The game was chaos, pure and unfiltered. Hugo and Lily stood on one side of the screen, holding oversized plastic controllers shaped like laser guns.
Across from them, Collins and Tily were already grinning, radiating an aura of smug confidence.
It was a team-based shooting game, the objective simple: blast as many moving targets as possible and outscore your opponents.
Simple, yes—but only if your team wasn't completely out of sync.
"Alright, Hugo," Lily said, adjusting her grip on the controller. Her green eyes sparkled with determination. "We've got this, right?"
Hugo nodded stiffly, his palms already sweating. "Yeah, totally," he lied, glancing at Collins, who winked at him.
'He's mocking me,' Hugo thought bitterly. 'He knows I'm terrible at these things. But not today. Today, I'll rise above!'
