Summary: A little cold is gonna kill us all
Professor Earworm looked over the class. "Today, we will try a lesson on harmonization." He explained, pulling up the board. "Now, can anyone tell me what that means?" A hand was raised. "Yes Skara?"
"To harmonize is to match notes together from multiple bards into a single melody and magnify the end result." The best student in the class answered flawlessly.
"Exactly. To perform harmonization, two or more individuals have to be perfectly in sync, not only matching the rhythm of their music, but the rhythm of each other, the beatings of their heart, the pattern of their breaths." They nodded. "Through this process, you maximize you spell's output and range, sometimes even creating a brand new spell that can only occur with those specific souls together."
"Is that why Lucci sets the town on fire whenever he doesn't team up with someone?" A student questioned.
"I don't set stuff on fire with music." Everyone turned to the boy, who despite the destructive nature, was the second best student in the class. "It's mostly just earthquakes."
"Correct…to an extent." From what they observed, likely due to the boy's crystal devil side, the magic didn't so much come from him, rather he manipulated it from the outside, similar to how the human did it with the paper magic. Although because bard magic responded to passion, and Lucifer always has a strong passion about music….that resulted in the chaos the boy was known for. "Thus for today's class, we will be splitting into pairs."
"But whoever has the human will be at a disadvantage." Another student complained. "They can't use bard magic, or play decently."
"Hey, I can play music, back me up Lucci." Noceda turned to her friend.
"...You sing….okay….ish." The boy spoke slowly. "But you've broken three guitars, smashed five violas, got your head stuck in a tuba twice, and you once got your tongue stuck in a saxophone."
"Small issues." The human waved off.
"Look, I know you want to learn all magic, and I support that … but can we all accept that Bard magic is not your thing?" Skara pleaded. "You haven't even discovered how to use glyphs for bard."
"Actually I have!" The girl layed down her paper magic on her desk. "Thanks to Philip's journal, I've learned how combo's work a whole lot better, and I've got a whole set that can set off vibrations." She took out her pencils. "I just gotta tap them like a drum." The girl began tapping them … which caused the desk to vibrate faster and faster. "... Hit the deck!"
BOOM
Before it exploded into splinters and metal. "...Tada…."
"Huh, usually it's Lucci causing the explosions in class." Another student said. "Does that mean we have to double down on the blast shields?
"Can't." Earworm spoke bluntly. "We still reserve most of them for the lunchroom and we don't have the budget for an expansion. Ms Noceda, until you can play an instrument, please do not focus on the magic aspect."
"Yes sir." She grumbled. "How did you get so good at playing, Lucci?"
"Don't know, I play by ear most of the time. Natural talent I guess." Lucifer shrugged.
"Maybe one of your bio parents was a musician." Skara suggested.
"If that was the case, then they were a disgrace to music." The boy shrugged. "Don't fret Luz. Next time we fight the golden tool, you can send him flying across the Isles by slapping that across his face….or you'll liquify his organs, both are good options to have."
"I'll take it." The human shrugged. "How about I strum a tune and see how it-" A black mist began pouring in from the vents. "Uhhh… this normal?"
"Very much not." Earworm affirmed. "Alright children, exit the hallways and make your way to the cafeteria."
"Ah…I'm not sure that's a safe option either." Skara pointed to the door window…where they could see the hallways fill with the same black mist.
"Okay people, heads inside the bubbles!" Lucifer shouted, creating a pink bubble for his head and handling one to every other student. "Made this for sleep spells, should work as a gas mask."
"What happens when we run out of air though?" A student asked as they placed the bubbles on them.
"How about we avoid dying immediately before we focus on anything else?" Luz returned.
========================================================================
Bump placed his hand on the intercom the moment he caught wind of the situation. "All students, please leave through the outside windows. There is unknown substance in the school." He'd investigate it himself, but not before the children were safe.
His door bursted open the moment he said that, scouts of the Emperor's coven, each one wearing a mask more suited for hazardous areas. "Not a good idea, effective immediately Hexide school is ground zero of deadly curse. No one is to leave the premises at any time."
"Under whose orders?" Bump was ready to fight. He didn't know what was going on, but he wasn't just about to hand over the responsibility of the student's well being to the Emperor's coven.
"That would be me." He watched as a familiar woman walked in.
"Hettie Cutburn … head of the Healing Coven." He glared. "To what do I owe this … unnaturally quick response?"
