Chapter 7 - Secrets of the Ancients

Shivay stood at the center of the ancient library, his eyes scanning the massive shelves filled with crumbling tomes and faded scrolls. The overwhelming amount of information seemed to stretch on forever, and yet, there was something else drawing his attention—something more than just the books. The ether that now flowed within him resonated with the energy still lingering in the air, as if the very walls of the temple were alive with ancient knowledge.

"Shunaya, do you think there's any record here about the ancients or this bloodline mutation?" Shivay asked, stepping cautiously around the scattered relics.

"The ancients were highly advanced, Master," Shunaya replied, her tone thoughtful. "If they left behind something like that core, it's possible they also documented their research. We just need to find the right information."

Shivay reached for one of the nearest scrolls. As he unfurled it, strange symbols and glyphs covered the page. He squinted, trying to make sense of it, but the writing was unlike anything he had ever seen.

"What are these glyphs?" Shivay muttered, running a finger over the delicate etchings. The symbols seemed to glow faintly in response to his touch, a shimmer of ether trailing along the lines of the script.

Shunaya's voice broke through his thoughts. "Master, these are ancient glyphs, a form of language used by the Nagas, the ancient race that built this temple. The Nagas were masters of etheric manipulation, and these glyphs are tied directly to their control over ether. If we can decipher them, they could hold the key to understanding not only this temple but also your new abilities."

Shivay's interest piqued. "Nagas? I've never heard of them."

"Very little is known about the Nagas in modern times," Shunaya explained. "They were a powerful civilization, capable of manipulating ether in ways that even today's scholars can't comprehend. Their mastery of ether allowed them to create extraordinary artifacts, beings, and structures—many of which are still hidden or forgotten, like this temple. The Nagas vanished long ago, but their influence lingers."

Shivay scanned the rows of tomes and scrolls, each more ancient than the last. "Do you think there's something here that explains my new bloodline? The mutation caused by that core… it's not something random, is it?"

"No, Master," Shunaya responded, her voice thoughtful. "The mutation was triggered by the core, but it's possible that the Nagas planned for something like this. If we can find more information on their work with ether and these ancient hearts, we may uncover the reason for your transformation."

Determined to find answers, Shivay moved deeper into the archives. As he explored the dimly lit room, his eyes landed on a massive tome, larger than the others. Its cover was adorned with the same strange glyphs, but something about this one called to him. He pulled the book down from the shelf, its weight heavy in his hands, and carefully opened it.

The pages inside were filled with more of the glowing glyphs, but unlike before, something had changed. Shivay could feel the ether resonating with the symbols, as if the book itself was alive, waiting for him to unlock its secrets.

"I need to learn how to read this," Shivay said, turning the pages slowly. "Shunaya, can you help me understand these glyphs?"

"Yes, Master," Shunaya replied. "I can guide you through the basics. The glyphs are tied to ether flow. As you channel your ether through the glyphs, their meanings will become clearer. Focus on the energy within you, and let it connect with the symbols."

Shivay nodded and closed his eyes, allowing himself to sink into the strange rhythm of the ether coursing through his veins. He let the energy flow outward, extending from his body toward the glyphs on the page. As the ether touched the symbols, they began to shift and shimmer, their meanings slowly unraveling in his mind.

At first, the process was overwhelming. The glyphs seemed to pulse with hidden knowledge, their intricate lines revealing deeper layers of meaning that Shivay struggled to grasp. But with Shunaya's guidance, he gradually learned to control the flow of ether, matching its movements to the patterns in the glyphs.

Hours passed as Shivay continued to study, the ancient language of the Nagas slowly becoming clearer. The more he learned, the more he realized just how vast their understanding of ether truly was. They had developed entire systems of glyphs, each representing different aspects of etheric manipulation—control over elements, creation of life, and even the fusion of bloodlines.

As Shivay turned another page, his eyes widened. There, scrawled across the worn parchment, was a map. The glyphs surrounding the map seemed to describe five different locations, each marked with a symbol similar to the heart he had just absorbed.

"Shunaya, look at this," Shivay whispered, tracing his finger along the map. "These locations… they must be connected to the core I found."

"Yes, Master," Shunaya said, her voice filled with excitement. "These locations likely house the hearts of other ancient creatures, similar to the one you absorbed. The Nagas must have hidden them in different parts of the world."

Shivay's mind raced. "If there are more of these hearts, does that mean I can unlock even more power?"

"It's possible," Shunaya replied. "Each heart could trigger a new mutation, unlocking additional abilities or further enhancing your bloodline. But be warned, Master—each heart will likely be guarded by powerful creatures, just as the first one was."

Shivay stared at the map, his heart pounding with anticipation. The prospect of finding more hearts, of unlocking even more power, was both thrilling and dangerous. But more than that, there was something else driving him—the desire to understand what he had become, and why the Nagas had left these powerful artifacts behind.

Just as Shivay was about to close the tome, a new notification appeared in his mind.

Shivay's breath caught in his throat. A main quest. This was no longer just a personal journey—his fate was now tied to the mysterious legacy of the Nagas.

"Looks like I've got my next mission," Shivay said, closing the tome with a satisfied grin.

"Master, this will be dangerous," Shunaya warned. "The hearts are not only powerful but also highly sought after. Others may come after them once their existence is revealed. You must be prepared for anything."

Shivay nodded, feeling the weight of his new quest settle on his shoulders. "I know. But if I can learn more about my bloodline—and about the Nagas—it'll be worth it."

With the ancient map in hand and the weight of the new quest looming over him, Shivay prepared himself for the journey ahead. The temple had given him a glimpse into the world of the Nagas and their incredible power, but there was so much more to uncover. He had only scratched the surface of the ancient civilization's secrets, and he was determined to dig deeper.

For now, though, there was one undeniable truth: Shivay's journey had only just begun.
