Chapter 82 - Chapter 83: Awakening

The three-eyed crow in the dream led him all the way north. It was not until he met the Jojen siblings that Bran knew the origin of his strange dream.

"This is your fate and your responsibility," said Old Man Brynden.

"I don't care about fate, and I don't want to take responsibility. I just want to stand up." Bran's tone contained a plea.

The reason why he insisted on lying on the wooden board until now was to find the Three-Eyed Raven and heal his legs. Even if he couldn't climb the wall again, it was better than lying on the wooden board like a useless person every day.

"I can't make you stand up again, but I can make you see things in a different way that you've never seen before."

His long-term persistence did not bring him the expected results. Bran felt that he had lost the strength to support his body. He simply leaned on his arms and didn't want to pay any more attention to Brynden.

"Do you want to spend your whole life in bed without experiencing another life? A life you have never thought about." Seeing that Bran was a little discouraged, Brynden had to enlighten Bran.

Bran still lay on his arms without raising his head. What kind of life could he have if he couldn't even stand up?

He had loved climbing since he was a child. He had already climbed all the tall buildings in Winterfell. When he learned that he was going to King's Landing, he had imagined himself climbing the Red Castle.

In addition to climbing, he also likes riding horses. When he grows up, he wants to be a brave knight like his father Ed. However, since he can't stand up, these will have nothing to do with him.

"Don't you want to know who pushed you off the tower?" Brynden asked again when he saw that Bran still ignored him.

"Who is it?" Bran immediately raised his head when he heard Brynden's question, his eyes full of hatred.

Ever since he woke up from the fall, he has been trying to recall why he fell from the tower, and other people in Winterfell are also asking themselves whether they fell from the top of the tower accidentally.

But no matter how hard he tried to recall, he could not remember even a single thing about how he climbed up the tower and then fell down.

He also suspected that he might have lost his footing and fell, although he had never made a mistake in climbing before.

Now hearing Brynden's question, he immediately realized that he probably didn't fall accidentally, but there must be other reasons.

"I don't need to tell you. You can see for yourself." Brynden looked at the leaves standing on the wall to his right.

Ye Zi understood and turned to walk deeper into the cave.

"See it myself? Using the ability of the alien? But I have used it before, so it should be impossible for me to see it."

Bran once invaded the consciousness of the direwolf Summer, but he could only see what the direwolf saw. How could he know the truth about why he fell from the tower?

Brynden didn't say anything, but looked deeper into the cave. Leaf, who had just entered, was slowly walking out with a wooden bowl in his hand.

"Drink this bowl of fish beam seed porridge, and you will be able to see everything you want to see." Brynden said hopefully.

Bran forced himself to look at the bowl of porridge that Ye Zi handed him. The porridge was emerald green with grass-seed-like fish-beam seeds floating on it, and a hint of blood was faintly visible in the bowl.

Looking at the strange fish-beam seed porridge, Bran hesitated. He looked back at Meera and the wildling Osha, hoping they could give him some advice.

Meera has not yet recovered from the grief of losing her brother Jojen. She and her brother went through a lot of hardships to escort Bran to see the Three-Eyed Raven, and her brother lost his life for this.

She didn't know why her brother, an alien, was willing to sacrifice his life to let Bran see the Three-Eyed Raven as if he was carrying out a mission.

She also saw that Brynden really wanted Bran to drink the weirwood seed porridge, so she naturally would not stop him. It could be said that she was fulfilling her brother's last wish.

And Brynden wouldn't have gone to such great lengths to lure Bran in and then harm him with the bowl of porridge.

The wildling Osha was very shocked by Brynden's appearance when she came in. She could not understand the conversation between the two at all, and of course could not give Bran the answer he wanted.

Bran knew in his heart that the bowl of porridge was related to the fate and responsibility that Brynden had talked about.

He has now lost his legs, and life has lost its greatest meaning to him. Now it seems that he has nothing left to lose. The only thing left in his heart is the resentment towards the person who pushed him off the tower.

Thinking of this, Bran supported his body with his left hand, took the wooden bowl from Ye Zi's hand with his right hand, put it to his mouth and drank it. As soon as he swallowed a sip, he felt extremely bitter.

Just as I was hesitating whether to continue drinking it, I felt a cool and refreshing feeling in my throat, which greatly relieved the dryness in my throat from the journey.

So he drank the remaining fish beam seed porridge in a few mouthfuls without hesitation, and suddenly felt that his whole body seemed to have more strength.

Satisfied as Bran finished his porridge, Brynden said, "Come closer to me. Place your hand on the Heart Tree and let your consciousness sink into the tree, just as you enter Summer's consciousness. Think about what you want to see."

Bran followed his instructions and climbed under the tree. He half leaned against it, stroked the trunk with his hand, and recalled the countless attempts he had made before.

It was pitch black in front of him, and Bran could only hear some suppressed murmurs in his ears. He tried hard to open his eyes and saw the familiar scene in front of him.

This was the ruined tower of Winterfell that he had climbed several times. Following the direction of the voice, he saw a noble face that looked a little painful, Queen Cersei, who was now being held in the arms of a blond man.

Bran looked at the scene curiously, and gradually recalled the time when he climbed the ruined tower that day.

"Hmm?" Cersei, who had her eyes closed and a painful expression on her face, suddenly opened her eyes and saw Bran. Bran was startled and was about to hide, but suddenly realized that Cersei was not looking at him, but another self who was lying on the windowsill behind her and looking inside.

The blond man noticed something strange about the person in his arms, and turned to look out the window. Bran, who was lying on the window, found that he was seen by the people in the remaining tower, so he hurriedly stood up and tried to climb onto the windowsill and escape from the top of the tower.

But in his haste, his feet slipped, his body was half hanging, and he couldn't find a place to gain leverage.

"Little Stark, you really shouldn't come here." After saying that, the blond man pushed Bran down from the broken tower.

It was the Queen's brother, Jaime the Kingslayer, who pushed me down the broken tower. Bran finally knew why he couldn't stand up.

Returning to the cave, Bran was still breathing rapidly. He experienced the process of being pushed down the ruined tower again, which made his heart beat faster.

"I wasn't wrong, was I?" Looking at Bran's breathless and horrified expression, Brynden already knew that Bran had seen what he wanted to see.

"Can I see everything I want to know as long as I want to see it?" Bran asked after a moment.

"Mostly." Brynden nodded.

"But you can't stay there too long, or you'll lose yourself and never find your way back." Brynden couldn't help but remind Bran as soon as he finished speaking.

Bran nodded and put his hand back on the tree...
