The dense foliage of the forest surrounded Adam and his group as they pressed deeper into its shadows. Each step they took crackled against the fallen leaves and twigs, their senses alert to every sound and movement around them. The air smelled damp and earthy, and the occasional chirping of unseen creatures echoed in the distance.
As they moved forward, a peculiar sight stopped them in their tracks. Scattered across the forest floor lay the bodies of numerous flying rodents, their small forms limp and lifeless. Blood speckled the ground beneath them, and the pungent metallic smell of it wafted through the air.
"What happened here?" Lily asked, her brows furrowing as she stepped closer to inspect the scene. Her black eyes scanned the area, cautious yet curious.
