I heard the same voice again:
«As soon as I have finished with them, it will be your turn.»
I was too confused at the time to understand what was happening. But I never let Aleria go.
«Lunim, stand beside me, I can't see anymore.» I tried to stay calm, but that sentence unleashed even more chaos than there was.
«What do you mean? Do you think it's Meta?» Asked Lunim, agitated.
«Definitely. I do not think this effect is definitive, he would have used it time before. Let's make sure the League can fight it and push it back.» I answered.
I wasn't sure what I said. But I should have settled the matter anyway. From that moment on, I didn't understand much. I heard Lunim go away, so, although she was scared, I asked Aleria to explain what was going on. She told me that Lunim had gone after Meta to help the members of the League, who had already lost two men. One of the two bodies was burned, reduced to ashes, the other lay on the ground, without legs and arms. Meta generated inflamed chains with which he began to fight. They were attached to the wrist and, shaking his arm, he used them as if they were a nunchaku. Lunim, taking his sword, blocked one of the two chains and managed to pull it out of its grip. However, it disappeared, and rematerialized into the hands of the sorcerer, who tied Lunim's body with it, blocking his arms and throwing him to the ground. At that moment he raised his arm, ready to charge a flame to give him the fatale shot. A member of the League intercepted the shot, sacrificing himself for him, letting his body be reduced to ashes. Behind the sorcerer came a blade, sunk by another man, which pierced his back, Meta touched the blade, it caught fire, burning not only the weapon, but also the member of the League. The wound, which would have been fatal to a mere human, seemed to have had no effect on Meta. Meanwhile, Lunim managed to free himself and tried to stab the sorcerer's body. Before the blade could catch fire, he dropped it and began to strike at the enemy. With a well-set hook, Meta seemed to fall, but just when we least expected it, a chain sharp as a katana lashed towards Lunim's neck.
If he had let it swing, he would have been beheaded.
If he had blocked it, he would have been inflamed. By now, the road was dark and without way out, but...
One of the three remaining members of the league locked the chain with both hands, losing a few fingers. Lunim had time to move away, but the defender was reduced to ashes. Realizing there was nothing to be done, my strategist fled toward us. Aleria said that Meta turned his gaze. She described it to me as the one of a demon, of someone who had denied his own humanity. Lunim looked like a scared rabbit, a poor helpless. Ignoring the others of the League, the sorcerer threw a chain on my companion's leg, leaving him with a deep wound that prevented him from running and made him fall. At that moment I regained my sight. I had never seen such a hell. That man was ruining my life more than the king of Avaloria. I took Lunim's hand, helping him to stand up. Meta came close to me, as soon as he touched me I felt my chest explode in a very strong heat, but quickly I made a step back, I headbutted him and then I gave him a blow with all the force that I had in my body, I made him go back a few meters, but I found a sharp chain stuck on my right shoulder. The other two members of the League, at that moment, took both an arm of the sorcerer, trying to block him. They were inflamed, but did not let go him. Lunim, with the few remaining forces, shot a dart straight through his stomach. We managed to gain enough time to escape, but the losses were very heavy. Not only for the seven men of the League. I got a deep wound on the shoulder, and Lunim on the leg. Only we two managed to stay alive with serious injuries, and only Aleria was able to remain unharmed. We hid behind a house quite far from the battle. We were all too upset to talk. The adrenaline of the battle ended, Lunim and I began to feel pain from both wounds, I had never felt such a pain before. My sight began to blur again, the last thing I remember was the worried face of Aleria shouting "king of Triosa", then nothing else.
