Chapter 68: The Kinetic Gambit
As Adam observed the approaching knights and their captain from a distance, he steadied his breath.
Disguised in the form of Victor, the head of the Kol family, he felt the weight of his mission settle over him. "I could probably handle all of them at once," he thought, assessing the number of men.
But a twinge of caution stopped him. He had no way of knowing how soon reinforcements might arrive from outside. "Better not risk it. I need to finish this swiftly."
Adam positioned himself in the corridor, just opposite where the captain and his entourage would soon appear.
Behind him lay the room where he had eliminated the real Victor not long ago, along with his brother.
The sound of approaching footsteps grew louder until the knight captain emerged from around the corner, coming face-to-face with what he believed was his lord, Victor.