"I'm the head of the healing coven for a reason. I'm the fastest surgeon alive." She responded. "Here, I took one of your kidneys while we were talking." She plopped the organ on his desk.
"...."
"Relax, it wasn't actually one of your kidneys." She rescinded. "It was Steve's."
"Wait wha-" The Scout in question fell to the ground.
"... Oh right, I already pulled that trick on him." She muttered, the kidney disappearing suddenly. "You should be back up in two weeks."
"Staaaaaa….." The man weakly responded.
"Anyways, that's not important." Cuttbrun responded. "What is important is that no one, and I mean, no one in the school, student, faculty, demon, locker, is to exit this school at all. I already have my men blocking every window and door as we speak."
Bump raised an eyebrow. "You put Healers on the windows and doors, but keep the Coven Scouts inside?"
"We need to keep every doctor and healer we have as healthy as possible in order to combat this deadly outbreak. The scouts are here to make your more troublesomestudents don't get in the way." The woman responded quickly and sternly.
"Then wouldn't they, and by proxy, you be infected by this outbreak by staying inside?" Bump questioned.
"I'm here to get a closer look, putting my life on the line to get a cure out as quickly as possible." The woman nodded. "And these men have all done the same."
"Wait, we're putting our lives on the line?" A scout asked. "Aren't our numbers depleted enough? Any more and we'll have ten people left by the day of unity."
"Sacrifices must be made for the future." The women nodded solemnly, and Bump had seen Eda's face a hundred times to know when someone had the air of insincerity around them.
"Very well …" He pressed his intercom. "Attention teachers, the Healing Coven and Emperor's Coven have quarantined the school due to a dangerous curse. Direct the students as you should. " He told them, before turning it off. "I'll be in here if you need me."
"Good, because to limit your exposure, you are to be sealed in your office for the foreseeable future."
"Of course. Do you mind if Frewin is allowed to move, he gets cranky when confined and I'd rather not have him maul any Scouts or Healers."
"Kekekekeke." The imp on his head chuckled menacingly to emphasize the potential threat.
"Feel free, as long as he doesn't leave the school." Good, that meant Bump had eyes and ears outside the office.
========================================================================
"Hah, and they say getting detention is a bad thing." Viney laughed as she led her fellow healers into the old detention tunnels. "Good thing you two followed me, I don't think that black mist reached the hidden rooms yet."
"Yeah, lucky us." Emira nodded with a smirk.
"Wait, wouldn't that mean there's no ventilation?" Cat questioned.
"... That would explain the heat strokes we get sometimes." Viney admitted. That's why Barcus always brought along that ice cooler, he must've foresaw the exhaustion. "Either way, just be glad Bump hasn't destroyed these tunnels. Still can't leave the school but we're free to roam wherever we want now."
"And that does us … what?" Emira asked. "We can't open the doors because we'll be flooded with the black mist, and cursed air usually lasts a good day or two."
"It's better than getting bossed around by the scouts topside. They just bursted into the room without warning. Pretty sure they're spreading the curse even faster than it would normally." Cat responded. "So worse comes to worse, we can begin tunneling our way underground if it's incurable."
"Tunnel … oh, let's go grab Lucci, he's got drills." Viney grinned. And give her more time to convince him to make it a three way relationship, or break up with Boscha to be with her, either or she was cool with.
"And how do you propose we do that without letting the black air in?" Cat asked.
One of the doorways on the chalkboard began opening up, a pink clear glass like surface appearing. "Okay, worst time for a test fest, but this is probably our best option. Everyone into the tunnels!" Popping through the pink barrier, Luz, Gus, Amity, Willow, Boscha, and Lucci jumped right out, all of them having bubbles around their heads.
"CLOSE THE DOOR!" Cat shouted at them. "Don't let the mist in!"
"Relax, I put a barrier over it." Lucci waved off as he closed the door. "It only lets certain things through, so I let us through."
"Man, you are just the answer to every problem, aren't you?" Viney asked, leaning in closer to the boy along with Emira.
"Maya, it's snipping time." Boscha took out her Palisman, and the giant crab jumped on the two of them and immediately tried to cut their hands off.
"Jeeze, someone's angry." Emira smirked, before frowning. "But seriously Mittens, any symptoms?"
"No, I'm good. Before Lucci came in, I trapped some clean air in an abomination and stayed there." Amity explained.
"Same for one of my plants." Willow answered.
"And I was saved by this little guy." Gus pointed to some strange white pyramid floating over his head. "Created this box of light I was able to stay safe in."
