The city guard barracks in Somnalis was a modest but well-maintained building located near the town's heart. Flags bearing the Aldryn family crest fluttered gently in the breeze above the entrance, and clashing steel echoed from the nearby training yard.
Sol approached the building and to his surprise, the captain of the city guard, Arlen Vyrth, stood waiting at the door. He was a tall man with a broad build. A thick scar ran from his temple to his jaw, and his face was stern but not unfriendly as he extended a hand toward Sol.
"Master Sol," Arlen greeted, his voice deep and steady. "An honor to have you here. Lady Eyrnn spoke highly of you."
Sol was originally going to ask how Arlen predicted his arrival, but when he heard Lady Erynn's name, he could only roll his eyes. This woman was truly an amateur when it came to mind games, and that would be the downfall of the Dreamwalker.
Sol shook his hand firmly, a faint smile on his lips.
