Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

ZZZT!

Delenor woke up after feeling a shock run through her.

Feel weak all over,

She relaxed her eyelids.

"... Errr she…"

"Give her another shock,"

She jolted up at the sound of an electric spark.

"I'm awake," Delenor took deep breaths. She glanced around, noting the lesser Children as snow covered their blood red cloak. Vodtak took off his hood as he approached Delenor.

"The place is bare," he said gesturing to the plain snow bed, surrounded by leafless trees.

Bare?, She thought as she noted the tunnel. Right they can't see it,

She rose to her feet and walked towards the tunnel, "there's a tunnel over there." she gestured towards the center, her hands still bound.

"Ahh," Vodtak said with his hands on his waist. "Who's cloaking the entrance?"

He walked towards her, "you or her."

Delenor's eyes widened, right, they don't know…

"That's the proof she's still alive," Delenor said. "No one else can go in except me, I'll get what you want."

What are you doing…, she sighed. No use resisting now… I think.

"Better," Vodtak said. "I was thinking I'd have to force you on that one, " he gestured behind her. Delenor turned and noted some refugees held hostage.

Come on…

"Just go in and find out her place of birth," he said. "That's all I want… for now," He narrowed his eyes on her.

Delenor sighed and approached the tunnel. Its doors opened and she headed inside. The damp metal tunnel was dark at first but lights flickered on as she walked downwards, further into the slope. She observed her scars as she walked.

Boss deserves this, she hid, abandoned us, she thought. But what if she had a reason for it… wait, the hostages.

She hurried through the tunnel, thuds of her foot stomping the metal floor accompanied her. The room at the end of the tunnel lit up and the consoles chimed as she entered.

Woo cool… no time,

She unlocked one of the consoles.

The Geng's place of birth, she thought as she typed. The console displayed a lot of information.

No time to read… I wonder why I hadn't thought of this lead.

She pulled out another console pad and copied the data.

Have to hurry,she thought.

She ran through the tunnel, lights flickered on as she passed them, illuminating the dark tunnel. She skidded to a stop after she got to snow ground and lifted the console pad.

"I have it," she said through breaths. Vodtak's blades were already armed, ready to strike the refugees.

"Aha, I was about to start taking them out, as I thought you had other plans," he said.

This sick…

He noted Delenor's scowl as she eyed him. He gestured to her and a lesser Child took the console pad.

"Scout the area," Vodtak said. "Return when you've confirmed her presence,"

Vodtak walked towards Delenor and pulled out bandages. He grumbled a little.

What's he thinking,

A 'Child' asked Vodtak, "What happens if she cloaks herself from us, like she did in the tunnel."

Vodtak gritted his teeth, "Alright stay and wait, we would leave with her,"He gestured at Delenor.

Delenor sat on the snow still taking deep breaths. Vodtak sat on the snow beside her and started wrapping Delenor's wounds.

Delenor resisted, "What is this?"

"Me being me," he said as he continued wrapping her wounds.
