Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Walls of Change

The throne room, once a symbol of power and authority, was now a scene of chaos and confusion. The nobles, their faces etched with a mixture of fear and anger, were surrounded by a sea of soldiers. The Royal Army, led by Aaron, stood shoulder to shoulder with Duke Lucian's forces, their weapons gleaming in the dim light.

"You are all under arrest," Aaron declared, his voice ringing with authority. "You are charged with treason against the crown. You will be sent to prison."

The nobles, their eyes widening in disbelief, exchanged nervous glances. They had never imagined that Aaron would be so ruthless, so decisive. They had underestimated him, misjudged his resolve, and now they were paying the price.

"Prison?" Duke Aldric scoffed, his voice laced with a hint of defiance. "What is a prison?"

Aaron, his gaze fixed on Aldric, smiled coldly. "You'll find out soon enough," he said. "It's a place where you'll be kept safe, where you'll be given time to reflect on your actions, where you'll be given a chance to change."

The nobles, their faces contorted with anger and resentment, muttered amongst themselves. They had never heard of such a thing. Prison? What was this madness? They were nobles, they were powerful, they were above such things.

"We are nobles!" Duke Theodore shouted, his voice filled with indignation. "We are not criminals! We deserve to be treated with respect!"

Aaron, his eyes cold and unforgiving, shook his head. "You have forfeited your right to respect," he said, his voice filled with a sense of righteousness. "You have betrayed your kingdom, you have abused your power, you have oppressed your people. You deserve to be held accountable for your actions."

The nobles, their faces filled with a mixture of fear and fury, were escorted out of the throne room, their steps heavy and their hearts filled with a sense of betrayal. They had been defeated, their plans thwarted, their power stripped away. They were prisoners of their own greed, their own ambition, their own arrogance.

Flashback:

Two months before his coronation, Aaron had summoned Elias, the master builder, to his office.

"Elias," Aaron said, his voice filled with purpose, "I need you to build something. A prison."

Elias, his brow furrowed, looked at Aaron, his eyes filled with curiosity. "A prison, Your Majesty?" he asked. "What is a prison?"

Aaron, his gaze fixed on the horizon, smiled. "It's a place where we can keep criminals," he said. "A place where they can be punished for their crimes, where they can be rehabilitated, where they can be given a chance to change."

Elias, his eyes widening in surprise, shook his head. "Why would we do that?" he asked. "Just throw the criminals in the dungeon."

Aaron, his eyes gleaming with a sense of conviction, shook his head. "Dungeons are for monsters and beasts," he said. "Not for intelligent life forms. We want them to change, not to suffer."

Elias, his mind racing with possibilities, nodded. "So what would it look like, Your Majesty?" he asked.

Aaron, his eyes filled with a vision for a better kingdom, reached into his pocket and pulled out a blueprint. He handed it to Elias.

"This is what I envision," he said.

Elias, his eyes widening in amazement, studied the blueprint. It was a prison unlike any he had ever seen. It was a place of rehabilitation, not punishment. It was a place where criminals could learn, where they could work, where they could be given a second chance.

Elias, his heart filled with a sense of purpose, nodded. "I'll get started right away, Your Majesty," he said.

Elias and his team of builders worked tirelessly for a month, their hands moving with precision and their minds filled with a vision for a better future. They built a prison that was more than just a place of confinement. It was a place of hope, a place of change, a place where criminals could be transformed into productive members of society.
