Chapter 11 - Chapter 9: Duel of Dwarfs

In the Palace of Doom, new places are added every day. After so long, the Doom Master decided to make his living space more enjoyable and granted it life. To dispel boredom, something is always changing—new and more exciting places are constantly being added. But that's a different story, one I will tell you someday. Now, let's return to the tournament.

[Hanz]

Hanz was still worrying about the Doom Master. Many questions raced through his mind, but he didn't have permission to leave the tournament. Once again, Hanz stood on the podium, raised his head, and announced the participants.

"The Wheels of Doom love to see duels between members of the same race, and today's match features two dwarfs! First, the strongest dwarf, a man who can control lightning—Spinell! On the other side, a dwarf who can control people's minds—Steady!"

[The Fight]

The two participants came out into the arena. The dwarfs stopped in front of each other. Spinell looked down at his opponent. "So, you're my opponent? You look weak! You're an embarrassment to the dwarf race!"

Steady responded, "Maybe I'm much weaker than you, but I won't let you win easily!"

With these words, the dwarfs moved away, both confident in their trump card. After a few seconds, the gong finally rang.

The moment the gong rang, they rushed at each other, locking hands in a contest of strength. Both tried to overpower the other. Ground cracked under there feet's. Each impact was rumbling air around them.

"Hah, so you're not as weak as you said!" Spinell pushed harder. "Lying isn't good, you know?" Steady pushed back. "It wasn't a lie, you really are stronger in some ways. I just didn't tell you everything."

With those words, Steady kicked Spinell in the knee. Spinell shouted in pain, and the moment of weakness allowed Steady to land another blow. Once again, his strike was successful, and Spinell was pushed back.

"Good, good! Finally, a worthy opponent," Spinell spat out blood. "You've had enough fun, now it's my turn!" With these words, Spinell grabbed his double axe. "Let's dance!" He rushed at Steady.

In the blink of an eye, Spinell was behind Steady. With a lightning-enchanted axe, he struck, but Steady somehow managed to redirect the attack. However, the lightning still caused some damage, running through Steady's body and injuring his organs.

For a moment, Steady stopped, pain shouting, smoke and blood were coming from his mouth.

"This is your end," Spinell said, raising his axe to finish the job. But suddenly, the axe slipped from his hands, and at that moment, he felt a punch that knocked him back several meters.

"You really thought that was all I had? The game is just beginning!" Steady took out a bow and missed. He shot again—another miss. None of the arrows managed to even touch Spinell.

Annoyed after missing Steady started complaining "Why the hell wheels gave me a bow? I'm not a f***ing elf!" With those words, he threw the bow aside, broke an arrow, and fashioned its heads into claw-like weapons, resembling Wolverine's claws. "Now things will get more interesting."

Using his new weapon, and telepathy, Steady started landing hits. Every time Spinell was about to attack, Steady used telepathy to command him to close his eyes, counterattacking with jabs, uppercuts, and leg kicks. Slowly, more and more damage was done.

"This is f***ing enough!" Spinell shouted, wrapping himself in a giant sphere of lightning. Because of impact Steady was threw away. "Now what!? What can you do!?" he laughed, while floating above the ground.

Steady, coughing up blood, thought to himself, 'How is this possible? I've been controlling his mind with telepathy. Is his mind stronger than mine?'

Suddenly, he stood up and threw arrows at Spinell. "I don't believe your mind can be stronger than mine!" With these words, Steady tried once again to shake Spinell's mind.

"I don't have the option to lose here. I must exact my revenge on the world!" Steady tried to distract Spinell from controlling his shield, he was trying to make Spinell remember most painful moments of his life, while stimulating physical pain too.

Pain surged through Spinell's body. Controlling the lightning shield while being mentally attacked was harder than he'd imagined. Finally, to end the pain, he threw his axe at Steady.

Steady dodged it, but he was distracted from controlling opponent, Spinell had anticipated this, and a lightning punch landed squarely on Steady's face. A roar of pain filled the air. The smell of burnt hair and flesh permeated the coliseum.

Steady was writhing in agony, shouting through tears, "I can't die here! I must destroy the world for leaving me alone!" His cries of anguish echoed, freezing the crowd with the sound of his pain.

Spinell slowly approached his fallen axe, then walked to where Steady lay. Kneeling before his cowering opponent, Spinell whispered, "I heard you. You are the complete opposite of me. You were left alone in this cruel world." He sighed. "I don't know what you've experienced, but that doesn't give you the right to decide the world's fate. I must win to make this world a better place."

Suddenly, Steady stopped crying and looked at Spinell with his one remaining eye. "You're just an idealist. The world will never be a better place. Even if you create a new world, there will always be people who will pollute it! Only by destroying the world can it be saved!" He shouted and lunged at Spinell.

His death was horrific. Lightning consumed him as he cursed the world. His blood and tears were evaporated, his hair and flesh burned, and even his bones slowly turned to ash. Even in front of coming death he doesn't stopped cursing the world.

Unable to continue watching Steady's suffering any longer, Spinell ended it with one swift move of his axe, beheading him.

"Rest now. I hope you'll find peace in another world," he said, marking the end of the duel.

[Hanz]

"The battle between the two dwarfs is finally over! One sought to destroy the world, the other sought to save it. In this battle, the latter has won." With these words, Spinell was teleported from the arena.

Hanz looked at the Doom Master, who still sat emotionless, even after the brutal battle. Once again, Hanz promised himself that he would uncover the secret of the Historian.
