Chapter 5 - Disposing old feelings

What did you just do?" His baritone voice echoed as he grabbed part of the paper from her. He was looking at her like he wanted to remove her heart from her chest.

"I have it all crammed up in my head. I won't be needing the paper." She said, hoping to calm him down and scold herself for not thinking twice.

How dare you tell me that?" He yelled again, slamming his hands just a few inches away from her cheek and the sound from them left no little to the imagination of what would have happened to her if his hands actually landed on her cheeks.

How dare you do what I didn't ask you to do?" He said, trying to control his breath and anger as his hands made their way to her neck again.

I have always loved you." She said, and he stopped halfway.

What did you just say?"

Just like it's written in the letter, Vance. I have always loved you and wanted you. I know it is inappropriate for a girl my age and you being my uncle, but I can't help with the way I think of you."

Stop." He said, but Selena wasn't ready to listen.

Putting an end to everything was what she wanted more than ever, knowing if it was still her childish feelings or that her whole hardcover and hatred was fake.

"You are all I have ever wanted, and would ever want." Tears trickled down her eyes as she said those words. She could vividly remember writing them that day with smiles all over her face and when her brother came in his clutches and tried to take a sneak peek, she chased him out of her room.

"Do I still mean them? Is he still all I ever want?" She questioned herself as she watched his blood drop, her heart aching at each drop.

Her eyes met his, holding what she never expected to see.

Pain.

Was he actually pained at what he did, did he regret ever ending their happiness that way?" She questioned herself, but as the memory of how he had told her that he would kill any branch of them still existing, came to her mind, she thought otherwise .

"Who sent you?" He said, his voice gaining some sort of strength with a hint of desperation in it.

No one sent me. I have always been in love with you, which is why I took the risk of marrying you." Selena said, hiding the emotions that came from the letter.

Vance raised his head and scanned her before lifting her up by her neck.

Selena struggled in the air for air till he finally threw her down, letting her crash on the broken vase.

Selena yelped in pain as her skin cut against the glasses on the floor before he roughly picked her up and forced her to look at him.

You know I like girls like you." He started, making sure that he had her full attention.

You are very smart, and I must commend you for that. You knew that there was a difference in my attitude when you were reading the letter, so you chose to use it against me." He said, pinning her to the wall by her shoulders.

Let me tell you the truth." Selena said with the very last of her resolve and when he left her shoulders he collapsed in his arms.

Vance stood there with her in his arms, unsure of what to do. He had never been caught in a confused state before, and it was just the two of them because he had all the maids and servants sacked the day he took over the mansion.

He looked at her face as he pulled her away a little bit. She was the lady that read what he had been scared of, like she was the one who wrote it. The letter he knew of its presence after he had sold Liliana, his niece, off that day, so he never went to it.

"Wake up." He said, moving her shoulders roughly, but there was no sign of her making a move. He also noticed how frail she was and decided to lift her up, but not after battling with her wedding dress.

He took her in his arms and went up the stairs battling with the rage in his head.

He came across a room and was about to take her in when the memories started flooding in. Liliana's room, how they always played together and how he would always scatter the room just to piss her off filled his head.

His tears were trying hard to find their way outside, but he held them in and carried her to his room.

He dropped her on the gigantic soft bed before leaving almost immediately and the moment he got to the garage he zoomed off.

Selena's eyes fluttered open, and a wide smile spread on her lips. She tried standing up and winced in pain, not knowing where it was from.

That bastard." She muttered, enduring the pain to climb off the bed. "Just where I wanted to be in his room, in his quarters." She muttered happily, scanning the room.

It was still the same way it looked the day she got a sneak peek of it when she was still his niece Liliana, but now things had changed, she was now more of his nightmare than his niece.

Her mind flashed back at the look he had on when the vase broke and when she tore up the letter.

He looked like he was suffering too. Why did he have that look?" She thought, pacing around the room and also looking for something that might be of some use to her, because the way the room looked was similar to what she had seen before, but now, it looked much more emptier.

With the cigarette and an open bottle of wine on what was supposed to be the reading table, told her that he had been in it all this while.

Good you are awake." She heard and turning, she met Vance's cold gaze.

He walked up to her and just right beside her, he closed a book she never knew was even there.

Shall we discuss the dog in your room?" He said and, with the look on his face, Selena could tell that he didn't mean the word "dog".

"How exactly did I not hear when he came back?" She questioned, avoiding his eyes.
