Chapter 7 - The Strange Book

Vance walked in after his call and his eyes rested coldly on her, she was there on floor and as soon as their eyes met she forced herself to stand up ignoring the pain that tugged at her.

You should thank your stars, if I had learnt anything suspicious about you, your head would have been on a spike by now." He said firmly, still glaring at her.

Selena wanted to reply but her throat was dry, this was only the first day and she was feeling like it was the hundredth day. The feeling of not knowing how the rest of the days with him would be made her feel nostalgic but a smile curved on her face as a plan crept in her head.

I would prove to him that I still have my Berlusconi blood." She thought, getting her eyes to meet his.

Get into the bathroom and clean yourself up, I want to see you in the bed ready for me by the time I get back." He said and without another glance, he left the room.

Selena just stood there, watching him as he left, the sound that came soon afterwards informed her that he left with his car which might take a while.

She struggled with her wedding dress before taking it off. The dress was the exact one she had always told him about when she was younger. It had been her daydream to wear it on her wedding day.

Although she wasn't sure if it might have been a coincidence or he always had it in mind because it was the gown Steve had given to her.

She made her way to the bathroom and it was much darker making her unable to see anything. She later managed to get to the switch as much as she could remember and behold the light came on giving her a clearer view of everywhere not just the bathroom.

She strode in taking off her undies as her mind lingered on her past, her past especially with the The Rodriguez.

As the warm water from the shower touched her body, she let out a soft cry of pain because it triggered stings of pain from the bottle wound.

She started examining her body in front of the big large mirror. The wounds from the glass were mostly on her legs and thighs marring her porcelain-milky skin.

She stood in front of the mirror for a while looking at herself before striking a mean pose.

We can do this, no matter what I would make him pay." She said and turned on the shower to it's highest, enduring the pain from the wounds.

Minutes later, she was done with her bath and proceeded to the wardrobe but to her dissapointment there were only Vance's clothes and nothing that she could fit into there.

Her eyes scanned the wardrobe again and she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw a black shorts and she picked a shirt to match.

Time for business." She strode down the stairs and went to the kitchen, refusing to let her memories weigh her down. She was there because of them and she must come out victorious.

She grabbed some cutleries and went back to the bedroom to fetch the little ribbons that were on her wedding gown.

Immediately she got them, she tied them around the cutlery and hung them on the front door downstairs and tried opening the door, when the cutlery made sounds, she nodded her head in approval.

The pain from her legs and thighs were slowing her down but she didn't mind as long as she made an effort.

I should be the one that has his head on a spike, not the other way round" She yelled, letting out her frustration and anger on her way.

Her tears threatened to fall but she refused and forced them back in.

As soon as she got to the room, she grabbed the book, Vance has earlier taken from her and tried opening it but it refused.

She thought of what could be wrong and checked very well only to find out that the book had a lock which was in form of a passcode.

Dang it." She spat angrily, hitting the book on the table with force and to her surprise, a tiny key fell out.

She checked that whole sides of the book for where might have a key hole but there was none it was only the passcode.

What can it be?" She thought, she had been close to Vance since he was born but there was nothing that came to her head that could be the passcode.

I should try his birthday or my birthday." She thought and punched them in but it wasn't working since the book refused to open.

She couldn't remember her parents and brother's birthday so she was left with nothing other than to check the room to find more clues.

She went back to the wardrobe and started rummaging through it. Just by the other side of the wardrobe, opposite her, a black coat that she could recognize even in her sleep as her father's grabbed her interest and pulling it out of the way, she saw a picture pinned to the wardrobe.

The picture had the face of a man that she was sure she had never seen in her life. She scanned the front and back of the picture but there was nothing on it just a man with a scar on his face. Not just any type of scar but a deadly scar.

Why would he pin this here?" She thought out loud and after good through it one more time, she pinned it back.

Her eyes went back to the book, although it didn't look too big, she knew very well that it had the answers she needed.

What could possibly be it, if it's not his birthday??" She asked, running her hands through her hair.

Let me just put in anything that might work." She grabbed the book and started putting in different numbers but none of them opened it.

Eighteen, eight, sixteen."

Selena tried the numbers and to her utmost surprise the book opened, her joy knew no bounds.

She took the book immediately and sat on the bed and as she was about to open it, her mind flashed on how she got the number right.

Who must have said those?" She wondered and looked straight at the door."

Vance??
