Chapter 16 - Awakening Shadows

Ethan began to understand how dangerous the legacy within him might be. If Valdraxx was correct, and he was indeed the last descendant of the Devourer, then the potential he possessed could be far greater than he had imagined.

But it also meant he might be carrying a destructive curse.

Valdraxx, sensing Ethan's doubts, continued, "The Devourers are not just powerful foes; they are a threat to the order of the world. Their power cannot be easily controlled. That is why I doubt that you, a human, can fully control what might be inside you. However, with the artifact now within you, there may be a way to understand more."

Ethan pondered Valdraxx's words. The artifact now in his body, the Essence of the Devourer, could be the key to unlocking his full potential or it could be a source of destruction if not mastered properly.

Amid all this, Ethan realized that there might be a greater destiny awaiting him, but he also knew that the path ahead was fraught with danger.

"So, we need to gather more information," Ethan concluded. "We need to learn more about the Devourers, about this artifact, and about myself."

Valdraxx, with a booming and authoritative voice, responded to Ethan's inquiry seriously, "Yes, and all of that lies within the realm of dragons. So, let us first strengthen your body."

Ethan nodded, understanding that physical strength was vital for survival in this world.

"Alright, what will we do next?" he asked, eager to start training.

"But before that, try to make something useful from that deer horn for future battles. Not all creatures can be defeated with it, but if you encounter wolves like before, it will be enough to kill them," Valdraxx replied, providing clear and helpful instructions.

Ethan, accustomed to crafting emergency weapons from various materials back on Earth, began to think quickly. He knew that a good weapon could be a lifesaver. Carefully, he searched for suitable parts.

Ethan looked around the area where they had taken a rest. His gaze was drawn to some vines growing on the ground.

The vines looked flexible and sturdy enough to be used as a weapon handle. Without a second thought, he grabbed the vines, carefully pulling them from the ground to avoid damaging the roots.

Next, his gaze shifted to the deer horn now lying beside him. The horn looked very sharp and strong, with a tip that could be used to stab an enemy.

Seeing its potential, Ethan felt a surge of excitement as he began to craft his emergency weapon.

With the materials he had found, Ethan began to work with focus. First, he cut the longer base of the horn, ensuring that the tip remained sharp.

He knew that a weapon needed to deliver maximum damage, and sharpness was key. He used a sharp stone he had found earlier as a cutting tool.

Next, Ethan cut the vines to a suitable size for the sword's handle. He wanted a grip that was comfortable yet strong so that it wouldn't slip when used.

Using the skills he had learned on Earth, Ethan began to tightly bind the vines to the bottom of the horn. He employed knot techniques he remembered from camping with his friends.

Carefully, he ensured each knot was tight enough that there was no chance of the weapon coming loose when used.

Valdraxx, observing the process, provided guidance with a worried tone.

"Make sure your binding is strong enough, Ethan. This weapon needs to withstand battle," Valdraxx emphasized, instilling confidence in Ethan.

Once finished, Ethan lifted his weapon, an emergency sword made from the sharp deer horn with a handle made of vines.

The weapon looked simple but had its own appeal. Confidently, Ethan swung the sword through the air, feeling its balance and power.

"Wow, this is quite light and comfortable," he said with a smile, feeling proud of his creation.

A sense of confidence began to grow within him, realizing that he had successfully crafted a tool that would help him survive in this dangerous world.

"Good, that will be very useful. Now we can move on to training to strengthen your body," Valdraxx replied with a more optimistic tone. "We need to ensure you can use this weapon effectively and hone your combat skills."
