Chapter 13 - Introducing : KIRAN

The next morning, Kael woke with an uneasy excitement thrumming through him. The early light crept across the room once again, and despite Rudra's laid-back attitude from the day before, Kael had the distinct feeling that their training was going to be anything but ordinary.

As Kael, Jin, Tarek, and Daren gathered outside, Rudra stood leaning against the wall, twirling a small crystal in his hand. His cloak billowed lazily in the breeze, even though there was no wind. "Good morning, rookies!" he called, flashing them a grin. "Ready for your first real test?"

Jin stretched his arms behind his head. "I'm hoping for something more fun than picking heavy rocks."

"Don't tempt him," Daren muttered under his breath.

Rudra's grin widened, clearly hearing Daren's comment. "Oh, don't worry, I've got something special planned for today. Ever heard of the Paradox Maze?"

Kael blinked in confusion, while Tarek's eyes lit up. "A maze?" she asked eagerly. "I love mazes!"

Rudra pushed off the wall and walked toward them, his tone turning more serious. "This isn't your typical puzzle, Tarek. The Paradox Maze is a living, shifting labyrinth that exists in two planes at once—physical and mental. It feeds on your perception, warping reality around you. To complete it, you'll need more than just brute strength or speed. It requires balance between mind, body, and your chakra."

Kael's heart skipped a beat. "So, it's a test of our Naadi?"

"Exactly," Rudra confirmed. "The maze adapts to each individual's strengths and weaknesses. You'll be tested in ways you've never imagined, forced to use your first Naadi in ways you haven't even begun to explore."

Jin raised an eyebrow. "And what happens if we fail?"

Rudra chuckled, but his eyes flashed with a warning. "Let's just say you'll get lost in your own mind. You won't die, but you'll come out of it… changed. Some people never come out the same."

Tarek's enthusiasm dimmed slightly. "So, no pressure."

Without another word, Rudra gestured for them to follow. He led them to the far side of the temple grounds, where a massive stone doorway, framed by intricate carvings of ancient symbols, stood. The doorway appeared ordinary, but as they approached, the air around it began to shimmer, revealing a swirling portal of shifting colors.

"This is the entrance to the Paradox Maze," Rudra explained. "Once you step inside, the maze will read your chakra, tuning itself to your Naadi's energy. You'll face challenges that require you to manipulate your physical abilities, but also think beyond what you're capable of now. The goal is simple: reach the center."

"How long does it take?" Daren asked, eyeing the portal with unease.

"For some, it takes hours. For others, days." Rudra shrugged. "The more in tune you are with your Naadi, the quicker you'll complete it. But don't rush—it's not just about finishing. It's about what you learn along the way."

Kael exchanged a glance with Jin, who nodded in silent agreement. "Alright," Kael said, taking a deep breath. "Let's do this."

Without further hesitation, the four of them stepped into the portal, and the world around them warped.

The first thing Kael noticed was the sudden drop in temperature. The air was cold and thick, making it hard to breathe. He stood in the middle of a dense fog, the ground beneath him soft and unsteady. Around him, strange structures loomed—trees made of twisting stone, floating rocks, and pathways that seemed to lead nowhere.

He looked around, but Jin, Tarek, and Daren were nowhere to be seen. Of course, the maze had separated them.

A low hum resonated through the air, sending vibrations up Kael's legs. He instinctively activated his first Naadi, feeling the familiar surge of energy that enhanced his body's physical capabilities. His senses sharpened, his muscles felt lighter, and his reaction speed increased.

"Let's see what this maze can throw at me," he muttered to himself, setting off down a narrow path that wound through the fog.

Meanwhile, Jin found himself in an entirely different environment—a cavern filled with jagged crystals that glowed faintly. The ground pulsed beneath his feet, each step sending ripples of energy through the floor. He reached out with his chakra, trying to feel for any hidden traps, but the maze's energy was erratic, shifting constantly.

"I hate mazes," he grumbled, picking a direction at random.

The path led him deeper into the cavern until he encountered a large crystal wall blocking his way. As he approached, the crystal began to glow brighter, emitting a high-pitched hum that vibrated through his skull. He felt an overwhelming pressure, as if the wall was pushing against his mind, forcing him to focus.

"Alright, fine," Jin muttered, closing his eyes and channeling his chakra into his Naadi. The pressure intensified, but he steadied himself, letting the energy flow through him like a river. The crystal wall began to shift, its surface rippling like water. He reached out and placed his hand on it, focusing his thoughts.

Suddenly, the wall disappeared, revealing a new pathway. Jin smirked. "Easy enough."

Tarek, on the other hand, found herself in a desert of white sand, the sun blazing overhead. There was no wind, no sound—just the oppressive heat. Her Naadi pulsed beneath her skin, amplifying her endurance, but the heat sapped her strength faster than she expected.

