Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - The Gate

Country: [Democratic Republic of Glavia ]

Location: [Moon City, Residential District, Grevol Residence]

Time: [19:53]

••••••••••••••••••

Within Moon city's residential district was a building, one with two bedrooms, a single bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. In this very building was a man that was pacing back and fourth near the stairs, he stood at a height of 179 cm. The man had an athletic build, due to working multiple jobs and lifting heavy objects around all day. He had messy black hair and blue eyes with a tint of purple. He was wearing a brown suit, that had stitches here and there, but he didn't mind wearing it. From time to time, the man would look at his old wrist watch, checking the time.

The man was Zyran Gravel and the house he was in was the one he inherited from his deceased parents, while the suit he was wearing belonged to his father. It has been five years since their parents died. Life hasn't been easy on the Gravel siblings, especially Zyran. He had to quit school and start working odd jobs. He had worked as a babysitter, assisted in construction sites, washed dishes in restaurants, did some pizza delivery and even worked in the zoo to clean the animal cages. He did all those jobs because he didn't want his sister to starve, all so that she could finish school and build a better life. One where they wouldn't have to worry about what to eat at night or wearing old clothes.

"Alora!, What's taking you so long?". Asked Zyran, he has been waiting for his sister for the past ten minutes.

"Ten more minutes!". Responded a sweet voice from upstairs.

'She said that ten minutes ago, sigh'. Thought Zyran with a tired sigh. Realising that he'd be waiting another ten minutes, he decided to sit on the bottom steps of the stairs and wait for his sister to finish. You see, tonight Zyran was taking his sister out to eat outside after he got a bonus on his latest job. He always made sure to spoil his sister from time to time, so that she doesn't feel left out when her friends brag about eating at famous restaurants.

Just then, Zyran could hear the clicking of shoes upstairs, making his ears perk up. He got up and looked upstairs in anticipation, he wanted to see what his sister's been doing for her to take this long. And he wasn't disappointed.

Walking down the stairs, was a beautiful young woman, who stood at a height of 169 cm. She had long dark hair that flowed down all the way to her buttocks and clear ocean blue eyes. Her skin was white and fair, almost resembling jade. She wore a blue dress that went all the way down to her knees, showcasing her gorgeous long legs. The blue dress worked well to emphasize her beautiful blue eyes. She finished the look with a pair of white heels, that had blue stones embedded on them. She was in all honesty, beautiful.

"So... What do you think?". She asked, as she held the helm of her dress and twisted around. Flashing him a nervous smile.

"You look...", Zyran bit his tongue after almost saying something that shouldn't be said between siblings. 'She's your sister damnit!'. He mentally scolded himself.

"What?". She asked, her clear blue eyes focused on him. Waiting in anticipation for what he was going to say.

"Uhm", he slightly pulled the collar of his suit. "You look beautiful, Alora". He said in earnest, but finished the rest inside. As for what he said, only he knew.

It seemed that answer highly satisfied Alora, as she jumped and hugged her brother. "Thank you, big bro". She said with a toothy smile. "I also love the dress you bought me".

She was grateful for having a brother like Zyran. He gave up school for the both of them and went out to work hard so that they had something to eat and for her to continue going to school. When their parents died, she was devastated, she was young back then, but smart enough to realise that she and her brother were going to live a hard life moving forward. Her brother took the heavy burden of raising her while giving up on his future. Watching him work hard and coming home tired made her heart ache.

So, to not put his efforts to waste. She made sure to study hard and help out around the house. It's the least she could do after all he has done for her. Alora buried her face on her brother's chest and tightened her hug.

Zyran could feel that something wasn't right after his sister stayed quiet for a while. He ignored the sensation of having her C cup pressed against him and gently pushed her away, only to see her teary eyes. His heart stung when he saw this.

"Alora". He gently held her face. "What's wrong?, did I do something wrong?". He softly asked, using his thumbs to wipe her tears.

Realising that she was worrying her brother. She pulled away from him and smiled, "It's nothing, I was just happy for having the best brother in the world". She said while wiping her teary eyes. "Now, we should go, it's getting late". She said that, while grabbing his hand and walking towards the door.

Zyran was still worried about his sister but, since she said she was okay then there was nothing to worry about. ' I'll keep an eye on her'.

They walked out of the house and stopped near the road, where Zyran hailed a taxi for them. He opened the door for his sister to get in first and then followed behind.

"Take us to La Cuisine". Said Zyran, as he tried to get comfortable in the cab. As for Alora, she chose to rest her head on his shoulder. She was that clingy.

"Alright sir". Said the cab driver as he started to drive. He was an Oldman, with white hair and brown eyes. But he still looked lively. "Taking your beautiful girlfriend on a date, sir?". Asked the cab driver, trying to make some small talk. He could see the clingy Alora through the rear view mirror, 'To be young again'. He thought.

Hearing what the cab driver said made Alora's cheeks flush. But she still stubbornly kept her head resting on her brother's shoulder.

"Cough... She's not my girlfriend sir, She's my sister". Explained Zyran after making a light cough. He also had a slight blush.

"Oh, my apologies. I'm not used to seeing siblings who are that close". The cab driver apologised after hearing the blunder he made.

Seeing that the atmosphere was getting a bit awkward. The cab driver decided to turn on the radio. The rest of the drive was quiet, with only the radio playing some calming music.

Location: [ Moon City, CBD, La Cuisine restaurant]

Time: [ 20:57]

When the cab finally arrived at La Cuisine. Zyran paid the cab fair and then got off, not forgetting to help his sister out. They then walked towards the restaurant. After their reservation was confirmed, they were led to their table by one of the restaurant's waitresses. She was a woman in her twenties, standing at a height of 169 cm, with short brown hair and dark brown eyes. She handed them their menu.

"Please call for me once you've picked what you'd like to order". She said with a warm smile, her eyes lingering on Zyran a little longer than they should. Something Alora's keen eyes didn't miss. She was annoyed but, careful enough not to let her brother notice it.

Even though, he wore an old, worn out suit. Zyran was still a handsome 21 year old male. His blue eyes with a unique purple tint and prominent jaw line, made him very appealing to the opposite sex. He was just too dense to notice it or maybe he did and just didn't care. Either way, he's possessive sister didn't like it when he attracted other women's attention, as for why she didn't like it, her young heart didn't know.

"What would you like to order?". Asked Zyran to his sister, as he looked up from his menu. "Hey, Alora!". said Zyran, waving his hand Infront of Alora's face after noticing her dazed state.

"What?". Asked Alora.

"Why the frown and what were you thinking about so deeply?". He asked.

"I-its nothing". She stammered and hurriedly shook her head, while making an embarrassed smile. "Sorry, I guess it's been a while since I've been to a fancy establishment". She made up a lie. Yes, Alora lied to her brother. Well she wasn't technically lying, since it's been months since her brother took her out to a bite. Mind you, she wasn't complaining. She's quite grateful for all he's done for her.

"Bro, are you sure it's okay for us to be spending so lavishly?. I mean, shouldn't we be saving up all this money for future uses or when something bad happens, like, I don't know, an accident". Asked Alora, after taking a look at the menu and noting all the prices.
