"Little Bookworm, nice to see you out of the campus." Stephan smiled carelessly and casually, still acting like a playboy back in the class.
Sharing the major as Commerce and Trading, Sheena knew Stephan was in the same class, however, right before today they were strangers totally due to different life course.
Stephan was good at everything except studying while Sheena was good at nothing but studying.
"Nic...Nice to meet you." Sheena couldn't say more except such etiquette words, after all they were not that familiar with each other that could chat casually.
"Hey, why are you so shy, from now on, you will be my wife, we need to get along well with each other." Stephan standing there leaning against the door, staring quite straight at Sheena.
"Hey, I don't quite understand, " Sheena returned back to him with frown eyebrows, "why don't you reject this marriage?"
Stephan was stunning for a second, but soon his thin lips curved into a faint smile and he was looking back at Sheena with a strange smile.
"You're so stubborn." Stephan finally signed.
"Don't you think you should marry a girl that you truly love?" Sheena ignored Stephan's satire and the devil-may-care attitude.
However, facing the inquiry face of Sheena, Stephan didn't answer back but just stood there silence and still.
"Stephan, how about you refusing the marriage registration? If So, I will definitely agree with you, so..." Sheena tried to offer the solution.
Right before Stephan answered with anything, Sheena's mother came back with a notice, "Stephan, it's our turn, go to No. 7 Counter, you two could sign up there."
Yes, Sheena's mother Lena Lim had come along and accompanied them to register for marriage in the name of guidance as an experienced hand. However, deep down in heart, Sheena knew she was just coming to ensure the married result for the ones back home.
"Come on, let's go." Lena was surprised that Sheena just stood there quite as still as a iron man. In fact, Sheena was still expecting Stephan Korade would say something on this marriage.
However, Stephan didn't say anything but finally answered Sheena's inquiry with a smile, "Mother-in-law, thank you very much for the notice. Of course we'll go, let's go, Sheena. " Right before Sheena took any further steps, Stephan held Sheena's shoulders tightly and forced her to walk towards the counter.
"Ur..." Sheena witnessed the obedience and changes of Stephan, she knew she couldn't rely on him to fight against this marriage decision, so she tried her best to stop and got rid of the catching of Stephan.
She just rolled her eyes at Stephan and turned back to seek help from her mother.
"Mother, my dear mother, couldn't you just help me to get rid of all of these?" Sheena didn't say it quite straightforwardly, but she knew her mother would know her meaning easily.
As expected, Lena caught her meaning right away, but she was stunned just for a second and shook her head immediately and silently.
"Shh, no way." Lena waved with the index finger as a rejection.
"Hey, would you go or not? Don't waste our time." Stephan turned back and looked at her and her mother Lena, without catching the sight of the index finger waving. Lena was quite flexible that she acted as normal and nice in front of Stephan.
Sheena was quite speechless. None of the three of them could say No to this decision.
The decision of their grandfathers.
Although what they had done all disappointed her, the most disappointing thing she felt about was she herself couldn't stand up to reject this marriage, which was the last will of her grandfather Bryant Hathaway.
Yes, it was the advice of her grandfather to marry Stephan Korade, whose grandfather Alex Korade was the best friend and comrade-in-arms of Bryant Hathaway.
It's heard that they used to fight against in the battlefield and Bryant Hathaway had saved Alex from the hands of the enemy, so they made a deal that their grandchild would marry to each other if possible.
Nobody would expect such a promise in the battlefield would come true until Bryant was suffering from the terminal stage of gastric cancer. It was the first time for Sheena to meet Alex, but it's also the critical moment for her to know the fact that a long-term of separation didn't stop the coming-true of promise.
"It's fulfilling your last wish, and also my keeping promise. " Alex Korade said in a warm smile, ignoring the shocks of the people on site.
"No way..." Sheena stood up and tried to stop the happening of this joke, "how could you agree without asking for my opinion?"
When Alex had left the inpatient ward, Sheena tried to convince her grandfather and not interrupt her marriage like this. She didn't know this boy at all and how could she marry to him after the first meeting in the inpatient visiting?
"I didn't know him at all, why are you asking me to marry him?" Sheena held grandfather Bryant's hand tight, saying this in a tender voice.
Right behind her were her mother and sister, her father didn't show up even grandfather had been hospitalized for a week.
"Sheena, I know... it's quite hard... for you to accept this marriage, " Bryant Hathaway seemed to be trying his best to make this clear for Sheena. "However, with a father like that, and facing the advice of Alex, I think this is the best arrangement that I could give you."
"A father like that..." reminds the hatred deep in the head of Sheena. Although Sheena had never thought of relying on anyone, she couldn't help complaining why she had to have a father obsessed with drugs and gambling.
"Sheena, don't complain your father too much, it's all my fault, if not for my leaving to the battlefield and forcing my dear wife working from day to night, she wouldn't have died for tiredness, so Evan wouldn't have to struggle in the society at such an early age, and he wouldn't have...."
Grandfather couldn't continue because of his coughing. Sheena stood up and tried to knead his back, helping him to calm down.
"Father-in-law, please don't say too may words, " Lena Lim came up and helped to knead him instead of Sheena, waving her hand to give a hint of asking Sheena to stop the topic.
"Since it's the best arrangement that you made, we would just follow and fulfill your wish, right, Sheena?" Lena winked to Sheena, asking her to nod her head.
"Grandpa..." Sheena still wanted to say something but was stopped by her younger sister Vicky Hathaway who shook her head in secrecy.
"Older Sister, don't you know the Bee Group? It belonged to Alex Korade, the one you just met and left right in front of us." Vicky said with a pair of sparkling eyes. The last expression that Sheena had seen on the face of Vicky was when they received the golden necklaces that Grandpa had given them as the birthday gifts when they were 18 years old.
"I don't care what they have owned, I just care about my life, my prospect..." Sheena ignored the jealousness inside Vicky's eyes and confessed with her own voice.
"Let alone what you care, just fulfill your grandpa's last wish..." Lena said in a poker face, rolling her eyes on her. Lena didn't pretend but just forced her to obey this arrangement.
"No way, it's my life, I'll decide whom I marry to!" Sheena still wanted to argue, but being refused by her mother's action, "go back to sleep and think well, don't stimulate your grandpa to die, you couldn't afford it."
Before Sheena said anything, Vicky pulled her out of the inpatient ward.
Sheena could reject at all force at anything anytime except this moment, when this was the last wish of her grandpa and the forced order of her mother.
That's why they stood here to register for marriage now.
It didn't take long for them to complete the procedures, half an hour later they stood out of the Civil Affairs Bureau and became a registered couple.