"Gotta keep moving," she told herself, scanning the horizon for any sign of a way forward. The desert stretched endlessly in every direction, but as she walked, she noticed that the sun wasn't moving. No matter how far she traveled, the position of the sun remained the same.

Frustrated, she stopped and knelt in the sand, trying to focus her chakra. "This is a test of perception," she whispered, remembering Rudra's words. "I'm not moving because I'm stuck in my own head."

Closing her eyes, she centered herself, allowing her Naadi's energy to flow through her body. She focused on the sensations—the heat, the sand, the distant hum of her heartbeat. Gradually, the world around her began to shift. The sand beneath her turned into soft grass, and the air cooled.

When she opened her eyes, she was standing in a lush forest, the maze's illusion shattered.

Daren's trial was different. He stood in a large chamber with towering pillars, each one etched with ancient symbols. The room was bathed in an eerie green light, and in the center stood a pedestal with a glowing orb.

The moment Daren stepped toward it, a booming voice filled the chamber. "Prove your worth."

The pillars began to crack, sending chunks of stone crashing to the ground. Daren's Naadi activated instinctively, heightening his speed and reflexes. He dodged the falling debris, his mind racing. "What am I supposed to do?"

The orb glowed brighter, pulsing with energy. Daren focused his chakra on it, feeling its pull. "Prove your worth," the voice repeated, echoing in his mind.

Daren closed his eyes, blocking out the chaos around him. He channeled his Naadi's energy into the orb, feeling it resonate with his chakra. As the connection deepened, the room stabilized, and the orb floated into his hand.

Hours later, the four of them emerged from the maze, each one exhausted but exhilarated.

Rudra stood waiting for them, a knowing smile on his face. "Not bad for rookies," he said, clapping his hands. "You've taken your first steps toward mastering your Naadi. But this is just the beginning."

Kael wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling a surge of confidence. He could sense that his first Naadi had grown stronger, more attuned to his body and mind.

"What's next?" Jin asked, his usual cocky grin returning.

Rudra's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Next? I just got a message from my friend. It seems we won't be able to train for 1 month , 1 week is all we have and after that we're heading off-world."

Kael felt his heart skip a beat. The challenges of the Paradox Maze had been tough, but the prospect of leaving the planet, of facing even greater trials in distant worlds, sent a thrill of excitement through him.

Suddenly, a voice called out, "Rudra!" A tall figure emerged from the shadows, his silhouette commanding attention. As he stepped into the light, it became clear that he carried an air of confidence, though his piercing gaze seemed to assess everyone around him. But it was his nose, strikingly prominent, that captured the attention of those nearby, almost as if it had a personality of its own. It was Kiran, a teacher from another group of students who had unlocked their Naadi's. His tousled hair framed his angular face, and the corners of his mouth curled into a slight smirk, hinting at both mischief and wisdom.

"Looks like you've been keeping busy," Kiran teased, a smirk playing on his lips. "Hiding from your own failures, I see?"

Rudra rolled his eyes, unfazed by the friendly jab. "You know me, Kiran. I'm just trying to teach these rookies a thing or two. Besides, I've got to prepare them for what's ahead. We're heading to a different planet soon."

Kiran raised an eyebrow. "A different planet? That's ambitious. How do you plan on making these kids master their Naadi fast?"

Rudra shrugged, a grin spreading across his face. "I was thinking of making them compete against your student. Nothing like a little rivalry to spark growth!"

Kael and his friends exchanged intrigued glances. The idea of competition excited him.

"Prepare yourselves," Rudra continued. "Next week, you'll face off in a series of challenges. The winner will get a special reward—they will be given a chance to touch DIVYA NAAK."

Kiran looked at Rudra with a laugh in his eyes before turning his gaze to the kids, smirking with a hint of pity

"what is DIVYA NAAK?" Tarek repeated, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"No, no," Kiran chimed in, leaning against the wall with a playful grin. "It's not something that could be told straight away—ha! You have to win the competition to earn it!"

Kael and Daren felt a rush of determination. The idea of competing for something that could enhance their powers was too enticing to ignore. They would do whatever it took to master their Naadi and prove himself.

Jin looked at both of them with suspicion.

Tarek as always excited for the next adventure.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the training grounds, Kael couldn't shake the feeling that their lives were about to change forever. With the upcoming challenges and the mysteries awaiting them, he was ready to face whatever lay ahead.

As they made their way back to their rooms, Kael brought up the rear. Passing through the center of the academy, he noticed the large hall that housed a grand sign emblazoned with the words THE FORGE. It loomed over them, its letters bold and imposing, but nothing seemed to happen as the others passed by without a second glance.

However, as Kael stepped past the sign on his way to his room, it suddenly glowed with a radiant light before dimming just as quickly. Kael paused, glancing back at the sign did something happen?

With a furrowed brow, he continued on to enter his room
