Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Nothing

Kook had been calling her a few times now, but she kept on ignoring his calls. She was not feeling up talking to anyone, not even her brother.

She didn't sleep a wink last night. She kept on staring out the window at the city blankly. The advantage of being the owner of the building she lived in, she took the penthouse which was the most glamorous out of all flats below hers.

She noticed the sun was starting to rise, she would have to get up and go to work. No matter what happened to her, she needed to be professional and get to work.

She finally got up from her bed after feeling that was time to wake up and go to the bathroom to shower and hopefully, it would freshen her up.

After she was done getting ready and dressed in her formal attire, she grabbed a handbag and her car keys. She didn't forget to wear shades to hide her reddened and swollen eyes.

She made sure to not leave anything behind for one last time, then she walked up to the door. As soon as she opened the door, she stopped on her track and turned her head to the side.

"Have you been mopping my floor?" She asked. She saw him standing next to her door and who knows what kind of positions he did while he camped in front of her house.

"Jilly." He called out her name in a whisper and got up. He looked like a mess as he stood in front of her, but he still looked decent in his state.

"Are you going to work?" He asked. Her clothes are not a determination of where she would go.

"Apparently." She replied. "Will you move? I have updated the list of people who can get into my building. So, once you're out, you can't get back inside. Sorry for the convenience." She said, informing him of what she had decided through last night.

"Everything has its own timing, right? It is my time to talk and you can't interrupt me until I'm done." He said, determined to make her listen.

"Who are you to tell me what to do?" She raised an eyebrow, challenging him.

"Your boyfriend." He replied confidently. She smirked up, seeing him still could speak so confidently about claiming.

"Well, from now on, you're not my boyfriend anymore. Just like you said, everything has its own timing. Our time is over now." She made that clear to him, so he would stop and back out.

"It is not. I have not accepted it. I won't." He shook his head and refused to agree with her.

"Isaiah, just give it up. Nothing will change what has torn my heart. I told you this before we started dating, I can never trust anyone and I could never trust you. But four years have passed and multiple times have I caught you with her. I felt like I was the one who wrecks your relationship with her. Nobody told me, but a secret is meant to be opened up sooner or later." Jilly had given up on feeling emotions. She was tired of being used for her feelings. That was why she chose the job she had now.

No more strings attached and no more feelings.

"You're wrong. I stopped loving her when I met you. That was even before we started dating. You caught my attention the most out of all women in the club. Jilly, Katherine was my past and I admit that. But you are my future. There is no one who can fit your position better than you."

"I did sleep with her, but I would like to redeem myself to you. I was wrong and I am at fault. But Julliane... it was never wrong for me to love." He cupped one of her cheeks. His eyes teared up. "Please, -"

He couldn't even finish what he said before tears streamed down his face. But instead, she leaned in and kissed him right on the lips. "Goodbye, Isaiah."

Then, she continued her walk toward the elevator. She took the elevator without a second glance. She kept her head held high despite being emotionally wrecked inside.

She had loved him for four years. She loved him sincerely, despite what she saw. She knew that he was always close to Kathrine. She found out and forgave him once. She found out twice and still forgave him. But then, she stopped loving him altogether when they started to get cozy and live like a couple who said they were only best friends.

She saved him many times and forgave him for the deed he did against her family's business.

"What's with the shades?" Kook asked his sister as she approached him in the lobby. He had been waiting for her to come down because he was forbidden to go up according to the new rules she set and had not informed him about.

"Nothing," Jilly replied plainly.

"What's with the new rules?"

"Nothing." Again, Jilly replied with the same ones and tone.

Walking side by side, Kook had the opportunity to see her from the side. He frowned and noticed something was not right with her. He took off her sunglasses which caught her off guard.

"What the hell, Jilly? Are you trying to hide something from me? Did something happen?" Kook shoots her with questions. Yesterday, he dropped her off looking fine. But today, she looked like a zombie.

"Nothing happened," Jilly replied in an emphasizing tone.

"Stop saying nothing. Something happened, so tell me. Did he do something to you? Don't look away from me." Kook gripped her chin, so she stayed looking at him. He was concerned and she couldn't just act like that to him, her brother.

"I said, nothing happened! Stop looking at me like I can't take care of myself." Jilly finally exploded.

"I wouldn't care or interfere if it's about your work. But this... happened after I dropped you off." Kook pointed to her reddened eyes.

"Haven't you heard of insomnia, brother? That happened to those who couldn't sleep a wink. Can you just leave me alone if you're going to question me every five seconds?" Jilly said in an irritated tone. She was angry to the point that she exploded at anyone that annoyed her. She was sad and her sadness turned into madness.

"You never had insomnia. You just never sleep." Kook muttered and continued to walk to avoid a fight with his sister. He would just let her be. If she had a problem, she would come up to him willingly or the problem would rise by itself.
