Whirr! Whirr!
Ray stepped out of the teleportation array, his vision spinning slightly as he adjusted to the shift. The disorientation caused by the portal was brief, and within moments, he steadied himself.
But just as his senses returned, an overwhelming stench assaulted his nose, causing him to gag instinctively. It was as if something had been rotting here for days—an unbearable mix of decay and sulfur that made his stomach churn.
"Ugh," he groaned, covering his nose with his hand in a desperate attempt to block out the foul odor.
Behind him, his teammates, Elara and a brown-haired boy named Karl, stepped through the portal. The smell hit them just as hard, and both immediately reacted.
"What in the world is that?" Karl muttered, his voice muffled by his sleeve as he covered his mouth.
