Chapter 7 - The Unknown DEATH (07)

A sharp crack echoed in the air as the small device embedded in Kabila's neck detonated.

His head exploded in a spray of blood, brain matter, and bone, painting the rooftop in a grotesque display of violence.

His lifeless body crumpled to the ground, twitching as the last remnants of electricity coursed through him.

The girl stood still for a moment, blood spattered across her face, and the roof.

The girls/ Farias eye wided with shock seeing the head explode.

"Oh no," Faria thought, her mind racing.

"Unexpected," Tamim muttered, standing beside her he had teleported right after Faria/the girl caught the guy , his expression one of suspicion. "It felt like everything was unfolding according to some hidden plan."

"What do you mean?" Faria asked, her voice tense.

"I mean," Tamim replied, his eyes narrowing, "this feels like something you planned."

"Wait, you think I planned this?" Faria shot back, incredulous. "Why would I?"

"I don't know," Tamim responded bluntly. "I barely know you. Why should I trust you? This whole situation screams 'set-up.' That's just what it looks like to me."

"Don't misjudge me," Faria said, her voice softening as she stepped toward him. "I'm not involved in any of this."

"I don't care," Tamim snapped, pulling out his phone. "I'm calling the police."

"Wait!" Faria's eyes widened in alarm. "Let me explain first. Please, hear me out before you decide."

Tamim hesitated for a moment, his thumb hovering over the screen. "Fine," he said coldly. "Tell me what's going on."

But before Faria could respond, they both heard footsteps approaching from the stairs.

"There's no time to explain," Faria whispered urgently. "People from the building are coming to the roof. We need to get out of here—quickly."

Without another word, Faria created portal under the body death body and the blood which are spread around including Tamim

In the blink of an eye, she and the body vanished, Tamim found himself back in the park's empty place.

"Where did she go?" Tamim muttered to himself, finding himself back in the park.

He glanced down at his phone and it was sound recording  "Dr. Shohan, huh?"

Tamim returned home, the day's events playing in his head like a twisted puzzle. He flicked on the TV, tuning into a news channel, something he hadn't done in months.

The familiar sound of the anchor's voice filled the room, but Tamim barely listened as sports updates scrolled across the screen.

" It's my first time, seeing a person die brutality in front of me brutally and to be honest I felt nothing seeing this. In movies or stories when someone faces this they get scared or something like that maybe.. But i didn't feel that at all, it felt like this things are normal to my brain" Tamim thought and looked at Tv then he touched his hair and felt its sticky.

" Oh..I forgot, I didn't take bath for two days. I think I should take a bath" Tamim thought.

.

"Dr. Shohan... if it's the same person I think it is," Tamim whispered under his breath as he scrubbed his hands in the bathroom sink. "I'll take him down with my own hands."

Freshly dressed, he stepped back into the room just as the news turned to a different story.

"It's been a month since Dr. Shohan, also known as Dr. X, openly threatened the country's security facty ," the news anchor said. "Despite his criminal activities over the last eight years, the police have yet to apprehend him. His intelligence and elusiveness make him one of the most dangerous fugitives in the world."

Tamim paused, listening more closely now.

The reporter continued, "Eighty-two years ago, the world first recognized the Soul Sorcerers, beings with remarkable soul control powers. Though society was initially reluctant to accept them, they've become a part of life. Now, superhumans—survivors of the recent panic attack that left millions dead—are emerging. These survivors claim they possess powers unlike anything we've seen before. The world government is taking urgent steps to manage these new superhumans, ensuring they don't fall to corruption."

Tamim turned off the TV, sinking into the sofa. "I have powers too," he muttered to himself. "But no one knows. And that's how I like it."

But his thoughts soon returned to the unknown girl " The girl, She knows, though. How? And if she knows, who else does? She could be a threat."

Tamim picked up his phone, scrolling through his contacts. "I could call the police… but what would I even tell them? A tall girl with short black hair approached me because of my superpower, and some guy got killed trying to shoot me? At the end I will be exposed somehow."

---

The next day at Dhaka Business University, Tamim sat in class, masked as usual, listening to a dull lecture. His mind wandered until the door opened, and a girl asked for permission to enter.

It was Faria.

" Is that the girl? Yah..she is" Tamim thought.

Tamim's eyes narrowed as he watched her take a seat. "So, she studies here?" he thought. "That's how she found me. Convenient.

"She might know more about Dr. Shohan… She confronted that Kabila guy, and Shohan was clearly involved. She's deeper into this than she's letting on."

When the class ended, Tamim tried to talk with her but she disappeared among the crowd of students.

"What's her deal?" Tamim wondered, annoyed. "She noticed me. I'm sure of it. We had awkward eye contact the entire class. Where could she have gone?" Tamim thought as he realized she was nowhere to be found.

Later, at Nextera E-sports, Tamim sat at his desk in a match,  his head resting on his arms as he scrolled mindlessly through his phone. "I don't know why, but I feel strangely interested in this mess…"

While this Rafi who was at a different desk in the game said " Tamim, what are you doing? That was an easy kill..and you died instead?"

Tamim was in his thoughts so he didn't concentrate properly resulting his defeat in game.

" Oh..sorry, i was, i mean my concentration was slightly out of game " Said Tamim

"Hey, man, you alright?" Fahim asked, noticing Tamim's distracted demeanor. "You've been quiet all day. Hiding something? Last few days you are not playing game the way used to "

"No, I'm fine," Tamim replied, waving off the concern.

"Maybe he had a break up or something, " Riya teased. "Secret girlfriend, huh?"

"I swear, sometimes I wonder how a guy like Tamim—so attractive—doesn't have a girlfriend. Fahim, too," Rafi added with a laugh.

Just then, Samia walked into the room, her presence commanding attention. "Guys, I just spoke with her. She'll be joining us tomorrow," she announced.

"Who?" Fahim asked.

"The new player," Samia replied, a hint of excitement in her voice. "She's better than Roky, I think."

"A girl under 19 who's better than Roky? Sounds like a joke," Tamim said, raising an eyebrow.

Samia crossed her arms. "I was an ex-sniper player, and I'm a girl. So how can you say that? You'll see. She's seriously talented as a sniper player. Just wait until tomorrow."

"Tomorrow's Sunday," Samia added. "Let's start practice at 10 AM sharp. Remember, we've got less than a month left before the competition."

To be continued…