"!%(#&@." It backed away from the doors, floating in a panicked state.
"Does the prism have claustrophobia?" Luz asked.
"No … I think they're scared because of the mist. It started going crazy and boxed me off as soon as it showed up." The illsuionist explained.
"Gus, you were in the illusion class, tell me…did it get Edric?" Emira asked, lines of stress clearly visible across her face.
"... Yeah." Gus sighed. "He started coughing, but I got dragged away by Luz before I saw anything else."
"Sorry, I got tunnel vision saving all my friends, didn't have time to save everyone else." The human admitted. "Would've brought Skara too, but she went off to look for Belfry."
"We can worry about the others once we get out of the danger zone." Boscha rolled her eyes. "So what now?"
"Lucci. You mind making that drill thing and going under the scouts to get us to safety?" Viney asked.
"No problem Viney." The boy grinned, making a pink drill. "One tunnel under our enemies coming right up."
"Uh, what's with the sparks?" Cat questioned.
"Sparks?" Lucci asked in confusion, noting the pink sparks emanating from his stomach. "What the …" He pulled off his shirt, showing the normal pink gem … accompanied by a black rust slowly overtaking it. "That's … new …"
"No…no…no, no, no!" Luz shouted. "Lucci, did you get infected!?"
"Luz don't be ridiculous." The boy rolled his eyes. "I don't get … *cough* I don't get … *cough cough*." The pink sparks began enveloping his body. "I don-*cough cough* sick-" He fell to the ground, holding a hand on his mouth. "Siiiick!- BLEEE!!!"
Lucci began to vomit … blood … a lot of blood … more than his body should even have, as the pink sparks seemed to intensify, his body warping and shifting, constantly going in and out of glowing pink like a lightbulb about to burst.
"Okay, he needs to get out of here, like right now!" Cat shouted.
"Not on your life! He has to hide, or else Cuttburn is going to rip him to shreds!" Boscha yelled.
"If he's sick he could infect us-"
Pop
The bubble on his head popped … the bubbles on everyone's heads popped …. "There's no room for arguments, we need to get him out now!" Cat reiterated.
"There has to be another…"
"The-acj…they're…right." Lucci coughed again, still constantly glowing in and out, heading towards the door. "I'll just…hide inside a locker-ack….until this thing blows over."
"What even is this?" Willow asked. "Lucci's taken organ damage and eats poison, how can something make him sick-"
"!($&@*#."
"... Unless it makes Crystal Devils sick." Gus concluded. "That's why the prism's freaking out. Whatever's out there can hurt it."
"It doesn't matter what it is, what matters is that we have to find out what this is and how to stop it." Luz pounded her fists. "I'll headout with Lucci and make sure he stays away from the scouts and Cuttburn. The rest of you try to stay safe."
"I'm coming too." Amity brought up, picking up the human's hands. "The two of you combined increases the trouble mangent tenfold. You need someone else to watch your backs, and like hell am I leaving you to fight a Coven head by yourself."
"Glad to … have ya-" Lucci began coughing even more, pulling up a hand with black rust growing on it. "Is this being sick … how do people live with it?"
"One agonizing second at a time." Willow sighed. "Welcome to normalcy, Lucci."
"Huh….it sucks…." The boy groaned before he forced himself out the door.
"Stay low guys, and…think healthy thoughts." Luz said, before her arm was grabbed by Boscha.
"Luz….protect my crystal….or I will kill you before this curse has a chance." The three eyed girl looked at Luz straight in the eyes. "Please."
"Trust me Boscha, he won't fade away on my watch." Viney would help to … as soon as they learned what they were dealing with.
"So while they're doing that." Viney looked at the blood on the ground the Lucci left behind. "Anyone got a microscope?"
========================================================================
Amity wrapped up the coughing boy in abomination muck. "Okay, so he won't infect us … doesn't stop the mist in the air." She felt slightly sluggish already.. "Are you feeling anything, Camote? Headache? Drowsiness? A need to throw up?"
"Nothing …" Luz looked around. "In fact I don't even smell anything wrong with the air. Do you think humans are immune?"
"That would be a remarkably good change of good luck for us." Amity admitted. "Lucci's half crystal devil, and their whole being is tied to their gems. I suppose the mist could be attacking the witch's bile sacks the same way they're attacking his rock."
