Melissa
"Melissa!,Melissa, sweetie!" Mom called from the living room. "Coming Mom!" I replied loudly and ran down the stairs." How many times have I told you to stop running on the stairs. You have to be careful." Mom said. " Oh mother, I'm not a baby. Stop worrying so much." I said to her and she sighed. "There's a package for you." she said and handed me a box with an tag on it and it read. GPHS package to Melissa Moore. I opened the box and brought out the first thing I saw. It was an iPad.
As soon as I held it, it automatically turned on displaying a video. It was a lady I didn't know. Okayy? She suddenly spoke. "Good day Miss Moore. I'm Dalia Kingsley, the Principal of Golden Prestigious High school and I'm most definitely happy to inform you that you, Melissa Moore, are one of the few lucky kids that have been chosen to attend our school. As you must have seen in the package, everything you'll be needing to resume school on Monday has been sent to you. We're very much expecting you. Thank you for your time and have a very wonderful day." She concluded and the iPad turned back off.
All the time the video played, I stood dumbstruck. My eyes almost popped out of it's sockets from shock, I couldn't believe it was really happening. But it was, it's not a dream right? I'm clearly holding an actual iPad in my hands and in the video that just played, the strange lady said I've been admitted into the Almighty Golden Prestigious high school. It's real!
"Oh my God sweetheart. I'm so proud of you. You did it, you're going to high school." Mom exclaimed in joy and engulfed me in a tight hug. "I did it." I muttered still unable to grasp the situation. " Yes sweetheart. I always knew you could do it, my brilliant girl." Mom replied and that's when I realized. I actually got the admission and I'm officially a student of GPHS. My face suddenly lightened up in excitement. " I did it Mom. I did it!" I shouted and jumped hugging my Mom once again.
This is unbelievable but it's right in front of me. I handed the iPad over to Mom and brought out what was inside the big box. There were two pairs of uniforms each, two pairs of grey socks and black shoes, a purple bag, that's my favorite color, a laptop and a few notes. Is this for real?, I kept asking myself.
"I'm so proud of you honey" Mom said again with teary eyes. I also felt like crying but I didn't, I'm not a crybaby. "Thanks Mom. The lady also said to resume on Monday, that's just two days away. I'm so excited." " Woah, what's going on with my two favorite people in the whole world." We were interrupted by the voice of my older brother, Melvin who just came in.
"Guess who just got admission into Golden Prestigious High School?." I said excitedly. "No way...Wow cupcake, way to go, I knew you could do it." Melvin said and gave me a hug. "Thanks bro. Your sister is pretty smart, just like her big brother." I replied him feeling on top of the world and he smiled. "You got that right, she is...So, when are you starting?" He asked. "On Monday, I can't wait." I squealed and hurriedly my new stuffs into the box ran up to my room. I have so much to prepare. "hurry up and come down for dinner!" Mom said loudly. "Okay Mom".
I ran upstairs with the box and dropped it on my bed. I stared at the box one more time and smiled. " I'm gonna make you proud dad. Just like this, I won't let you down. I'll fulfill all the dreams we shared together and I'll make you proud. " With this thought, I had decided.
I would do all it takes to finish well. I won't do anything to jeopardize this opportunity. I'm gonna work hard so I can also get a scholarship to attend a good college and then further education. I'm going to put a smile on Mom's face and wipe away all her worries, that's the most important thing and then I'll find Dad's killers and make them pay for the pain they've caused my family.
I'm Melissa Moore and I'm sixteen years old. I live with my Mom and my elder brother, my Dad died when I was little and it's not really something I like to talk about. There's really nothing special about me.
I'm just a normal teenage girl who loves music and can dance like mad, I have no friends, is that normal? I don't know but I'm still doing great. I like my own space most of the time, sometimes, I feel like I've actually created an invisible wall between me and the world and nobody has ever tried to breach it, well my Mom and Brother literally have back stage passes, if you know what I mean. I'm great at baking since technically, my Mom owns a bakery where she earns our daily keep. My brother works as well to support Mom but I'm not allowed to work no matter how many times I've suggested to.
I wrote a scholarship exam to reduce my mom's burden, she's already paying my brother's college tuition, I don't want her stressing to pay mine because my Mom that I know would do anything to make sure that I go to school. No matter how many times I insist on dropping out and getting a part time job, not because I want to because I feel guilty for making them work their asses out for me. she wouldn't have any of it.
I love my family alot. They're my life and I'll do anything for them. There's not much about me... Well, I can be pretty unpredictable sometimes. I can be calm, I can be crazy, it depends on what button you push, I can be nice, I can be rude but I warn you, be careful though cause my craziness knows no bounds and my rudeness is a venom. Getting into GPHS is a dream come true. Although I've heard it's a school full of celebrities and all, but does it matter? I believe I'll be a star one day and I don't get intimidated, never. I might have to deal with people trying to breach my wall but I can handle it.
The most important thing is seeing my mom and brother happy because of something i've done. My mom must be feeling relieved for the fact that i'm getting the education my dad always wanted for me even if it's on scholarship. I'll make sure it's all worth it. I just can't wait for on monday.
I feel so giddy that I can't help but dance - trust me, Awesome feeling. I'm now a student of Golden Prestigious High School. Wow! You know, for the records, I actually deserve this. "Melissa! " I heard mom call and remembered it was time for dinner. "Coming Mom. " I answered loudly and flew downstairs - haha, not literally.
Dinner was lit. My diary was filled and for once I slept like a baby. - actually the last part was a total lie. I've never slept well since I was six, even a corpse sleeps better but that's something I've gotten used to so it doesn't really bother me much, I only pity my Mom and Brother. Those two have made sure their world revolves around me.
You probably won't get it but looking back at all I've said. I just realized I made a mistake while introducing myself so I'll have redo the introduction.
Hello, I'm Melissa Moore and trust me, I am no normal teenage girl. I'm a weird introvert who's stuck up in past events and makes all those who care about her suffer. And I want revenge for my Dad. Yes, that's who I really am...
