Chapter 74 - Odd One Out.

Hugo's eyes fluttered open, and for a few peaceful moments, he lay in the soft, warm bed, enjoying the quiet. 

The sunlight spilled into the room, casting a golden glow on everything. He stretched lazily, a small smile spreading across his face.

Then it hit him. Last night.

His heart skipped as the memories came rushing back. 

Lisa's warm laughter, her teasing touches, the way she had kissed him like he was her entire world—it all replayed in his head like a highlight reel of pure bliss. 

He couldn't help but grin like an idiot. 'Man,' he thought, stretching lazily, 'that was the best night of my life.'

But then the memory shifted, and his smile froze. He remembered that moment.

The moment she had pulled back, smiled sweetly, and said, "Not today."

His blissful smile evaporated, replaced by a sour grimace that could've curdled milk. He sat up in bed, running a hand through his messy hair.