"Hah, asystematic for the win." Her girlfriend grinned. "Now, take these glyphs." She handed her a few of them. "Blow up the wall, I'll go take on the scouts that will inevitably show up."
"Won't that risk the virus spreading outside?" Amity asked. "And then the whole isles would have to deal with a virus of unknown origin?"
"It's not like we're gonna get a curse in here when Cuttie has the perfect excuse to trap most of the people Belos wants dead in one building." Luz pointed out.
"... I am concerned at how quickly you came to that conclusion." Amity winced.
"Come on, I'm here, Lucci's here, this has a classic set up and trap vibe all over it, like in book four of Azura." Luz explained herself. "Azura is weakened and in her most vulnerable state on the eclipse, and the moment the villains learn of it, they all strike at once, pushing her into a corner she can't escape from."
"Right." Amity nodded. "Which was exploited when the moon goblins could walk out in broad daylight. Yeah, I see your point."
"Just bring him to Lilith. I know you hate each other, but she's the only witch on our side that has a chance at curing Lucci, and by extension the rest of the witches here." Luz gave her a pleading look. "She's been researching how to cure curses for years, something like this is definitely up her alley."
"Alright, but only because you asked." Amity kissed the girl on the cheek. "Just don't get killed while I'm gone."
"I can only promise so much." Luz began pulling out multiple glyphs. "Alright, time to rampage to my locker and grab the sword!" She kicked open the door, shutting it behind herself. "Hey Dorky Scouts! I'm running down the halls!"
"She's so cute when she's determined and naive." Amity blushed.
"Uggghg…glad…your…happy." Lucci gasped. "You're sure your…up for this? I know you…can't be…at a hundred perfect either."
True, keeping Lucci covered was taking a lot of her attention, and her head was starting to hurt. "I'm a lot better than you are. And when our biggest cannon is out of commission, we only have so many options." She placed the glyphs along the wall, tapping it as she stood back. "Alright, let it explode, then run like heck." She could do that.
"Heh…reminds…me of the time … Willow had…. common mold…" Lucci chuckled. "Even back then…you were …always looking out for us…never thanked you enough for that."
"No problem. It just makes sense helping a friend … and I'm sorry about the whole ten years of listening to my mom." She still couldn't go away without feeling some guilt.
"It's…it's alright. That's… that's on me for not knowing you….. were lying." The boy smirked. "You make …. Luz really happy… probably the sole reason … she hasn't completely broken down … you're amazing Amity."
She smiled as the glyphs began to glow brighter. "You too Lucci." She patted the boy's head. He managed to fix Boscha, something Amity thought was impossible. "My life wouldn't have been nearly as fun without you in it." She made to get a safe distance away. "And I swear no matter how long it takes, we are going to get a cure somehow. Because we're LAW, and we always do the impossible."
BOOM
The wall was utterly demolished. She lifted the boy with an abomination, running out the hole in the wall to freedom. The fresh air, the bright light of the sun, it was like she was feeling better alread-
Kaploop
A green vile flew over them and splashed in the hole, covering it up in a muck. "Nah uh, uh. That's not proper quarantine protocol." A familiar voice said from behind them. "If you wish to exit the premises, I believe your conditions should be examined by a professional."
"... Lucci?"
"Yes … Amity?"
"Please tell me you don't recognize that voice." She pleaded.
"For the past few minutes my ears have been ringing, so that's debatable." Lucci answered. "But the raspiness does narrow things down a little…Vitimir." They turned around and saw the masked man himself. "Got to say…didn't take you for the cruel vengeful type."
"Honestly I'd prefer to keep you alive … but Belos wants you as a corpse. So sadly, I must comply." Amity pulled up a barrier as another vile was thrown-ooowwww. She could feel her heart trying to kill her.
"We need to leave-" The wall melted as the Coven Head came closer.
"A shame. I guess I'll have to study you in pieces." They pulled out another vial.
"Amity, how well can you concentrate on your magic?" Lucci asked her.
"My head is about to split, so not very." She answered. "Simple commands are the best I can do right now.
"I'm gonna bubble your goo, you do that roll out trick, and we try to run as fast as we can." He whispered with a cough.
"Can you even form a bubble?"
"Do we have a choice?" He winced, his body flickering pink like a lightbulb. "Like you said… impossible is sort of what we do, so let's do it right now."
Amity looked back and forth. It wasn't like the situation could be worse, and they already pissed off Vitimir before. Him being more mad wouldn't make a difference. "Alight; let's make this as quick and painless as possible."
