Chapter 1 - Reborn Gal

Lin family, Yangli province of the Red Empire.

In a room on the east side, high on an upper storey, stood a woman gazing out of a window. Thick rain filled the autumn sky. The clouds were falling with it, she felt, covering the earth with their moisture-laden sorrow, their shadow and the loneliness and their feelings for each other. Everything was concealed in the mist that floated in eddying currents round every tree and in which the spindrift sparkled so brightly, it made your head spin. Nothing at all could be seen through all this turmoil and the same was true of the human heart.

"I, a gal with no life, actually reincarnated? In a world of cultivation? But I don't even have any talent!"

Lin Susu wiped her tear-stained face. It would have been best if her spirit really could have had the chance for a new beginning – but a body without the ability for cultivating Qi would forever stay just a useless and miserable ghost. Forget it. Anyway, there wasn't a bit of it she could still care for in this cruel and monstrously ugly, as well as wholly debased society. The living she didn't wish to remember, let alone the dead. No matter who or what was involved, whether or not they felt sorry for her, Lin Susu didn't wish to rely on anybody for her whole life. What's even worse is that it seemed that her brothers have the aura of a protagonist.

Though, it seemed that they really cared for her. Even with no motivation, when faced with injustice, even though weak, they'll struggle. She still wants to fight for herself but at least her life will be a peaceful one. In a way. She may not possess any cultivation but that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to fight!

"No, no, no, wait! If the gods truly decided to screw me over like that, at the very least make me a proper damsel-in-distress rather than a useless baby sister! Or at least let me slay a few monsters or something!" The girl cried out. Her indignant emotions bubbled out from behind her tightly clamped lips. Then the distressed voice became quiet. "A damsel-in-distress worthy..."

Before the girl could finish her words, a voice sounded in her head.

[Ding! The Greatest Gaming System is being loaded!]

Hearing the sound of the system was like a warm sun penetrating her cold gloominess. Lin Susu stared blankly into space as a string of blue text began displaying itself across her eyes.

[Host: Lin Susu]

[Realm: None (XP: 0/10)]

[Bloodline: Mortal]

[Vitality: 15/99]

[Exercises: (Can't practice)]

[Techniques: None]

[Professions: None]

'Mortal... a normal mortal... huh, that seems...' Lin Susu laughed miserably. The world of cultivation relies on the bloodline for them to be able to practice. Without a good bloodline, your speed will be extremely slow. Thus, a 'normal' person without a bloodline like her would forever remain at the bottom!

Lin Susu ground her teeth. Never mind that, judging by the XP bar, there has to be a way for the system to allow her to improve her level by using some magical means!

"System! How do I gain XP!" Lin Susu asked.

The system paused for a short time then displayed the answer for her.

[By completing something. For example, cooking a single dish will net you one experience point.]

"Really?!" The corner of her mouth pulled upwards slightly. There are many tasks that she could do that could net her some XP.

Thinking of this, she opened a drawer in the cabinet beside her to look for some writing instruments and some paper, before settling down with her legs crossed and a brush in her hand. A bunch of tasks and ideas began sprouting in her head. Lin Susu worked feverishly. She kept writing down her ideas and as soon as she completed writing one of her thoughts down, she continued with another.

First, she'll do things that are relatively safe and not dangerous. She did have a desire to work out. Secondly, if possible, get hold of the martial arts manuals of the Lin Clan. Even some other professions can be learned to gain XP, such as alchemy or making Talisman. She could probably gain a set of experience by making one, but sadly she has no Qi and can't cultivate, so that may be a little challenging for her to do so. Last, she could focus on hunting magical beasts. This would be done only after she has enough strength or protection from the clan!

Finished planning and ideas, she tossed them into the cabinet and began tidying her room. Her room has been left unattended for over a month now, so it got extremely dusty. Her mind went into a state of bliss as she worked.

After finishing up the last touches, a voice sounded in her mind.

[XP: 3]

She blinked a couple times, not expecting the system to be that generous with giving her the XP for it. Not that she was complaining, far from it, this meant her future will be brighter.

"Huh, this system is quite generous to this gal." She said, and grabbed some clothes and decided to take a shower.

Piling everything up to the bathroom, she removed her clothes, tossed them into a hamper and entered the shower room. There, she grabbed hold of a hose to wash her body with. Her fair pink and blue hair was smooth and free from blemishes, the sort of body every woman envies, and while she may have developed some muscles since she couldn't practice, it did add a unique and healthy look to her appearance.

After a half an hour of cleaning and scrubbing, the girl grabbed the hose to wash away all the soap she covered her skin in. Afterward, she took a clean robe and exited the bathroom while her wet hair flowed like a water nymph down the front of her robes.

[XP: 1]

Her steps paused when she heard the sound of the system, but a small smile creeped onto her face as she realized she completed something, most likely her shower.
