Chapter 20 - Intercepting Luna

Following the Magus's warning, the guards looked back and noticed two horse-sized wolves chasing after them. On one were Michael and Lara Hail, and on the other was a youth they had never seen before.

"The Hails!" The Magus frowned deeply as he stuck his head out of the window and recognized their pursuers.

"I guess you were right. They waited this long just for the right moment." Luna chuckled lightly.

She didn't seem bothered by the appearance of the Hail family.

"What exactly were they looking for? Getting their hands on the supplies we plan to take won't necessarily mean anything." The young Magus was confused.

So what if the forbidden palace ordered a large supply of Somnara Blossom flowers?

It was a plant used by alchemists, and it wasn't illegal. Their efforts tonight were as good as useless because they proved nothing.

Luna smiled seductively and reached inside the hoodie, caressing the face of the Magus gently.

"My young charming Magus. What they are after is not our supplies but me." Luna said, her face so close to that of the Magus that he could feel her breath brush against his face.

The magus's eyes widened in shock as he realized the truth. Why would they bother about a few sedative plants when they can take a fox spirit back to the capital and prove that the forbidden palace was hiding supernatural beings?

"I won't let them take you away, I swear!" The young magus gently grabbed Luna's hands while he spoke.

They both looked deep into each other's eyes lovingly.

"I believe you… My life is in your hands, my love." Luna responded with a gentle peck on the lips.

Luna leaned back as the young magus prepared to protect her with his life. The young man was a novice magus of a peasant background but impressive talent.

With his yellow core, the man was bound to reach the level of Arcanist for sure. With such potential, Luna decided it was best to seduce him now and make him her loyal pawn now he was still young and naive.

"Winds of the hidden skies, veil the land with misty guise…" The young magus began his chant, causing his eyes to release a gray light.

"Shroud the world in phantom air, let none see what lies there…"

Tier 1 Wind Magic: Veil of the Mist!

…..

Damon's gaze narrowed as he sensed the surrounding mana flow into the carriage in the distance.

"They have a Magus with them!" Damon warned as he noticed the fog seeping into the path, slowly blocking their vision of their targets.

"We already have their scent, it's impossible to escape us now." Michael shrugged indifferently. It was a tad too late for the enemy to try covering up their tracks now.

Thud!

Before Damon could make a move, Michael jumped high into the air.

Huff!

The sound of Michael inhaling loudly filled the air as he let out an inhuman roar!

Werewolf's Roar!

Roarrrrr!

As if in response to his roar, the cries of numerous horses could be heard. Damon could hear the guards cursing while struggling to regain control of their terrified horses.

Bang!

The frenzied horses rammed into each other, knocking themselves over.

"Zeph!" Damon's eyes revealed a gray light as the wind flow strengthened, slowly pushing away the fog.

As the fog was slowly pushed away, the figures of ten guards blocking a fallen carriage with their swords drawn were revealed. The trio's gaze automatically shifted to the hooded figure helping the silver-haired lady out of the carriage.

The hooded figure and the lady glanced in the direction of the Hail family before

"There!" Michael's gaze turned murderous.

Bang!

Michael sprang forward like a rocket, but two guards intercepted him with their shields raised.

Peng!

The guards staggered back due to the sheer force of the collision but they had successfully stopped Michael's charge!

Swish!

Two more guards swooped in stabbing forward with their spears, however, a single swipe from Slaughter shattered the spears. Meanwhile, Danger sped past the guards, shooting into the forest with Damon on its back.

"He will keep track of the fox while we find a way to deal with these guards without killing them. We don't want to cause more friction with noble families from other regions." Lara said as she walked up to Michael's side.

These guards were all from different noble families. Killing them was the fastest way of gaining the resentment of another noble family. This was something they were trying to avoid, that was why Michael was holding back.

"Do you trust him?" Michael watched Damon's figure vanish into the trees.

"Not really… I'm only allowing him to earn it." Lara shook her head.

...

Riding a wolf in the thick forest turned out to be more advantageous than Damon expected. Just a few minutes after he entered the forest, he had his targets in his sight.

"One of them got past the guards!" The hooded magus frowned upon seeing Damon on the wolf.

"If he's alone, we can kill him!" Luna's eyes revealed a threatening purple flash.

The Magus frowned, unsure if it was a wise idea to deal with Damon. The Hail family were probably held up by the guards, but they won't last long.

On the other hand, leaving Damon alive meant their movement was constantly being tracked, they were bound to be caught.

"Very well!" The Magus frowned.

Thud!

Luna and the Magus turned to face Damon's approaching figure. Seated on the wolf, Damon revealed an amused smile. He may be weak, but that doesn't mean a novice magus and little fox spirit could bully him.
