Chereads / I obtained an Overpowered Bodyguard System / Chapter 20 - Payback feels nice

Chapter 20 - Payback feels nice

The cold air feels heavier in the dimly lit space, the faint smell of concrete dust hanging in the air as Damian takes his seat on the upper stairs, his smug grin stretching across his face like a dark cloud looming over the room. His eyes glint with arrogance as he lounges back, barking orders like a self-appointed king. Surrounding me are six of his men, their faces shadowed but familiar, a mix of contempt and misplaced confidence radiating from them.

I scan the circle that tightens around me. Benny isn't here—the one I wanted to crush beneath my boots—but it doesn't matter. None of these guys is worth my real energy. I've leveled up, and it shows in their stiff postures, their eyes flickering with uncertainty. They know. They might not admit it, but they know.

"I heard your friends dropped," Daimain's voice echoes off the walls, his tone dripping with malice. He leans forward slightly, his smile widening as if savoring the moment. "Man, I really wanted to have a taste of them."

His men snicker like a pack of hyenas. My blood boils but remains controlled, waiting for the right moment to unleash it.

"But hey… I still have you."

Daimain's gaze turns predatory as he names the ones around me—Josh, Steven, Burnley, Set—all eager to prove something they never will.

All these bastards were there back then. His normal pack that would do anything for him.

Sigh, take any scan. They are all weak, my gut feels it and am pretty confidence that I can take them all.

I narrow my eyes at him. "Stop with the yapping." My voice cuts through the air like a knife. "We didn't come here for a talk." I kick off my Crocs, the sound of rubber scraping against concrete echoing as I prepare to unleash hell. "Let's finish this."

The smugness on Daimain's face morphs into irritation. "You fucking bastard!" he yells. "Get him!"

The system pings in my vision:

System Alert: Quest Delivered. Defeat all seven enemies.

Reward: 1000 Experience Points,

a Return Credit.

A slow grin curls on my lips. I'd almost forgotten about the return credit,.

This fuckers just gave me the best reward. It is worth it in the end.

"What is so funny bastard!!!" Josh yells.

"You just gave me the best reward, I will be sure to give it back,"

"The hell are you saying!!"

Josh is the first to make a move, rushing toward me with a wild punch aimed at my jaw. Pathetic. His fist cuts through the air in slow motion, and I easily duck under it, countering with a vicious uppercut that connects with his solar plexus. The impact sends him staggering back, gasping for air, his face twisted in disbelief.

[skill uppercut activated]

Critical Hit! Uppercut: +100 Damage

He barely has time to recover before I grab his arm, twisting it behind his back in a tight lock. With a swift motion, I execute the Skylock Grapple, flipping him over my shoulder and slamming him into the ground with a thunderous crack.

[skill skylock grapple activated]

Skylock Grapple: +200 Damage

Josh's body hits the floor with a sickening thud, and he doesn't get back up.

Steven and Burnley come at me next, flanking me from both sides. Steven throws a right hook, fast but predictable. I block it easily with my forearm, then spin on my heel to meet Burnley's advance. He's bigger, stronger, but slow—too slow. I dodge his heavy punch, stepping inside his guard, and drive my knee hard into his ribs. I feel the satisfying crunch of bone beneath my knee as Burnley lets out a choked scream.

[skill Bine crusher hold activated]

Critical Hit! Bone Crusher Hold: +300 Damage

I grab Burnley by the back of his head, slamming his face into my rising knee. The impact leaves him dazed, blood gushing from his nose, and with one final knee to the jaw, he crumples to the ground.

Steven takes a wild swing at me in desperation, but it's sloppy, and I sidestep it easily. With a quick pivot, I bring my elbow crashing into the side of his head, the blow hard and precise. His eyes roll back, and he drops like a stone, completely unconscious.

[skill cooldown activated]

Critical Hit! +250 Damage

Set freezes, staring at the bodies of his friends littering the floor. His face pales as he realizes he's outmatched. But it's too late for second thoughts. I'm already moving. A quick jab to his throat makes him stumble, his hands instinctively flying to his neck. His body convulses, gasping for breath, and I finish him with a spinning roundhouse kick that lands clean against the side of his head. He goes down hard, and he's not getting back up.

Set defeated: +200 Damage

Four down. Two left.

Gideon is shaking, his eyes wide with fear. "Shit! Shit! I'm out…" he stammers, trying to make a break for it, but I catch him by the collar, dragging him back.

"You're not going anywhere," I snarl, pulling him into my grasp. I drive my knee repeatedly into his gut, each impact forcing the air from his lungs in painful wheezes. He tries to scream, but the sound dies in his throat as I slam my knee into his face. His nose explodes in a spray of blood as he crumples to the ground, broken and defeated.

Gideon defeated: +400 Damage

Damian, still seated on the stairs, watches the carnage unfold with growing frustration. He stands, his hands clutching a metal rod, and he charges at me with a feral roar. His swing is wild and desperate, but I see it coming. I sidestep effortlessly, my leg shooting out to trip him mid-swing. He crashes face-first into the cold concrete floor, the metal rod clattering uselessly beside him.

Before he can even groan in pain, I'm on him. I grab him by his collar and drag him across the room, his body scraping against the rough surface. Daimain struggles, but I don't give him a chance to recover. I lock him into an iron vice, wrapping my arm tightly around his neck, squeezing the life out of him.

[Skill Iron Vice activated]

His face turns red, veins bulging as he claws at my arm, but my grip only tightens. He's powerless, trapped, and with one final gasp, his body goes limp.

Daimain defeated: Quest Complete.

The user has managed to rewrite the last outcome…..+100 bonus points

Reward: 1000 Experience Points, Return Credit Unlocked.

I release him, letting his unconscious body fall limp on the floor beside the others.

Leveled up…

Leveled up…

[skill cooldown activated]

Damn, that felt so good, I can barely contain the urge to scream. The rush, the adrenaline, the satisfaction of finally getting my revenge—it's all hitting me at once. I've waited for this moment for too long, and now that it's here, it feels like a release. But something's not right. Why didn't Benny show up? It's strange—too fucking strange. Benny's not the type to just ignore something like this. He was the one who roughed us up the most, the one who thrived in these pathetic little power trips. This whole setup was his kind of thing.

I let out a heavy sigh, my heart still pounding in my chest.

I glance down at the fallen bodies, some of them still writhing in pain, their groans echoing in the empty room. The sight should have satisfied me more, but it's tainted by the nagging question of Benny's absence. Whatever the reason, I need to get out of here. There's no doubt in my mind that they've already called in reinforcements—probably a few fresh recruits eager to prove themselves by taking me down.

Time's ticking, and I don't plan on

Congratulations on the achievement Lex…
