Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:Old Wounds

Inside a small cottage at the bottom of a large mountain. A middle aged woman could be seen preparing dinner. She skillfully chopped the vegetables and poured it into the pot on the firewood.

She moves out side and brings in a dead rabbit. She prepared it, stuffed it with stuffings and placed it over fire to roast.

She sat down by the fire quietly roasting it. After an hour everything was done and she set the table for two and patiently waited.

After a while the wooden door creaked open. Standing by the open door was a teenage boy with messy hair and tattered clothes. She stands up with a warm smile and takes a towel she prepared before and raps it around the boy. She then guides him to the table to have dinner.

"So, how was it?" She breaks the silence asking the boy a question.

He grabs a rabbit lap and starts munching as he answers a question with a mouth full of Meat " it was ok mom. This isn't the first time I'm turning although I did feel the change you were talking about."

His mother starts eating much subtle than him and says " that's because you're awakening your dominant side that won't let you bow to anyone. Just like your father you are awakening it at a very young age. Remember my ayomide when you feel you don't have aenough strenght or endangered channel that power. It would give you strength to defeat your enemies make sure you remember that."

"Yes mother. You told me you'll tell me something important when I came back, what did you want to tell me?" Ayomide asked

She looks at her son with a firm look and says " if you remember well I told you something of ours was stolen by our enemies which led to your father being killed." He nods meaning he remembers

She continues" for you to understand I must start from the beginning. You and your father are from a lineage of alpha. It's one of the reasons children bearing in this lineage is extended hard after the first child. When a father is about to die he passed his alpha status to his son. This is how it is but this trend can be broken when there is a rare occurrence. An alpha gives birth to two children. The energy can be freely transferred from the father to any of the sons and sometimes it's collected back from the son if he isn't found worthy. The problem with this is that a brother can also steal this power from his brother by ending him. Your father was chosen over brother by his father. We all thought your uncle was okay with it till we found your father dead and your uncle bathee in his blood. Although I wanted to have revenge I knew I didn't have the power to do so, so I ran with you very far away before he could get his hands on you. You see you are the only one who can steal his power has it is rightfully your sand he'll do anything to have you killed."

At this point ayomide couldn't even take another bite of food. He just slowly digested all him mother told him and finally speaks " when you said you had something important to discuss with me I didn't think it's going to be this important I just thought we were going to start another kind of training routine. I have a freaking death target on my back."

" I know this is all hard to take in but the reason I'm saying this is that you going this dominant side is because your body is asking for what is rightfully it's. Its not meant to be this quick but ibguess it's because your father doesn't hold it anymore as he is dead.

After some digging I found some old stuff your father prepared for you. It's like he knew this would happen." Her eyes started getting wet and tears started to fall from her cheeks but ayomide quickly gets up and pets her comforting her " don't worry mom, I'll make sure he didn't die for nothing I'll make sure i get back whats his even if he is dead I'll make him proud."

Sniff "that's my boy. Go pack your stuff you're moving to the city tomorrow."

Confused he asked " what about you? "

" Your uncle knows my scent and can sniff me out Miles away. Going with you will just make tracking you down easy. He doesn't have your scent and although familiar your scent is different from that of your father's so you'll be able to move freely just don't get to close."

" Must I leave you?" He asks her looking sad.

She smiles replying " sacrifices must be made for great things to be accomplished. I'll be with you in spirit. I might not be there but I'll always watch you."

He didn't like the idea of leaving his mother but he understood what was at stake so he nodded then asked "who would I be staying with?"

" You'll be staying with an elder of the Palam pack. He and his family have been informed of your arrival and are expecting you" she replied.

" Wait, from what you told me the Palam pack is an enemy pack why would they care.

He asked confused. Nobody would want to willingly walk into the arms of their enemy.

She smiled and said "let me let you in on a little secret. In the old times pack wars often led to deaths of wolves from both sides. In order to prevent this all packleaders at that time gathered together and formed an alliance. They'll keep their pack in check, but still allow them to think they're rivals. You see all wolves are aggressive and caged wolves often get out of control. If the leaders didn't leave space for their pack to be free they'll start revolting. The leader knew they could keep wolves from dying and allow their pack to get stronger. Two birds with one stone. Steady increase in power with minimal risk, it is a win-win situation. It's only passed down from alpha to alpha so as not to expose this secret to the pack. Your uncle didn't know and thinks all packs are his enemies our pack has become a desolate one as your uncle picks fight with all we have no allies. "

"It's really bad. I understand your point of view."
