Chapter 4 - Flowing through time.

______________

Third chapter.

|Quote: 004.

"The journey of rebirth is one filled with uncertainty and confusion, like a traveler lost in a dense fog-bound wilderness. Each step we take into this new existence is a stumble forward into the unknown, shrouded by the mist of memory. We are like children learning to walk, uncertain and uncoordinated. But through the confusion, there is a spark of hope, a flicker of understanding that tells us to keep moving forward, to keep pushing against the haze until it lifts and we can see the path before us once again."

"Seems like it's not working much.. I should just do it later."

The thought of summoning his status window floated through Kyo's mind, but he quickly dismissed it, opting instead to explore his surroundings.

The place felt like a labyrinth, but he eventually stumbled upon a trail of footsteps and smoke that led him towards a direction. As he approached, the sounds of chatter and music grew louder, and before he knew it, he arrived at the edge of a bustling town.

He was met with the sight of a colossal town, brimming with life and peace

It was a tableau of joyous laughters, bustling streets with food stands, blacksmiths, merchants and children playing around.

The rhythmic tunes of a vibrant band echoed throughout the town.

It was truly brimming with life.

Kyo cautiously explored the town, his expression a mixture of awe and uncertainty. As a stranger in this place, he wondered if outsiders were even allowed there. However, he couldn't help but marvel at the array of tantalizing and sweet treats on display. However, the realization that he didn't have a single penny to his name at all quickly dampened his spirits. He jealously watched as the children's parent handed over their coins in exchange for sweets for their children, while he could only stare at it  and yearn for it..

"Damn.. they're so lucky.."

Dejected, Kyo muttered to himself, his voice tinged with envy. He sighed wearily at his predicament, even though there was no one to blame. Wandering aimlessly through the town as he took in the sights, he finally found a bench to rest on. He sank down, his mind racing as he grappled with his next move.

"What do I do now?!"

he thought, his eyes scanning the lively town before him.

"I have no moneyyyy-.. and I don't know anyone here. This isn't looking good…"

"Wait.."

Kyo's eyes suddenly brightened as a plan formed in his mind. An idea that seemed so obvious now, it made him chuckle with delight.

"I can just join the hunters' guild and earn some coins by completing simple commissions thingy!"

he thought, feeling a surge of pride for his own ingenuity. Eagerly standing up from the bench, however, he paused, realizing he had no idea where the guild was.

"fuck-.."

he muttered to himself, looking around for any indication on how to find the special hunters' guild.

"oh."

Kyo's disappointment quickly dissipated as he remembered that he could understand the language of the people in this town. Encouraged, he continued his stroll, accidentally bumping into a cloaked figure.

"I'm sorry sir!"

Kyo was apologizing profusely, Kyo looked at the stranger, taking in his covered figure,

the only visible part being the lower half of his face.

The cloaked man, in return, looked at Kyo with a mixture of surprise and confusion. After a moment of silence, the stranger simply nodded and continued on his way, leaving Kyo scratching his head in confusion.

Hold on..

Kyo suddenly realized that he might be able to get some directions to the hunters' guild if he talked to the man he had just bumped into. After a few panting breaths from running after the stranger, Kyo grabbed the man's shoulder to get his attention. The man turned around, looking at Kyo with an expression of mild curiosity, as if wondering what Kyo could possibly want from him.

"Can you please tell me the directions for the hunter's guild!?!"

Kyo asks, but he couldn't help but notice the man's reserved demeanor, his silence making the entire situation a bit mysterious. However, the man finally responded by lifting his arm and pointing to the left side of the town, then began walking in that direction.

Kyo's heart raced as he followed behind. Was the stranger leading him to the hunters' guild? Or could it be something else? If not, he was prepared to use his ability if necessary…

Speaking of abilities, doesn't he have an ability that can tell the actions and crimes of a person?

____________

Memoir's sight.

The ability to perceive the history and actions of an individuals.

But, the extent to the accessible knowledge of the individual are contingent upon the level difference between the user and the target.

___________

Kyo tilted his head to the side, feeling a sense of curiosity building up within him. He had been saving this ability for a special situation, and it seemed like this might be worth checking it.

As the two continued walking, he tried to inconspicuously look at the man's profile. He observed his actions and appearance but to his dismay, all he saw was an error message flash across his vision: "Unknown."

It appeared that his ability wasn't working on this mysterious person. What did it mean? And what would happen now?…

Kyo was puzzled. Although he was only level 5, he should have been able to see some information about the stranger's profile. However, it was as if the man's profile was locked or hidden in some way. The fact that the cloaked figure covered his entire appearance, except for the lower part of his face, added to the mystery. What secrets was the man hiding? Kyo could sense that there was definitely more to this odd stranger than meets the eye.

Even though the man's face was mostly hidden, Kyo could discern that he had ivory skin and dark, almost crimson-hued hair - a striking feature. The man's physique and the way he carried himself made Kyo wonder if he was someone famous. With that thought in mind, he shook his head slightly, focusing on the task at hand.

The man finally came to a stop, his cloak billowing slightly in the breeze as he raised his arm to point at a building in front of them. The hunter's guild.

"Thanks alot sir."

Kyo thanked the man, though he was met only with a nod in response. And just like that, the stranger turned and walked away, leaving Kyo alone facing the hunters' guild's entrance. Kyo couldn't help but notice that the building looked more like a bar than a professional guild's premises. Curious, he shook his head and approached the board displaying various types of missions.

