Breathing heavily, I watched as the massive gate creaked open, seemingly of its own accord, as if inviting me deeper into the passage. The flames lining the passage flickered to life one by one, casting long, dancing shadows across the walls. The corridor ahead was bathed in an ominous glow, the firelight revealing the patterns drawn on the wall.
Each step I took echoed through the narrow hallway, the heat from the flames pressing against my skin. A stark contrast to the cold passage way.
