As soon as Adam entered the bedroom, he activated his skill.
[Host skill active: God's Eye]
Adam scanned the room and discovered 10 gold coins hidden in Gobar's safe, located in his bedroom.
Just as Adam approached the safe, Gobar burst in, wearing only underwear and sporting a lecherous grin.
Adam's gaze met Gobar's, who had a creepy smile plastered on his face.
Gobar said, "Ever since I've seen you, I've been unable to control myself... Today, I will fulfill all my desires."
From Gobar's perspective:
Typically, girls fled or cowered when Gobar spoke like this.
But Adam's reaction was unusual. Instead of fear, Adam's gaze seemed to regard Gobar as prey.
Gobar, undeterred by Adam's unnerving stare, continued, "How delightful it will be to see you cry, beg, and plead before me."
Gobar, drooling, lunged towards Adam, but suddenly, Adam vanished.
Gobar's eyes widened in shock, then searing pain exploded in his head, and he crumpled forward, unconscious.
From a third-person perspective:
Gobar had taken only one step towards Adam when Adam swiftly exploited his agility, appearing behind Gobar in the blink of an eye.
Adam's speed proved too much for Gobar, who failed to react as Adam delivered a crushing blow to the back of his neck.
The force sent Gobar crashing to the ground, knocked out cold.
Adam gazed down at Gobar's prone form and sneered, "Horny asshole... get some sleep."
Adam transformed back to his true self and activated his Skill Mask.
[Host skill active: Mask]
With his skill activated, Adam assumed Gobar's form and admired his reflection, asking, "How do I look?"
Leaving the real Gobar lying there, Adam proceeded to the safe, shattered the lock, and claimed the 10 gold coins, adding them to his inventory.
"I've secured the funds; now, I just need to escape... I'll rest tonight and leave tomorrow morning," Adam said, settling into Gobar's bed.
Scene from Base
1 hour later
Royal Knight Jeff arrived at the fifth-layer base's entrance.
"Summon Officer Edwin," Jeff instructed the executor accompanying him.
The executor complied, calling Edwin from within the base.
Jeff demanded, "Officer Edwin, provide a detailed report on the current situation."
Edwin hesitated, "Royal Knight Jeff, I apologize, but I'm still unaware of what transpired."
Jeff brushed past Edwin, entering the shop and descending into the base.
Jeff entered the base, meticulously examining each body until he reached Officer Sir Tristan's lifeless form. He sat beside Tristan, scrutinizing his body.
Behind Jeff, Officers Edwin and Vicc approached, refraining from speaking due to the Royal Knights' formidable reputation.
After a moment, Jeff stood and addressed the officers. "Only one person could have done this. He killed everyone with precision."
Edwin and Vicc exchanged shocked glances. "How is this possible?" they asked in unison.
Jeff closed his eyes, heightening his senses. A faint, red thread-like line leading to the base's gate caught his attention.
Jeff opened his eyes. "I know where our suspect has gone."
Officer Edwin turned to Jeff. "What do you mean? Do you know his destination?"
Jeff's gaze locked onto Edwin. "Follow me. I can sense his scent – the blood of our fallen brothers lingers on him."
Jeff tracked the thread-like scent, exiting the base and heading toward the West Gate.
As Jeff navigated the dark alleys of the fifth layer, the Red Fragrance Fiber led him to a deserted alley. Upon entering, he discovered a lifeless body.
Jeff approached the three bodies and discovered a sword lodged in the ground, emitting red threads – a sign of the executors and officer's blood. Jeff was now uncertain about his next move.
Executors Edwin and Vicc joined him in the deserted alley, shocked by the gruesome scene. "What is this?" they asked.
The executor examined the bodies and turned to Edwin. "They died the same way as our people – identical wounds."
Royal Knight Jeff gestured to the sword in the ground. "That sword is issued to First-String trainees."
The group fell silent, stunned by the revelation.
"Let's get out of here," Jeff ordered.
Back at the base, Jeff instructed Edwin, "Compile a list of every training officer, trainer, and personnel present before the attack."
Edwin hesitated. "When we arrived, the attackers had burned all important documents."
Jeff countered, "That's impossible. Standard protocol dictates keeping duplicate documents for situations like this."
Edwin explained, "We checked the backup files, but the attacker was aware of them too and burned those as well. However, central command received some information from the base a few months ago, which we've managed to retrieve."
Jeff urged, "We must hasten our investigation or risk losing the attacker's trail."
Fifteen minutes later, an executor returned with the requested information. "Sir, one month ago, there were 101 members here. We've accounted for 100 dead bodies, but one person is missing."
Jeff instructed, "Provide me with all information about the missing individual."
The executor replied, "The missing person is Adam Bek, a 15-year-old Second-String trainee with no special abilities or notable skills."
Edwin downplayed the lead, "A 15-year-old boy? I don't think this is suspicious."
Jeff countered, "This is our attacker. He knew the base intimately from his training and hid his abilities until the perfect moment to strike."
"We must apprehend him swiftly. His unique skills are unknown, posing a potential threat to the Kingdom. We can't let him escape the city."
Jeff continued, "Send all gathered information to the Third Prince. I'll inform City Garden. Do you have a photo of Adam Beck?"
The executor replied, "No, we don't keep photos of assassins."
6:00 AM in the morning
"Knock, knock... Sir, wake up, it's morning," Gobar's servant, Ko, called from outside the gate.
Adam, still in Gobar's form, opened his eyes and sat up. The sunrise streamed through the window.
"Coming!" Adam replied in Gobar's voice.
Ko persisted, "Sir, I'm waiting outside. It's time to open the shop. Customers will arrive soon."
Adam rose, lifted Gobar's unconscious body, and placed it on the bed.
Exiting the room, Adam locked the door and instructed Ko, "I won't open the shop today. I have an errand. Prepare a carriage."
Ko asked, "As you wish, Master. Shall I bring your breakfast? It's ready on the table. And, Master, what about the girl?"
Adam's gaze locked onto Ko. "The person in the room is not to be disturbed, regardless of what happens. Keep the door closed."
Ko bowed and departed.
Adam sat down to eat, finishing his meal just as Ko returned.
"Master, your carriage has arrived," Ko announced.
Adam instructed, "Remain outside the house today. Do not enter until I return."
Ko nodded. "As you wish, Master."
