Chereads / Coffin Hunter / Chapter 4 - Awakening

Chapter 4 - Awakening

" Awakening" , individuals receive their "profession" , through which the direction of their life is determined.

This is because depending on the ' profession ' and ' grade ' of skill given to them , they can become winners or losers. Their utility also varies depending on the

' profession ' and ' skill ' they acquire. While most get professions related to ' combat ' , there are some , like Johan , who get skills that are useless in combat. In that sense , it would be fair to say that Johan has the worst skills. Can someone with ' F-grade emotional skills ' be called an Awakened Person ? It would be much better if they got ' S-grade ' emotional skills. An ' S-grade emotionalist ' can read the emotions of all objects , even humans.

I heard news about an S-grade emotionalist in America who bought an entire building in New York just by reading its emotions. "That's more impressive than ten combat skills combined."

Of course , this is far more than Johan could aspire to. An F-grade emotion skill can only read the emotions of insignificant objects.

" But ' awakening '? I've never heard of such a term before."

In many cases , the skills given to individuals can progress from one level to another. However , the phenomenon of a complete change in one's profession , called "awakening" , has never been experienced before.

" Who on earth is the god of the dead ? I've never heard of it..."

[ The profession ' emotionalist ' has awakened to become ' necromancer ' .]

" Necromancer… ?"

The name of the profession itself is already suspicious.

an exile , archer , thief, or wizard , but a necromancer.

Not a ' tailor ', ' magician ' , or ' purifier ' , but a ' necromancer ' .

" What kind of profession is this, after all ?"

It is a profession that no one has ever achieved. It is also not a profession that many people would want to adopt.

' Are there any other professions related to death besides necromancer ?' None.

Except for the godlike profession of Thief , the Reaper , there's nothing that's even remotely similar.

No matter how much I think about it , it's a word that is far removed from emotions.

" Why did this special quality awaken ? Is it because of the work I am doing ?"

Thinking like this somewhat fits the puzzle. After all , he must have dealt with at least a thousand corpses by now.

" But why am I not so happy about this ?"

Despite having the opportunity to completely turn his life around , he couldn't shake the uncomfortable feeling the word "necromancer" caused. It felt like winning fifth prize in a lottery.

Sound

" I think a profession given directly by God cannot be bad. Please , it shouldn't be like this."

He patted his cheeks , as if to clear his thoughts. He heard that the God of the Dead liked his personality.

A "conscious profession" doesn't have to be cheap.

[ He who sends the dead to the gods and casts sinners into eternal torment will be more holy than anyone else. ]

This was a very surprising interpretation. Although status windows are usually like this , this one seemed more flowery than the others.

" In the end , what matters most is skill."

With great expectations , he tested his skills. No matter how the profession Awakened , what's most important is skill.

- Skill List –

[ Emotion ( ↑ )] , [ Fairness ] , [ Memory Imprint ] , [ Death Slayer ]

Three new skills were added. All of them had names that did not reveal their abilities.

" Is it still appropriate to call oneself a necromancer ?" The skill names did not seem to be related to being a necromancer , except for the "Impartiality" skill.

Among those strange skills , Johan found a strange mark on his emotion skill.

[ Emotion ]

Grade B (Advance)

- Can sense the emotions of objects and corpses of all grades. Can grow to S-grade.

" This is not 5th place , this is 1st place!"

Involuntarily , I shouted. Tears welled up in my eyes.

" The skill has improved. It is already at B-grade!"

The emotion skill which had always been at an F- grade had increased.

While one might question why he was making such a fuss about only "emotion" skill improvement , it was more than just a sense for Johan.

It was a glimpse of light into a future that was completely unclear.

It was a day when the tangled knot of his life , which was a complete disaster , unraveled just a little. A day he thought would never come.

" It's important to be able to understand emotions , no matter what they are."

Now , he could make a living with this skill alone. With constant practice , he could even achieve his dream 'S-grade'.

" People with S-grade skills are like moving enterprises."

No matter how raw the skill is , it guarantees excellent performance. It is more difficult to be unused than to be S-grade. There are already examples of this.

" What difference does it make if it isn't combat skills ? Just yesterday , I was worried about paying the rent."

" If the situation remains like this , I will not be able to go home."

He wanted to test his skills right away. Fortunately , he already had the things he needed for the test.

" Usually , you try out your skills soon after you acquire them."

With determination , he carefully opened the cloth covering the body. He greeted the peacefully sleeping corpse and knelt down.

" I'm sorry to intrude. Bhavna."

Flash-

A faint light appeared in her hand and disappeared. The effect was slightly different from before , causing her heart to beat for no apparent reason.

[ Memory Imprint ]

Grade: F

Occupation: Memory Seeker

Years of Experience: 10

- 6th Year Hunter. Lost his purpose in life after his wife's death 10 years ago. After wasting all his savings and insurance money in brawls with drunkards , he began to live a day-to-day life in search of Donjin. He ended up alone in the dungeon after drinking too much the previous night.

" That's way too much description for this skill."

The description felt like 're-describing' someone's entire life , which made him feel sad.

Johann mourned his last moments not with a formal farewell , but with a solemn farewell.

" You can use memory imprints."

At that moment , an alert sounded. It was a warning that he could use the Memory Imprint skill.

" Are they telling me to use a memory imprint on this guy right away ?"

In response to the question , a faint light radiated from the corpse. Although he had only planned to use the Emotion skill , it seemed he could check several other skills as well.

" Memory Imprint."

[ To use the Necromancer's abilities , a trigger word is required: "Open Ceremony."]

" Even a trigger word ?"

The occupation was even more bizarre than he had imagined. Executing a memory imprint instantly , was it because he had to separate the soul first ? Out of curiosity, he decided to check all the skills while doing so.

" Opening Ceremony."

The atmosphere began to change. The air became heavier , to the point where it felt like his shoulders were being pressed down.

Clunk- something fell from the abyss , echoing all around.

A huge wooden crown , easily over 2 metres tall , made of pine , had actually fallen.

" What is this ?"

Its imposing presence made Johan involuntarily take a step back.

Soon , the air darkened and disappeared. Carefully approaching the body , Johan gently picked up the huge crown.

sound Was solid , and it felt like there was considerable strength in the fingers.

" Did he really give me the crown ?"

It was empty inside. Given the size , it could have fit any corpse without any problems.

" It can be used as a weapon!"

Although it may be huge , it was undoubtedly a suitable item for a necromancer.

With such a large crown in his hand , he could probably deal with most Monstars simply by swinging it.

" It's bizarre just to imagine it , isn't it ? A necromancer with a tabut instead of a weapon , a walking tracer!"

A necromancer walking around with a crown larger than his body , just the thought of it was weird and overwhelming.

Going hunting with a fishing rod is even more disrespectful than the presence of a hunter.