But he needed one that was easy enough for him to do so.

"Pick up about 15 Ivy tears."

Information: Deep in the forest, at the right corner of the town, there lies a vibrant field filled with a vast array of plants and flowers. But you need to pick up some Ivy tears.

the Ivy tears. These delicate blooms are renowned about recipes for healing potions and many more  but are rarely seen due to their potent poison and the immense time it takes to safely collect them without being affected by its poison.

C rank mission.

Rewards: 10 silver Astin.

Kyo carefully reviewed the mission information, feeling confident in its simplicity given his resistance to poison. He picked up the mission flyer and strode over to the counter, holding it up while awaiting the guild register's attention.

The register looked up, their tired eyes scanning over Kyo's face for a moment before speaking.

"Your name?"

The lady enquired, bet tone laced with exhaustion.

Kyo couldn't help but observe the slightly disheveled state of the guild members around him. It appeared that a few of them were behaving somewhat drunkenly, as if the guild itself was more like a tavern than a professional establishment. Despite this, the lady decided to focus on the task at hand, turning her attention back to the kyo.

"I'm.. uhm."

After a moment of contemplation, Kyo decided to use a false name, just in case he found himself in a dangerous situation ofcourse..

he clears his throat and tries to speak professionally.

"Xyrus, level 5."

he introduced himself to the guild register using a name he had randomly thought of. The lady barely glanced at him, quickly writing down the name before stamping the mission flyer with a bird-themed pattern encircled by flowers.

"It's optional to pick up more than 15 Ivy tears if you want it."

The lady speaks behind the register.

She glanced at Kyo, sensing that he was perhaps new to the town. Being experienced at her job, she took down the necessary information without much fuss, making sure to keep the process simple and unintimidating for the newcomer.

Profile:

Name: Xyrus.

Gender: Male

Level: 5.

"Here's your card, you can use that."

The lady hands out the ID card for kyo and kyo takes it happily, thankful for the man that he managed to find the guild and the lady not being so bad.

"Thanks, I'll be on my way then!!"

Kyo says eagerly and then exits out the door in a rush, leaving the hunter's guild happily while holding the card and poster.

With the map clutched in his hand, Kyo scanned its details, noting that his current location was the hunter's guild and the destination was a vibrant field filled with flowers towards the right corner of the town. Confident that locating it wouldn't be difficult, he set off towards the specified direction.

As he made his way out of the town to the right corner, he was suddenly approached by  two knights as they demanded to see his card.

"Card please."

The knight with dirty blonde hair regarded Kyo with a stern, intimidating glare, as if he was an unwelcome outsider from another place, Feeling somewhat intimidated by the knight, Kyo awkwardly handed over his IDCARD to the knight.

...

After a moment of careful inspection, the knight emitted a satisfied hum, signaling that Kyo was cleared to pass. The knight then stepped aside, opening the gate and allowing Kyo entry out of the town.

".. that was a scary guy.."

After exiting the town, Kyo couldn't help but mutter to himself, still feeling a little rattled by the knight's intense glare. Shaking off the unease, he tried to shift his focus back to the mission he was on. He couldn't allow himself to be distracted by the stern gaze by just one knight.

Kyo carefully made his way through the forest, constantly checking around of his surroundings.

The chirping of birds and rustling of leaves filled the air, a musical of sounds that echoed throughout the woods. After some time, he felt a cool breeze blowing through his hair and looked up to see a magnificent field landscape spread out before him…

The field was an explosion mixed of colors and life, every spot bursting with greenery, flowers, and trees all around.

The landscape was untouched,

as if untouched by time itself..

A sense of peace emanated from the surroundings,

a soothing fragrance to the soul

The air was light with the sweet fragrance of countless flowers, their petals swaying gently in the breeze, creating a soft, mesmerizing dance

Here and there, small creatures darted among the foliage, adding to the magical atmosphere. It felt like a painting, a masterpiece created by nature itself.

Nature sure is amazing isn't it?

———————————————

"Woah.."

Kyo found himself utterly captivated by the stunning and beautiful spectacle stretched before him. The field of flowers surpassed even his imagination of the fields, the beauty of it leaving him breathless. With each step he took forward, the scenery seemed to become even more vibrant and beautiful. However…

as much as he wanted to relax in the field,

he knew he had a commission to complete. Well Luckily, the mission didn't have a time limit, so he could afford to spend a few moments here, enjoying the breathtaking view…

Kyo set about searching the fields for the Ivy tears, which resembled a fusion of Valley tears and hydrangeas. He speculated whether it was a hybrid plant, but his curiosity was interrupted as he spotted a cluster of the elusive Ivy tears. He activated his ability

< poison resistance | W | >, effectively neutralizing the plants' poison. This allowed him to quickly and safely collect the Ivy tears with ease…

"Well that was easier than I expected."

Kyo exhaled in relief, settling down comfortably in the soft field of grass. Above him floated a neon purple status window, showcasing his progress. He added the Ivy tears to his inventory, thankful that the commission posed no great dangers, even for someone at his current level. He felt reassured and relaxed, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment.

"I should probably get back in… iduno."

Kyo paid no heed to the passing of time, completely undisturbed by the lack of a clock nearby. Judging by the position of the sun in the sky, he estimated it was around the afternoon. The calming sounds of birds chirping and the serene ambiance all around him made for a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. However, his moment of relaxation was suddenly interrupted by an unexpected event…!
