Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Interview

Drogon was in trance all night and arrived when Daenerys was interviewing her. He stood at her shoulder and seemed a little dazed, but in fact he didn't dare to think too much.

Daenerys didn't know where Drogon went last night. Seeing that he seemed in a bad mood, she gently stroked his back to comfort him.

[Hmph! What if...] drogon couldn't help complaining in his heart. He stopped thinking as soon as he had the idea, and continued to look down and think.

Daenerys just heard a hint of dissatisfaction in Drogon's heart, and then saw that he didn't say anything else. She wondered who he was angry with. She looked at Drogon with concern, who had his eyes slightly closed, and focused her attention on the interview that was about to begin.

The first to come up was the skinny old man Daenerys had noticed before, who used to teach the children of the wise master.

"What knowledge do you have? What are you good at? You can tell us anything that the wise master teaches." Missandei presided over the entire interview and asked the first question.

"I...I teach the children in the wise lord's house Valyrian and Ghis, and teach them how to read and write, how to calculate, and the simple history of Yunkai." Arata had never seen such a scene before and felt a little uneasy.

"Give me a brief account of what you normally teach, as well as the calculation methods." This is an area Darren is more proficient in, so he will be the one to do the assessment.

After listening to Darren, Arata began to tell about his experience as a teacher in the wise master's house.

Daeron listened and took notes, and when Arata finished speaking, he nodded to Missandei and moved on to the next interview.

After listening to Arata's story, Drogon felt that he was only at the third grade level in his previous life, and his arithmetic was at most second grade. As soon as he came to this conclusion, he looked at the Dragon Queen vigilantly and found that she was watching Arata leave with no change on her face.

[Didn't notice?] Drogon judged that Dragon Queen probably didn't know what he was thinking just now. As soon as he finished thinking, he found that Dragon Queen's eyes turned to her shoulder.

Drogon couldn't help wondering, didn't the Dragon Queen react when he secretly assessed Arata's level? Why did she seem to have noticed something? He suppressed his doubts and decided to continue observing.

The next person to come on stage is the doctor. Apart from treating colds and fevers with simple bandaging, he has no other way to treat more serious illnesses. After comparison, drogon thinks he is equivalent to a doctor in a health center.

While evaluating in his mind, he also paid attention to the changes in Dragon Mother's expression, trying to figure out the pattern of being spied on.

After the doctor left, a middle-aged man in his forties wearing a linen gown and with long black hair came in with a wooden board in his hand and a long backpack on his back.

The interviewees were all a little surprised at the man's attire and the items he carried, but drogon could tell at a glance that he should be a painter. After introducing himself, he began to demonstrate his painting skills.

He took out quill pens of varying thicknesses and several ink cartridges of different colors from his backpack, unfolded a large piece of parchment and fixed it to the wooden board with a plywood and rope.

The parchment should have been custom-made, and no signs of splicing could be seen. Everything was ready. The painter named Huntley placed the drawing board on his legs, straightened it with his left hand, looked up at Daenerys, and prepared to start writing.

When Daenerys saw that Huntley wanted to paint her, she quickly sat up straight, straightened her clothes, looked at Missandei beside her, and was relieved when she saw her nod. She smiled and waited for Huntley to paint.

[I can feel beautiful every day without looking in a bronze mirror!] Thinking of Daenerys spending more than half an hour every day dressing up in front of a blurry bronze mirror, Drogon couldn't help but complain in his heart.

"Me!!!" Daenerys' eyes widened and her smile disappeared instantly. When she saw Missandei's surprised expression, she gritted her teeth and forced herself to smile.

Seeing the Dragon Queen's reaction, Drogon understood, and at the same time felt a sense of revenge.

Ten minutes later, seeing that Huntley had not finished painting yet, everyone became restless but did not dare to show any impatience.

Having never been a model before, Daenerys' expression gradually became a little unnatural, and she was also afraid that she would delay the interview because of herself. However, the painter Huntley remained calm and methodically changed the quill pens and repaired the details of the portrait.

Twenty minutes later, the portrait was finally finished, and Daenerys felt relieved.

Placing the brush on the ink box, Huntley stood up to display the portrait of Daenerys.

"Wow!" Missandei exclaimed. Although Jorah and the others did not exclaim out loud, they all opened their mouths in surprise. Looking at the portrait, Daenerys felt that she had never seen herself so clearly.

The person in the painting is wearing light blue clothes, with long silver hair tied into a braid and draped behind her, leaving only two strands of bangs hanging in front of her chest.

The beautiful face exudes nobility, and the corners of the smiling mouth imply majesty. Is this really me? Daenerys couldn't help but reach out and touch her cheek.

She remembered what word Drogon used to describe her? It seemed to be the queen... style. Could this be what he meant by the queen style? Daenerys thought embarrassedly.

She looked at her several interviewers again, and they all had expressions of amazement on their faces, which did not seem fake.

[Master-level!] Looking at the portrait of Dragon Mother, Drogon was full of admiration. Although he was not an expert in painting, he still thought that Huntley's level was not low. Not to mention in this world, even in his previous life, he would probably be a professional painter.

I didn't expect to see such a masterpiece in a small place like Yunkai.

"Your Majesty, this portrait is my gift to you. Please accept it."

Huntley was very satisfied with everyone's reactions. After Daenerys finished admiring the painting, he handed it to her and said.

"I'm sure it must be worth a lot. This gift is too precious." Daenerys politely declined and planned to buy the portrait.

"Without Your Majesty's queenly demeanor, I could not paint this portrait. It should be given to Your Majesty," Huntley praised generously.

Seeing that the painter Huntly was unwilling to accept the money, Daenerys did not force him. She also could not let her portrait be lost in the world, so after thanking him, she asked Missandei to put away the portrait.

Missandei didn't know much about painting, and although she thought Huntley was quite capable, she still looked at the other officers and asked for their opinions.

"I think the painting skills of Painter Huntley have reached the top level in the continent." As a former Kingsguard, Barristan had seen many paintings in King's Landing and made this comment.

Jorah and Daeron nodded slightly after hearing this. As nobles, they also agreed with Barristan's statement.

Missandei wrote down the interview conclusions on a piece of paper, thanked Huntley again on behalf of Daenerys, and then asked him to go down and rest for the next round of interviews.

The subsequent interviewees included all kinds of talents, including farmers, various craftsmen, blacksmiths, musicians... However, there were very few interviewees who were proficient in government affairs, history and languages.

At the end of a day of interviews, Drogon had figured out the pattern of having his thoughts spied on by the Dragon Queen and roughly came to a conclusion.

He could only blame himself for being lonely for too long in his previous life, which led to him developing the habit of talking to himself. Even after coming to this world and getting rid of his human body, he still hadn't changed this habit.

The only thing that the Mother of Dragons could spy on was probably her own mumbling.

As a dragon, he was unable to speak, so he couldn't tell when he was thinking and when he was talking to himself. It was only after frequent tests that he figured out the pattern.

After understanding it clearly, Drogon no longer worried about the Dragon Queen discovering secrets that he shouldn't know. As long as he tried his best to change the habit of talking to himself, the Dragon Queen would not be able to find out anything.

But it is easier said than done. For the first two nights, he practiced entering a state of meditation on a tree branch. It was pitch black all around him, with a bright moon and starry sky above his head.

Faced with these, he naturally has nothing to say, but when he is in a crowded place or facing certain things, he can't help but complain or express his ideas.

[Alas... my damn habit! ] drogon couldn't help but lament. He was helpless about this and could only try his best to control the mouth in his heart.
