'Beep'
'Beep'
'Beep'
'Ahh'
I pulled the blanket and covered myself with it. 'That damn alarm clock again'. Without opening my eyes, I reached out of the blanket, desperately trying to get my hand on the alarm clock but it seemed further that expected. So I leaned in a little bit closer and...
'Thud!'
'Ouch!'
I rubbed my head after falling of the bed, 'That really hurt'. I then sleepily got up and grabbed the alarm clock but, I didn't turn it off, instead, I walked towards the window, opened the curtains and window then tossed out the alarm clock. "I hate that thing". 'For some weird reasons that damn alarm clock keeps ending up in my room even after tossing it out 10 times already. Nope, I'm too sleepy to even think about it'.
I walked towards the bed, climbed in and then pulled the sheets, shutting my eyes in an instant 'Ahh, yes. This addictive warmth, I could sleep foreve—".
'Knock'
'Knock'
'knock'
"Zyran, Get up. It's time for school". A sweet and mature voice resounded from the other side of the door.
"But Mom—".
"Breakfast is ready downstairs, so freshen up and then get your butt down here, Byee sweetie". And with that, Zyran's mother left.
'My mom, a perfect combination of kind but at the same time commanding. How does my Oldman even handle that woman? you could almost swear that she's the one wearing the pants in this house. Enough about that...' I slowly moved my leg out of the sheets and felt the cold brushing against my skin "My sweet warmth" I then reluctantly pulled the sheets away and got off the bed.
With my black pajamas on, I walked towards the bathroom.
[ 45 minutes later ]
As I was walking down the stairs, I was wearing my uniform that consisted of a white shirt, grey pants and a green blazer. 'As a 15 year old, there's nothing a hate more than the thought of school. Let alone going to the place. It's not like I have a choice in the matter'.
'I can already smell the delicious aroma of breakfast'. As I entered the kitchen, I saw a woman that wore a blue apron placing dishes on the table, her hair was long and black. Sitting on the table was a man with short black hair that was combed back. He was wearing a white shirt accompanied by a black tie and black pants. He was reading the news on his tablet. Next to him, was a little girl, who looked to be 10 or 11 years old. She had long black hair and she was wearing a white dress.
I found myself stopping by the dining room entrance, no longer able to continue forward. 'These people are my family. So why is it that I...' I placed my hand on my chest as I felt my heart tightening. 'Why is it that I can't see their faces? What's going on?'. I stood there, shocked and appalled. 'Their faces are blurred, I can't even see their eyes. What's happening to me? I'm I still asleep?'. I pinched myself.
"Ouch!"
"What are you doing? Come here and take a seat".
The woman or the person I'm assuming to be my mother invited me over to take a sit but I... 'I can't even see her mouth move'. "Mom?"
"Yes?" Zyran's mother stopped what she was doing and turned to him with her blurred face.
I ignored the fear that gripped my heart. "Mom, where are your faces?".
'Silence'
My words were followed by a deafening silence that lasted a few seconds and then...
"Hahaha! Oh my, Tisha darling. I never thought our son could be this funny"
"Hahaha!, I never thought so too. Who knew he had it in him"
"Hehehe! Big bro, your weird".
I touched the back of my neck as I felt my neck hairs stand on end. Afraid, confused, lost... I'm feeling all sorts of emotions right now. I tried taking deep breaths but that only made things worse as I began to be unable to breathe properly.
"Hey honey, you okay?". My mother came up to me and touched my forehead. I tried to pull my head away because I didn't believe that this was my actual mother, but that voice. I could never mistake my mother's voice.
"It seems you have a cold, here". She took my hand and then gently pulled me towards the table and sat me down. "Eat, and then after that I'll go look for some meds for you, okay".
'Kind'
'She's kind, just like my mother. Maybe she is my mother. Maybe I do have a cold and it's probably making me see things, as weird as that sounds.
"Will you be okay, big bro?".
