Chapter 8 - Intimacy

The breeze was comfortable. All Ano wanted was to stay there for hours, but he was hungry. He suggested to the group stopping by, resting definitely and avoiding any conflict, they agreed.

Mehel was accompanying them this time. He was old but had an imposing figure, which Orm respected. "He must have trained a lot to stay in shape at this age, poor humans… so young yet so fragile." Said him to Anny.

"How old are you exactly? You don't look over 30."

"I'm 320."

Anny was shocked by this revelation, but Ano already knew this was eventually going to happen, so he didn't intervene. The not so young men and the kids found a tiny inn by a roadside, called Thousandth Inn. The person at the counter was an old lady, probably in her 80s, she had a gentle face and a classical attire, but also did not seem naive.

They asked for two rooms with two beds each, one for the knights and other for the kids. "Hope they control themselves, young love is quite wild sometimes isn't it my friend?" asked Mehel to Orm.

"I was pretty tamed in my hundreds…"

The old man just looked at Orm lost for words. They went to their room and rested.

Back in the hall, the kids drank some coffee that the old lady offered to them, and chatted about random interests like painting and music. An hour went by and the kids got bored. They went up the small set of wooden stairs and got into the third room. Ano got a bit frustrated about the separate beds, but then suggested they play some games, as he had brought a card set with him from Orhim.

They played the cards for hours, but eventually felt like doing something else. So both of them laid in the bed next to the window, but made sure it was close. What did they do after?

That does not need description. They had a good time.

The young nobles were not the most religious, so what they did that night did not weigh on their consciousness, but they made sure they would never tell what happened that night to their fanactical parents.

That night they decided to marry each other. They ended up sleeping in the same bed, with both their long hairs intertwined as one. "What a strange girl, for her to be in love with someone as dangerous as me." "What a strange boy, for him to be interested in someone so bland as me." Those were the only thoughts in their heads.

Ano woke up with rays of sunlight shining in his eyes, Anny stared at him with a warm smile, admiring his red eyes that were as bright as the sun itself. Ano was happy for once in his life, but the journey was just starting.

They got dressed together, giving little reactions to the clothes as they tried them on. Ano put on a comfortable pair of brown pants, and a light white shirt, as well as his usual blood vial necklace and some red jewels paired with gold. Anny wore khakis tailor pants, a brown pair of sandals, a matching vest, a white shirt, a red tie and golden jewellery.

They both got down the set of stairs, and asked once more for a coffee as they waited for Orm and Mehel to wake up.

"Those old men are really taking their time." said Ano bringing the coffee cup to his lips. "Ouch!" He lost the senses on his tongue for the day after that. Anny laughed and asked for a sip. Drinking that made her notice a casual atmosphere surrounding them, like they were not who they are, she felt that she finally had found a man she trusted.

They enjoyed the coffee for half an hour, before getting annoyed at the wait for the men, so Ano went up the stairs and knocked on their room. No response

"Hey! Orm, Mehel! We need to move!" He shouted at the door.

"Wait a… *Yawn… minute." Answered Orm with a sleepy voice.

After a minute or two of constant knocking, Orm got out of the room alone and locked it. "I just slept after that young sir left. He must be waiting at the carriage… Argh my back."

"Let's just go, please."

"Yes master, on my… *Yawn… way."

They made sure to get everything from the rooms and thanked the old lady, leaving in a matter of minutes, and, as Orm said, Mehel was waiting at the carriage.

"So, young lady…" Said Mehel in an interrogative tone.

"Mehel, I'm going to tell you just once, cut it." Answered Anny blushing.

Ano couldn't avoid the sharp gaze of Mehel, the same as Anny gave him when they met two days ago. It was a little annoying.

Maybe the kids weren't the best fit for being nobles, but they sure were a good fit for each other, and that night would be remembered by them for a long time.

They left Rimen, with destiny still set on Metarom.
