"So, just take it." After a careful checking, Stephan Korade passed the bracelet back to Sheena, who was widely opening her eyes due to the shock.
"Don't you understand it's not reasonable for me to accept this gift? Please take it back and return to your grandpa Alex." Sheena yelled in a lowered-down voice. "Otherwise, you can keep it until your true love shows up."
When saying this, Sheena was quite serious. After all, she knew the bad ending between them and there shall be the destined one to inherit both the marriage and the wedding gift.
However, Stephan cocked his nose and smiled, "Since Grandpa Alex has given it to you, you can just take it. Whatever you do to it is up to you."
Although Sheena had tried to figure out the real meaning that Stephan had implied, she failed in getting the answer from his face. However, it's obvious that Stephan didn't want to tangle with her in this topic.
"Next time you can bring your luggage to come here. It's more convenient for you to live here in the future." Stephan picked a bottle of mineral water of a brand that Sheena could tell and drank, "if you want to buy new sets, it's okay for me. Here is the credit card, just spend as you like."
When saying this, Stephan brought out a bank card from his wallet, claiming that's a gift for the daughter-in-law of their family. Looking at the credit card that's obviously different from those credit cards that she had witnessed in card registration back in the campus.
"Credit card?" Sheena looked up when sitting on the sofa and hearing this.
Stephan explained, "it's given by my mother, she said you can use it as you like, the rest will be handled by the assigned person. You don't need to worry about the payment." Stephan said in a natural tone that Sheena even couldn't find out the weird part.
However, after a while of calming down, Sheena smiled and replied, "Thank you very much. But Stephan, you should know my decision. "
Such an reply seemed to not surprise Stephan Korade, who seemed to have guessed the answer of Sheena right, so he shrugged his shoulders and said, "I've brought the words, obey it or not, it depends on you."
Sheena nodded her head and didn't want to continue this topic.
Right at this moment, the cellphone rang, and Sheena picked it up. It's the call from the superior Jeremy Hill.
"Sheena, are you free now? I've had an urgent task here for you." The anxiety had crawled to Sheena through the line.
Sheena inquired curiously, "what has happened?"
"An urgent task from the old client. It's required to finish within these two days and be submitted in the day after tomorrow."
"How many characters?" Sheena asked as usual.
Jeremy Hill smiled on the other side of the call, "it will be just a piece of cake for you. 10,000 words, and it will just take you a full day in translating it. As long as you agree on the translation, I'll arrange employee to handle the rest." Jeremy Hill tried to belittle the difficulty of the task, afraid of the refusing of Sheena.
In the usual time, when facing such an urgent time, Sheena would calculate clearly about the spending time, the task difficulty in accordance with the principle of finishing the job perfectly and minimizing the flaws as much as possible, so when receiving such an urgent case she would think it thorough before accepting the task. However, after what her father had done and thinking of her need of money, she would have no choice but accept the task.
"Okay." Sheena nodded her head as an agreement, even though Jeremy Hill wouldn't be able to see.
Jeremy had burst into relief right after Sheena agreed on accepting this task and hanged up on the phone for tasks allocation.
When Sheena was picking up the phone, Stephan Korade didn't leave but just sat there watching her conversation.
So when Sheena finished the call, Stephan stared at Sheena with an amazed face, "you haven't graduated, right? Why are you doing so many part-time jobs?"
Looking at the serious face of Stephan Korade, Sheena knew Stephan wasn't asking it for fun or mocking but really meant it. Stephan Korade must have not been able to understand her hardworking for money at such a term.
"I need money," Sheena laughed, without any embarrassments, "Is not that hard to understand, isn't it?"
Stephan Korade turned to Sheena with frowning eyebrows, he pointed at the credit card still on the tea table, "that's the credit card, I've claimed it belongs to you, right?"
Stephan Korade couldn't understand why she refused this credit card as a wedding gift but accepted a task demanding efforts before getting the money. Isn't it good to get something wanted without any cost?
Obviously catching the confusion in the eyes of Stephan Korade, Sheena smiled slightly and didn't try to explain.
For someone in the other living level, it's quite hard to make him to fully understand her choice or deeds.
"Thank you for your family's kindness anyway." Sheena stood up.
If there wasn't anything else, she need to go back home for the job. As for the moving-in, she may achieve it when she was free. Before the job in the Star Bar, there were several hours left for doing the translation.
Seeing the movement of Sheena, Stephan Korade stood up to stop her, "Hold on for a second"
From the serious face, Sheena could sense Stephan Korade was going to talk business.
"Please tell your mother or grandfather that, let's hold a joint dinner party for our marriage, although we couldn't hold the wedding party at such a moment, but Grandpa Alex wants to have an official dinner together between our family members or relatives first."
Stephan Korade seemed to not bear any antipathies towards this case.
However, for Sheena, what she feared the most was such a gathering between two families. Because it's all for etiquette that such a marriage like hers wouldn't deserve such a treatment.
What's more, when thinking of the words that her father Evan Hathaway had claimed, Sheena was really hesitate to push such a dinner's holding.
However, what Sheena worried wasn't able to be sensed by Stephan Korade. Although he knew the status and position of the marriage, he wouldn't take this too seriously. After all, as long as it's asked by his grandpa Alex, Stephan Korade wouldn't reject too violently.
"Could we just skip it?" Sheena was still trying to stop the gathering's happening.
Seeing the innocent eyes sparkling with fear and hesitation, Stephan Korade burst into laughter. "Come on, Sheena, we've married, isn't it normal to gather together for a dinner between the two families?"
"Yep, I know we're married, but could we..." Sheena sighed and tried to persuade.
However, it's deemed her expectation would be in vain.
"Since you know it, please stop such useless fights." Stephan Korade was a little bit impatient, "it's just a dinner, it wouldn't cost you anything!" His tone had released his anger.
Sheena looked up at Stephan Korade and whined in a lower voice, "but it will cost you something."
Sheena couldn't guarantee she could stop Evan Hathaway's asking for cash gift for the marriage. If so, she would really be doomed. After Stephan's family had helped them out of the trouble of lack of money for Grandpa Bryant's hospitalization, Sheena couldn't bear her own father could be so shameless and greedy to even ask for cash gift for the marriage. What's worse, even though she knew this was wrong, she didn't have the confidence in stopping her own father.
What's more, Sheena could guess that her "mother" Lena Lim would help her father to "beg" for that money. Because her sister Cherry Hathaway was in the urgent need for money at such a moment when she was not capable in making money but needing money to cover the expenditures in the campus. As a parent spoiling her girl in growing up, Lena Lim would try all means to get such money, especially when such money wouldn't cost them anything.
"Okay? Remember to discuss with your parents or grandpa, then come back to me with the answer." Stephan held the door, at which Sheena was going to leave as if running away from a scaring question.
"Fine, I'll." Sheena had to agree firstly. If she couldn't stop it, she might be able to persuade Grandpa Bryant to stop it.
Bearing such a thought, Sheena nodded her head and left.
Sheena had returned back home for the job assigned by Jeremy Hill before going to the bar.
It's quite lucky that even in such a spiritual status, Sheena had finished one third of the task in those hours.
"You're finally here." Mike passed a cup of soda to Sheena while she was sitting in the front of the mirror for makeup.
"Tell you what," Mike just continued as a robot saying without demanding the responses of the host, "that man had come again."
