Available classes. This isn't the first time I've seen this. In any game, class selection is everything. It was the foundation of what you could and couldn't do, but here, in this world, I had no choice.

The system had simply left me as a classless adventurer, gaining skills and experience without a defined path.

Until now.

Warrior, Assassin, Mage, Healer.

I knew these classes by heart, having spent my childhood playing various RPGs.

Warrior was the classic choice for getting rough, with big swords and melee attacks. Assassin, on the other hand, gave you agility and precision in the shadows. Mage and Healer... well, magic and healing.

But then came the advanced classes. They were basically enhanced versions of the normal classes. Paladin: a mix of Warrior and Healer. Shadow: an upgrade of the Assassin. Archmage, obviously the most OP if you wanted to throw fireballs the size of a house. And Holy... definitely an offshoot of the Healer, but with divine healing abilities. At first glance, these classes already offered much greater power than the basic ones.

And then there was the special class.

Mimic.

I scratched my head―Mimic? I'd never seen this class in any game I'd ever played. And believe me, I'd played a lot of games.

"What the fvck is that?"

The name sounded strange. Very strange. I only knew "mimic" as those monster chests that try to eat you in RPGs. Which made me wonder: was this a class based on that, a mimic monster?

It's really too bad the system didn't give me an extra description.

Hey, you dare me to figure it out for myself?

"Mmm, I don't like not having information. Choosing a class is a big deal. I need to know exactly what it does."

Mimic―what exactly did that mean? Would it be a class where I could mimic other skills? Copy attacks? Transform into something else, some monster in combat?

The risk was high enough. I could choose one of the advanced classes, knowing exactly what I was getting. Paladin, Shadow, Archmage... all safe and powerful options. But the Mimic, that special class, was a leap into the void. It was like picking a mystery box: it could be something amazing, or it could be a disaster.

Likewise, risks often brought great rewards.

Then the question that will decide it:

Will I be satisfied with an advanced class?

No. I couldn't be satisfied with being just another adventurer. No, I couldn't just be a warrior or a mage or even a paladin. If I wanted to stand out, if I wanted to achieve my goal, I could not be normal. I would have to do something no one else would do.

I looked at the floating screen in front of me.

"Mimic, then." Without further hesitation, I selected Special Class.

The system responded immediately.

[You have selected the Mimic Class]

[A class mission has been triggered]

---

―Mission―

Title: Choose a Path

Type: Class Mission

Reward: Mimic Class

---

―Mission Goal―

To obtain the Mimic special class, you must pass three tests. To do so, you must:

1. Obtain the Withered Virtue Fragment from a powerful Orario adventurer.

2. Obtain the Fragment of Deception

3. Obtain the Fragment of Courage

4. Obtain the Fragment of Understanding a God (optional)

(You will receive rewards for each Fragment you obtain, based on your effectiveness in the tests.)

---

―Note―

Obtain your class to advance.

You can continue to gain monster experience, but you will not level up until you complete this quest.

Once you obtain the class, all experience gained will be automatically applied.

---

I frowned at the screen. Fragments? Withered Virtue? Deception? What the hell did that all mean?! There was no additional information on how to get them or what exactly I was supposed to do. Everything was blank.

It felt like the system was spitting in my face with the typical line, "The best experiences are the ones you discover for yourself."

"What the hell...how am I supposed to finish this if I don't even know where to start?"

I wouldn't deny that I wasn't frustrated, but I could also understand that it wasn't going to be easy. No special class was going to be handed to me on a silver platter, but for the love of gods, couldn't they at least give me a clue?

Just as I was thinking about how complicated this mission looked, I heard the sound of footsteps. As the bathroom door opened, the damp, warm, aromatic air rushed out to crash against me. Even though we were poor, it seemed that Hestia still liked to smell good.

Hestia stood in the doorway, hands on her hips and a smile on her lips.

"What do you think?"

"Pretty cute."

As far as I'm concerned, Hestia has always been a beautiful goddess, so there's not much to say.

"What a boring answer! I'll have to put on my best outfit and make sure you blush at the sight of me hehe~"

"Ah, right."

"Tsk. Aren't you going to take a bath? I've prepared the water for you, come on! Hurry up! I really, really want to try something other than dry bread."

I tried to clear my mind from the worries of the mission for a moment and forced myself to smile.

"Yeah, sure. I think I'll freshen up my head too."
