The crew had barely begun to recover from their ordeal when the Realm Lord's gaze sharpened, his eyes narrowing toward a faint shimmer on the horizon. It was an anomaly in the otherwise endless expanse of the Nexus—one that shouldn't have existed. Where everything else was fluid and unstable, constantly shifting between realities, this distant glimmer held still, anchored and unchanging.
"Do you see that?" the Realm Lord asked, pointing.
Captain Yara, still adjusting the Echo Skiff's controls, turned her head and squinted. "I do, but that shouldn't be possible. Everything here is supposed to be in flux, constantly tearing itself apart. How is there something… fixed?"
"It's worth investigating," Tierra said, standing and brushing the dust from her robes. Her connection to the natural forces was humming more strongly now. "Whatever that is, it might be the key to understanding the Nexus's instability."
