broke off a small piece, and popped it into his mouth.

After doing all this, he slowly said to the chubby guy, "There could be danger with the students and the rehearsal woman as well."

The chubby guy's eyes widened, "How could that be the same?"

"Relax," Jiang Cheng sat on the bed, chewing the chocolate. Then, as if remembering something, he looked at the chubby guy and said, "If you think it's too dangerous, you can join Yu Wen's group."

The chubby guy promptly declined. He knew the difference between short-term benefits and long-term advantages.

Room 405.

Zhen Jianren's face was so cold it could drip water, and Luo Yi didn't look much better.

One standing, one sitting.

Especially Luo Yi, who looked deeply worried.

Luo Yi bit his lip, suddenly standing up from the bed and angrily throwing his half-smoked cigarette to the floor. In a cold voice, he said, "What the hell is Hao Shuai up to? Why would he volunteer to go to the equipment room?"

After a while, Zhen Jianren's voice came through, his usual arrogance gone. Now, he seemed to have returned to the man he was at the beginning.

Elegant, meticulous, and exacting.

"If he's doing this, he must have a reason."

"What reason?"

"Do you remember what the woman at the rehearsal site said?" Zhen Jianren didn't even look at him, speaking to himself, "She said the school leaders would review the video replay to determine the next rehearsal time."

Luo Yi didn't understand what he was getting at.

He only vaguely remembered that sentence.

If Zhen Jianren hadn't mentioned it, he would have forgotten.

"What are you trying to—"

Zhen Jianren glanced out the window, his tone filled with an indescribable meaning, "But no one has come yet."

Like a flash of lightning, it suddenly dawned on Luo Yi what Zhen Jianren was implying.

The school placed such importance on this celebration, so why hadn't anyone come to collect the video yet?

Didn't they need to know how the rehearsal was going?

And what about the school leaders that woman mentioned?

"So, you're saying the claim about the school leaders reviewing the video was just a front," Luo Yi said. "The real purpose was to make us focus on the video because only we can see it!"

Zhen Jianren tossed aside his cigarette butt and waved his hand to disperse the smoke in front of him.

His fingernails were clearly well-maintained, reflecting a soft light under the dim lamp.

It was hard to imagine that, in a room with two men, the latter held the real power.

He stared at the dark green metal cabinet in front of him, casually extending his left hand to slowly open one of the half-closed compartments.

There was nothing inside.

He knew that, and his face showed no surprise.

He was simply repeating the motion mechanically.

Along with it came an unpleasant scraping sound.

Luo Yi didn't like it.

But he didn't stop him, only furrowing his brow slightly.

Because this was the habit of the man in front of him.

Many people perform repetitive, meaningless actions while thinking.

For example, writers scratching their heads when stuck, or suspects constantly adjusting their glasses when questioned by police.

Zhen Jianren's habit was to repeatedly open and close cabinets or drawers.

Perhaps it had something to do with his past.

But Luo Yi wasn't interested.

Finally, the annoying scraping sound ceased.

Luo Yi looked seriously at Zhen Jianren, which signified that the latter had found the answer to his inner question.

"Two possibilities." Zhen Jianren's eyes sharpened as he suddenly spoke. "One, the people in room 404 have already discovered a clue we haven't noticed yet. A clue so important they're willing to take risks for it."

Luo Yi thought for a moment and lowered his voice to ask, "And the second possibility?"

"The people in room 404 have already reached some sort of agreement with the woman from room 406." Zhen Jianren glanced at his teammate, then continued, "They've started working together."

"Earlier... it was all just a show they put on together."

Luo Yi's pupils trembled violently.
