The swamp they were heading into was notorious for its dangerous creatures.
There were rumors about the Swamp Hydra, a massive monster whose heads could regenerate after being cut off, and the Misleading Sludge, slimy beings that could drown anyone in what appeared to be ordinary mud from afar.
However, there was no faster route than this one.
Jezz urged his horse forward, breaking the silence with the steady rhythm of hooves. Oth followed quietly, though his eyes occasionally darted left and right, scanning for the dark shadows moving between the swamp trees.
The ground was becoming damper, and muddy water began appearing on either side of their path.
"These creatures... would love the taste of human flesh," Jezz joked without fear, his eyes still focused ahead.
Oth didn't laugh. He knew Jezz enjoyed danger, but he also knew how treacherous this swamp could be. They could easily become prey if they weren't careful.