I turned towards my little sister Alora, Even though I can't see her face, I can hear the concern in her voice. I forced a smile on my face. "Of course I'll be okay, it's your big brother were talking about here".
"Hmm, your right. My big bro's the strongest ". Her eyes were probably shining right now.
"You got that right"
"Okay you two, eat your breakfast and then—".
'Ding!'
'Ding!'
'Ding!'
'Ding!'
Just then, the sound of bell reverberated all around us.
My mother, father and sister, all turned to me at the same time and then stood up and began walking towards me, before I could ask them what's going on, they hugged me in a tight embrace. 'What's happening?' I thought to myself.
"Zyran, I know that me and your father haven't been there for you and your little sister. I'm sorry we had to leave the both of you so early".
"Mom, what are you talking about? Your here aren't you? when did you leave me and Alora?". I began to feel my cheeks becoming moist. 'Why I'm I even crying? I'm so confused'.
"Your mother is right Zyran, We never intended to abandon the two of you at such a young age. Please, forgive us".
"Dad, what are you guys talking about". My voice cracked mid way. 'Why? Why does my heart hurt so bad?'.
"Big bro, it's okay now. You don't have to burden yourself with me anymore. Your free now".
"Alora" I turned to my little sister and even though I couldn't see her face, I could tell she was crying "I've never seen you as a burden".
Unfortunately my words were ignored, they stepped away from me and began to walk away, slowly growing distant. I tried running towards them with all my strength, but they kept getting further and further away.
"Wait! Don't go! Please don't leave me behind!".
"""Good bye, we love you"""
"MOM!"
"DAD!"
"ALORA!"
"Don't go!"
[Wake up you fool!]
"Ahhhhh!!!".
Zyran woke up screaming with his arm reaching forward. He looked around and immediately recognised the room. His whole body was soaked in sweat, as he kept taking heavy breaths.
"Argh!".
He grabbed his aching head with a pained expression. "What just happened?".
[It was just a dream]
"A dream?" Zyran found that hard to believe, "It felt so real though".
[That's how dreams are supposed to be. They trick you into believing the unrealistic. Making something that would have normally seemed impossible, possible whilst also making you believe that it's normal]
Zyran had a hard time understanding Telos's words, so he ignored him. He got off the bed and stretched himself before sitting back on the mattress. "I saw my parents and sister in that dream but, for some reason their faces were blurred". His expression was dark and gloomy.
[That is strange indeed. Did anything else note worthy happen]
"They..." Zyran's mind flashed back to his family's last words. "They just said goodbye".
[Goodbye? Anything else?]
Zyran looked at his arms and saw the Psychi essence still leaking out. "No, There's nothing else".
[I see]
"Telos".
[Yes]
Zyran looked at the wall clock, 'Its 1 am'. "I won't be able to sleep anymore, that's for sure. So, how about we use this chance to train me. I need to learn how to control my powers quickly".
[You finally said something that makes sense]
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that. So... Uhm.. what now?"
[Your leaking essence, let's work on that first]
"Okay, how?"
[Get comfortable]
Zyran climbed the bed and crossed his legs.
[Imagine your body as a glass cup and your Psychi essence as water while your soul acts as the source of the water. The reason why your leaking Psychi essence is because your soul is constantly pouring water into the glass cup, causing some of the water to spill out, thus the leaking. Does that make sense?]
"I think that makes sense. So how do I stop it?".
[By controlling it. You are going to deepen your connection with your soul and then try to limit the amount of essence that is being poured into your body]
"How—".
[I don't know]
"I didn't even finish my question". Zyran had an unamused expression on his face when he said this.
[Your were going to ask me how, right? Well, I don't know. Deepening a connection with a soul varies from individual to individual. But it should come off as instinctive. So you'll know what to do when you try it. Be warned that it is not a short process, it might take hours and if your unlucky, days]
"I don't have that kind of time". ' I need to grow strong, quickly. But I also can't be too hasty or I might end up causing my own demise".
[Then you better get started]
