For the rest of the week, Sol dedicated himself to understanding the academy system and understanding the best way to acquire the empire's resources.
While mages were rare, the empire was still reluctant to waste resources nurturing mages with less potential, so a ranking system was put in place.
From the recruitment exams, the ranks of students will be determined and will be subsequently adjusted as time goes on. The higher one's rank, the more resources are made available to him/her, that way the strong will reach their full potential and the weak will be motivated to be strong.
The top ten students are called Pillars and are considered the future of the Empire. Regardless of background, once someone secures a spot amongst the ten, they are treated completely differently, almost like royalty.