"Quick I can do, painless is pushing it a bit."
========================================================================
Lucci hated whenever he was carried, it made him feel like deadweight. "Come on, we have to go." Amity pleaded, abandoning his coating as she dragged him through the halls.
"The only upside to today so far was that we threw it at his dumb face." He grumbled as he tried to force his dumb legs to move. He should've been the one carrying Amity. He was supposed to be the strong one here!
"Haha you can't catch me!" Luz shouted as she came around a corner. "I'm breaking every rule in the boo-Amity!?" She shouted. "You're supposed to be outside!"
"Vitimir was here and stopped us, this whole thing is a set up like you said." Amity coughed. "Bet all the Blight fortune he's behind this virus as well."
"Why did I have to be right?" Luz grumbled. "Okay, I got my sword, I'll try holding him off while you guys find some other way to sneak out."
"No one is sneaking out." The voice of that woman , came from around the corner. "Scroll and crow communications have been cut, and my coven is right outside, preventing everyone from coming in or out of this school." The head of the healing coven made herself known, a sadistic smile showing off widely.
Lucci coughed up some more blood, which had a dangerous black tint to it that probably wasn't a good sign. "Listen … I know you hate me, but can we hold off whatever plot you have for-"
"You know, it always starts out with a loss of luster." The Coven Head suddenly stated.
"... What?" Luz looked lost.
"A special little concoction I made after working with Vitimir." She went on. "It's always irritation and a lack of luster in the gem." … The fuck? "And then it moves onto a special black rust coating. I'm sure you'd see it if you lifted up your shirt." No … "And after a complete covering, the Devil's form begins to malfunction. We have different theories. Vitimir think it's a complete physiological breakdown, I think they just go fucking insane and loose their minds. Please let me know if it's the later so I can enjoy it."
"You … you …" She … she caused this.
"And right here." She pulled out a photo. "Is my memory of the event in question, and the only hope you have for a cure …" Cutburn set it ablaze with a malicious grin. "... Whoopsie."
"You psychopathic bastard, you're supposed to be a doctor! Yet you made the whole school sick!" Luz accused.
"The proper term would be sociopath, because psychopathic means I have a shred of empathy for any of you brats." Cuttie explained coldly. "Now? I don't care if the entire Isles burns down as long as you die … although it looks like the human is immune." She noted. "Should I kill you now so you can join your doomed friends?"
"You're not going to hurt any-ACK!" He coughed up more blood and clenched his stomach.
"Ooooh, I should tell you that I made this curse specially to drain your powers. The more you try to use them, the faster it's going to spread." Cuttie snickered. "But I suppose you're too stupid to comprehend such a thing if you've spent this long pissing me off-"
Luz pressed a glyph to the ground, launching herself at the Coven Head and slicing her arm off, before placing a glyph on the back of the woman's skull, setting it ablaze. "RUN!" She shouted, constantly stabbing the regenerating woman.
"Okay, now I'm hallucinating. Luz can't be this violent." Lucci muttered.
"Wow, we must be really sick then, we're sharing the same hallucination." Amity nodded. "Hey, does the air taste gray to you. It's black mist, so it's weird it tastes gray."
"Nah, I get more of an existential dread rather than a color scheme."
"WHAT PART OF RUN AREN'T YOU COMPREHENDING!?" Luz shouted, freezing the cut up parts in multiple blocks of ice, before electrifying them.
"Sorry, the brain's not exactly leaving the station right now." Amity coughed
Luz grimaced, before a fleshy hand grabbed her throat. "Congratulations." Cuttie spoke as her mouth reformed. "You have officially … pissed me off."
"Then your really not going to like me!" An entire tree shot itself through the coven head's chest, and split her off.
"Willow!" Luz shouted, rubbing her throat. "Thank titan, I did not feel confident at all fighting that woman.
"Don't thank me yet." Willow coughed. "She's survived worse and I'm all downhill from here." She looked at them. "You two get back to the tunnels, I'll help Luz from here."
"Won't we spread the curse.." Lucci asked
"Gus's prism is doing the best they can to provide protection. Don't know how long it's going to last though." Willow explained. "But if you're unable to escape the school, the tunnels the only option you have for safety."
Amity coughed. "Luz, shove Lucci through them."
"You need to rest too."
"Oooh, what fine tests to be had today!"
"Do you and Willow feel like taking on two Coven Heads by yourself?" Amity asked, then turning to him. "You heard cuttburn, this is made to kill you. If you can't recover, then we stand absolutely no chance. This at least buys us more time."
