He could still hear the echo of his brothers' laughter and stopped by the great banquet hall, were servants scurried about so he could prepare for Kael's ascension ceremony-an ache of loneliness sat within him, as among the plenty of honours bestowed upon his brothers, he is but a shadow, a ghost in a house filled with light.
But then came hope. In the shadows of the manor, outside the estate, was the shelter offered by David Torres, a manservant with whom Lucian placed his confidence. Many years had passed since David became a servant for Lucian, doing little chores for him, his face masked, but warm, almost tender in his eyes. Not like the other servants made him seem belittling or even insulting in their behavior toward him, David treated him as if he were deferent, from what he could sense lay buried under the veils of hopelessness.
"Your Highness," David greeted him warmly, his voice steady and reassuring. This was a man of solid physique, all his hair very short cropped close to his skull, his eyes peering unwaveringly into Lucian's churning soul. "Are you well?"
"I am fine, David," Lucian said, but the weariness in his voice betrayed him, for he was thinking.
"Thinking again?" David smiled and laughed softly. "You do it far too often. Maybe it is time you took a rest for a moment and enjoyed the celebrations instead."
Lucian let out a heavy sigh, knowing that he was right, yet the prospect of joining the festivities made him squirm with anxiety. "They're all celebrating Kael's ascension. I don't belong there."
Your place is with your family, no matter what," David said firmly, his eyes pinning you in. "You may not have power now, but that does not define you. You are more than your cultivation level."
Lucian looked at David, swelling his chest full of admiration. "You're the only one who believes in me.".
His face, so wholly like a statue, betrayed no reaction to it; he nodded at her. "And I always shall, Your Highness. Little though I may be, my loyalty to you shall never change.
As the sun hid behind the horizon and sent shadows across the courtyard, Lucian was suddenly filled with a new sense of determination. In that instant, he realized he could change everything-not for himself but for David as well. Giving him something monumental was what he was terrified of with a pulsating heart at its mere imagination.
"David," Lucian said, his voice firm, "I want to give you power. Not that kind of power, but the authority to change reality itself."
David's mouth opened in surprise at what Lucian had just said. But Lucian wasn't going to let him say one single thing out.
"There is no one who stood by your side when others' doors were shut. You have shown faithful loyalty even during those times when I felt worthless. It's time for you to become something more.".
And with a determined nod, Lucian concentrated his energy and called out the ethereal sphere that had chosen him. Between them floated and pulsed with brilliant light throwing an eerie glow on David's face.
"David Torres, I now bestow upon you the powers of the Supreme Being," Lucian declared, his voice full of conviction. "You shall be my first servant, granted the Creator realm."

David nodded, and in him determination took possession. "I'll serve you with all my strength, Lucian. Whatever you wish to do, I'll stand for you.".
Now that their bond was in place, Lucian felt hope bloom in his chest. No more was he the lonely prince eclipsed by his brothers; he had a loyal servant and a purpose to live for. Together they would set off on a journey that was about to bridge the limits of their world.
As the festival welcomed sunset at a distance, Lucien looked ahead with joy filling his smile. Destiny loomed ahead, vague and unyielding; but with David, he faced whatever was ahead of them.
