Chapter 15 - Ivy gets curious

Blue calmly explained what she had experienced during her drive to pick Ivy from school. Sally's eyes widened in shock.

"Don't say I'm being paranoid Sally" Blue cut her off before Sally could say a word.

"Fine" Sally raised up her hands lightly, "but we need to confirm our claims before we make any move. When we are sure of our findings, we would report the case to the police station even with their incompetent ability"

"Maybe I should leave the city, just anywhere from here"

"No! You wouldn't dump years of hard work just because of who you think is following you " Sally retorted, "it doesn't matter where you run off to, these people are powerful and they can hunt you down"

Blue didn't need the words of a soothsayer to tell her who Sally was referring to, aside Jack, she knew she didn't have any relationship with the wealthy ones or business tycoons. Not to talk of offending them.

"Are you accusing Jack of doing this things to me?!" she yelled defensively.

"I know how much you love him Blue, but he isn't worth your love. Like I've always told you, he isn't what you think he is, including his family" Sally said calmly.

"What do you think I should do?" although she hated the fact that he was married and rumors of what Sally spoke about seemed true. She didn't want to believe he was like the rest of his family. She sighed in resignation.

"Cut off ties with him, Blue. He is married" Her brain seemed to faze out the rest of the sentence that came out of Sally's mouth.

She stared at Sally in disbelief unable to comprehend why Sally was doing all of this for her; was it her way of looking out for her or was there another intent. She opened her mouth to say something but kept quiet.

"You have been doing so well without him. Now he's back in your life and what do you see? Lots of threats and the feeling of being followed around, is that really what you want?" Sally spat, her tone rising in anger.

Blue looked away in sadness, she was at a loss. She wanted a safe life for her and Ivy but she had become so attached to him to let go. She knew she was endangering herself and her daughter, she sighed.

"I'm at a crossroad Sally…."

"Just do what I told you!" She hissed.

Ivy ran into the living room with a book, "hey mommy" she said casually. "Aunty Sally! You're here!" she greeted Sally with a gust of excitement.

"Yes, how are you doing dearest?" Sally reciprocated the warm greetings.

"I'm good. Mommy, I have an assignment" she said seriously.

"I thought you had it all figured out?" Blue asked curiously.

"Well this one says I'm to do it with my daddy. Why don't I have one mommy?" Ivy whined.

"so that's the reason Miss Abby requested my presence" Blue muttered, her voice almost inaudible.

"Baby I can stand in as your father" Blue pressed, she wanted this conversation to be over as quick as possible. She had lots of things on her plate and she needed maximum concentration on them.

"But I need a real father!" Ivy protested. The place became eerily quiet; Blue thought desperately for a response, but she couldn't figure out anything while Sally sat quietly, her expression unreadable.

After a brief moment of silence and tension, Ivy spoke up again. "Mommy, what about that man from the other day? Can he be my father?"

Blue froze in the couch.

Why did she remember this all of a sudden, she knew her daughter was an intuitive one but she wasn't expecting this question now.

Blue didn't know how to salvage the situation, fortunately for her, Sally came to the rescue.

"Sweet Ivy, you have to let mommy do it this time around. Daddy cannot be available for now" Sally explained calmly with a smile, "but he'd be available soon.

Ivy face lightened and without another word, she ran into the room.
