The dense forest was eerily silent, the usual hum of wildlife replaced by an oppressive stillness. Derrick crouched low, his hand hovering above the ground as his team formed a defensive perimeter around him. His blue eyes scanned the area, his expression stern.
A sudden ripple of energy coursed through his mind, the silvery-blue threads weaving gently but insistently into his consciousness. Derrick stilled, letting the connection settle before rising to his full height. The bond grounded him, a familiar presence that brought clarity.
"Stay alert," he said quietly, his voice calm but firm, though the bond was the only reassurance he truly needed.