Why did he have to be so worthless today? "Alright, but only for a minute. Once I'm rested I'm coming back out." He wasn't going to stay down … gah, pain was flaring up again.
========================================================================
Emira sat with the other girls, playing hex sweeper on their scrolls. "Go for that spot there." Viney suggested.
"There's already a one and a two, isn't that risky?" Normally she played with her brother, but that wasn't really an option at the moment, being that he was probably in the middle of dying right now. This was the only thing that could calm her nerves without focusing on how batshit terrible this whole situation was.
"You're already hitting a bomb on this side, so it's less likely to explode." Cat pointed out.
"Why are you all standing around here doing nothing!?" Boscha shouted, fire in her eyes.
"Because there's nothing to do." Cat deadpanned. "No plays to make, Ex Captain."
"We can look at Lucci's blood all we want, but we still don't have a basic understanding on how the curse works." Viney explained in a less rude tone "The only way to comprehend a curse is to study the corpse of someone who was infected by it, and I take it no student is keen on dying for the cause of the amazing Manticore Menace." Emira had a feeling Viney might've been willing to volunteer.
"So what you're saying is that I should kill one of you to speed up the process." The grudgby captain lit her hands up
"The studying process takes a full month." Cat interrupted. "Our best bet is to wait on someone to recognize what the type of curse is, and deal with it from there."
The door was kicked open. "Hettie Cutburn and Vitirmir created the curse and burned away their own memories on it!" Round ears shouted.
"... You see." Emira nodded. "Now I can say with absolute conviction that there's no hope." She stood up. "I'm going to go spend my last minutes with my siblings."
"Wait, you said Vitimir was involved?" Boscha raised an eyebrow. "If he is…then he wouldn't burn his memories. He's too stubborn and obsessed with fact finding to let it go."
"Okay, so we just need to jump into Vitimir's mind and find the cure." Luz nodded. "You all take care of Lucci, I'll get someone else on it."
"GAA!" Pink sparks emanated from the boy as more black rust grew on his body. "ACCK Gah … this … sucks."
"Lucci!" The three eyed girl approached, grabbing ahold of the boy. "What's happening?!"
"Cuttie…. said she made this… to zap away my powers… she's gone completely off the deep end." He coughed more blood. "She's killing everyone in the school… just so that I don't have a chance of surviving."
"Okay … okay." Cat took a deep breath. "Luz, whatever construction magic you learned, use it to make a couple of masks for the three of us. We need to stay uninfected if we're going to try this. Viney, once she gives you a mask, go to the healing room and get all the equipment you can. Emira, stay with patient zero and comfort him while he slips in and out of unconsciousness. Boscha, go out there and try to kill those Coven Heads."
"I'll do more than that, I'm gonna rip those memories out of Vitimir's head and burn the rest to ash." Boscha growled. "Goops, I'm gonna need you for this. You and I are gonna grab Moon girl and torture the bastard."
"Please tell me Cherry at leasts knows my name." The boy grumbled as he followed.
"On the plus side, she's asking for your help." Luz pointed out before the door shut.
"Oh, and one more thing, Blight, Hook ear girl." Boscha pointed to her. "Touch my boyfriend in any weird way, and I'm tearing off all your limbs and shoving them down your throat." The door was slammed shut as she left.
Hm, she was half expecting to die today, should she take advantage of that...eh, play by ear and see what happens naturally. "Well, what are we waiting for? We're not going to die any slower by doing nothing." Emira said out loud.
Luz handed over Lucci-wow he was heavy when he was barely conscious-and slammed a glyph on the ground, creating three masks. "For you, you, and you." She handed them out, before running out the door. "I'm coming for ya Cuttie!"
"That girl has a death wish….heck, this entire group has a death wish." Cat grumbled.
"I know, it's exciting." Viney laughed. "Be well, Lord Calamity, I shall return!"
"Aren't you mister popular today?" She laughed as the boy slumped on top of Emeria's lap. "Take it easy curly top, don't break yourself so early."
"Heh…you say that like you….actually care." Lucci grumbled, a dazed look in his eyes as he weakly looked up at her. "Heh… forgot you could look cute….when you're not being….a jerk."
"I do my best, Curly top." She rubbed his head. "Just get comfortable and don't think about dying."
"I never do …" It was like petting a really sick kitty. All in all, not the worst thing to do when death was on the door.
